Pamela Dawn Waldrop
Pamela Dawn Waldrop, 52, of Olive Branch, died March 31, 2012, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. She was the owner of Lighthouse Book Store in Holly Springs, a member of the Christian Book Association and served as a pastor’s wife for 23 years.
Services were held at 12 noon on April 3 at the Pentecostal Church in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Autumn Woods Cemetery in Olive Branch. Memorial Park Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband of 35 years, Jerry Waldrop; a daughter, Crystal Hobbs (Nathaniel); sons Craig Waldrop (Joanna), Brad Waldrop (Deana), and Jeremiah Waldrop (Rachel); her father, Charles William Taylor; brothers, Randy and Patrick Taylor; and 10 grandchildren.
A.C. Wilson
A.C. Wilson, 60, of Holly Springs, died April 23, 2012, at his home. He was a construction worker.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on April 28 at Mt. Comfort CME Church in Waterford, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Charles Penson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Les Martin Wilson; three children, Amanda Greer of Olive Branch, Albert Curtis Wilson, Rodney Wilson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Hattie Logan of Newark, Ohio, Lizzie Avent of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, Pastor James Wilson, Curtis Lee Wilson, both of Memphis, Tenn., T.C. Wilson of Abbeville; and three grandchildren.
Arine Falkner Wooten
Arine Falkner Wooten, 72, of Horn Lake, formerly of Holly Springs, died April 24, 2012, at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of Prentiss Wooten. She was a member of Strickland United Methodist Church in Byhalia.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on April 28 at Smith Grove MB Church. Burial was in Strickland United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Herman Flemon officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves six daughters, Barbara (Russell) Thomas of Horn Lake, Sadie King of Memphis, Tenn., Audrey (Antonio) Cox of Chicago, Ill., Shirley (Dwayne) Fitts of Byhalia, Sweetie Wooten of Holly Springs, Dominique Wooten of Horn Lake; three sons, Prentiss (Constance) Wooten Jr. of Newnan, Ga., Eddie (Mae) Wooten of Holly Springs, Ron Wooten of Homestead, Fla.; her father, Eddie Falkner of Holly Springs; eight sisters, Queen Hardin of Memphis, Marie Ayers of Chicago, Ill., Etherlene Falkner, Darlene Dowdy, both of Holly Springs, Easter Pegues of Olive Branch, Emma Newson, Mary Ann Wooten, Willie Mae DeBerry, all of Memphis; three brothers, A.D. Jones of Hernando, Lee Falkner, Phillip Milan, both of Holly Springs; 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Paul Wesley Barrentine
Paul Wesley Barrentine, 58, of Collierville, Tenn., died Jan. 16, 2012. He was the founder of Memphis Performance Mail Order and co-founder of BTE, both in Mt. Pleasant, where he led as general manager.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 24 at Collierville Funeral Home Chapel.
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Jane Barrentine; a son, Brandon (Lenny); daughter, Allison West (Shaun).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society.
Charley Hayse Brown Jr.
Charley Hayse Brown Jr., 55, of Lamar, died Jan. 14, 2012.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 17 at Slayden Baptist Church. Burial was in the Slayden cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves eight sisters, Kathy Yeager (Stanley) of Slayden, Carolyn Champion of Waterford, Rose Skelton (Charles) of Holly Springs, Shirley Hurdle (Joe) of Slayden, Nancy Barber of Waterford, Serena Herring, Rosie Ross, Amanda Brown, all of Ripley; and two brothers, Jeff Brown of Booneville, Bobby Brown of Ripley.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel E. Brown.
Hazel Irene Gammons
Hazel Irene Gammons, 79, of Lamar, died Jan. 20, 2012, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a retired department manager with Holly Springs Walmart.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 23 at Slayden Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Slayden Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Byron Gammons of Slayden; two daughters, Susan Huddleston (Bobby) of Ashland, Teresa Kennedy (Jerome) of Slayden; four brothers, John House of San Angelo, Tx., James House of West Memphis, Ark., Roy House of McFearson, Kan., Jackie House of Somerville, Tenn.; a sister, Alice Perry of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Gammons.
Pallbearers were Jeff King, Heath Hurdle, Bubba Clarkson, Phillip Cunningham, Terry Kennedy, Jeff Hurdle, Adam Sanders, Brad Hudson, Bubba Tice.
Ina Jones Goree
Ina Jones Goree, 86, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 18, 2012, at Methodist Germantown Hospital in Tennessee. She was the widow of Henry Lee Goree Sr. She was a clerk with National Security, U.S. Government.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 24 at Jones Grove MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Corinth National Cemetery. Rev. John Powell officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Henry Lee Goree Jr. (Cleo) of Holly Springs; two grandchildren, Shawn Goree of Norfolk, Va., Selina Goree of Silver Springs, Md.; and two great-grandchildren.
George Edward Hill
George Edward Hill, 44, died Jan. 17, 2012. He was a member of Eason Grove MB Church.
Services were held at 12 noon on Jan. 21 at Hearn Grove MB Church in Byhalia, Rev. Archie Bowen, pastor. Rev. Charles Jones officiated. Burial was in Southwoods Memorial Park in Memphis, Tenn. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Effie Mae Hill; two daughters, Dominique Hill, Brittany Mabry of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Judy Ann Hill, Nicole Hill of Memphis; and a brother, Terry Hill.
Pallbearers were Jereme Hill, Brandon Davis, Keith Mayse, Steve Hill, Arvon Hill and Billy Davis.
