Rosie Lee Rounds Wilkins, 51, of Holly Springs, died May 25, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare System.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 4 at Christ Temple Church of God In Christ in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden, Holly Springs. Superintendent Albert Pass officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Harry Wilkins; a daughter, LaJoyce Renea Wilkins of Holly Springs; four stepchildren, Lynette Stewart, LaTarsha Jones, both of Holly Springs, Rochelle Stewart, Chuckie Stewart, both of Aurora, Ill.; three sisters, Dorothy Freeman, Connie Walker, Amanda Jones, all of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, Monroe Rounds of Memphis, Tenn., George Rounds of Cleveland, Ohio; Johnnie Rounds, Charlie Rounds, both of Holly Springs; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Martin, Robert Lyles and A.C. Rounds.
Pallbearers were Charlie Rounds Jr., Carl Martin, Zachary Rounds, Jessie Rounds, Monroe Rounds II and Derrick Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Rounds Sr., Johnnie Rounds, James Freeman, Monroe Rounds, George Rounds and Jessie Jones.
Essie Mae Stewart Clark
Essie Mae Stewart Clark, 77, of Holly Springs and the Chulahoma community, died May 18 at her caregiver’s home in West Memphis, Ark. She was a member of the Women’s Home Improvement Society and a retired cashier for Chulahoma Grocery. She was the widow of Jessie Clark.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 27 at Chulahoma MB Church where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. S.A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves on grandson, R. Ryan Durelle Matthews J.W. of Memphis, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren; and her caregiver Jewel Ledbetter of West Memphis, Ark.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter Reed Jr.
Janie Lou Culver
Janie Lou Culver, 75, of Waterford, Miss., died May 28 at her home. She was a homemaker and a maintenance worker for Wall Doxey State Park.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on May 31 at the Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Spring Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Waterford.
She leaves her husband, Cleveland Culver of Waterford; two daughters, Linda Ann Dempsey of Louisville, and Corrine Evans of Waterford; four sisters, Alberta Culver of Waterford, Miss., Margaret Gooding of Holly Springs, Miss., Era King of Opdgke, Ill., and Juanita McWhirter of Giler, Tex.; five grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Jimmie Jones
Jimmie Covington Jones, 78, of Memphis, Tenn., native of Banner, died May 25, 2006 at Court Manor Nursing Home in Memphis. She was the widow of H.C. Jones and Ray Miller.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on May 27 at Providence Church in Banner. Bro. Freddie Buchanan officiated. Memphis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Doyle and Linda Jones of Laws Hill; two brothers, Jack Covington, Robert Covington, both of Banner; a sister, Jewel Logan of Bruce; a stepdaughter, Debbie Miller Hilton of Bartlett; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three step-daughters, eight step-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Jones.
David B. Luellen
David B. Luellen, 36, of Memphis, Tenn., died May 20, 2006 at The Med in Memphis, Tenn.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 27 at Hudsonville CME Church. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Vorice McKinney of Holly Springs; his father, Conley Luellen Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; three children, David K. Rosser, David B. Luellen Jr. and Darious D. Luellen, all of Memphis; eight brothers, Robert Luellen, Jerry Lee McKinney, Kendale Luellen, Marcus Luellen and Darri Luellen, all of Memphis, Andrew McKinney, Tony Curtis McKinney, both of Slayden, Anthony McKinney of St. Louis, Mo.; and three sisters, Georgia Ann Young, Onie M. Luellen, Bianca Luellen, all of Memphis, Tenn.
Anna Marie Rash
Anna Marie Rash, 31, of Byhalia, died May 26, 2006. She was an insurance agent with Direct Insurance and a member of New Life Ministries.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 31 at the Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Byhalia. Rev. Mark Pearman officiated.
She leaves her husband, Tony Aldrich of Byhalia; one son, Tony Roger Aldrich Jr. of Byhalia; two daughters, Kayla Aldrich and Adrianna Aldrich, both of Byhalia; her mother, Tammie Finnegan and her husband, Fred of Byhalia; her father, Larry Rash of Sanford, Fla.; and one brother, Austin Ware of Byhalia.
Peggy F. Simpson
Peggy F. Simpson, 70, of Hickory Flat, died May 25, 2006 at her home. She was a retired Hickory Flat School teacher.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 27 at First Baptist Church in Hickory Flat, where she was a member. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Johnny Rakestraw officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, James S. Simpson; a son, Larry Simpson of Senatobia; a daughter, Lynn Thompson of Olive Branch; a sister, Rochelle Thompson of Hickory Flat; and three grandchildren.
Doyle Van Young
Doyle Van Young, 71, of Byhalia, died May 25 at the Collierville Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn. He was a truck driver for many years and was the owner of Warsaw Motors Wrecker Service since 1974, former owner of Warsaw Grocery for 10 years, and a volunteer deputy sheriff for Marshall County.
Services were held 2 p.m. on May 30 at the Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Byhalia Cemetery. Bro. Leon Burton officiated.
He leaves his wife, Hazel Young of Byhalia; four daughters, Sharon Lynn Luttrell of Hernando, Miss., Brenda Sue Hamlett of Wynne, Ark., Denise Kaye Hill of Portageville, Mo., Sandra Leah Davis of Wynne, Ark.; one step-daughter, Karen Elaine Sutton of Whiteville, Tenn.; three sons, Doyle Van Young Jr. of Aurora, Co., Reginald Lynn Young of Murry, Ky., and Dennis Ray Young of Marshton, Mo.; his mother Iva Wadkins Young of West Plains, Mo.; two brothers, Carl Boyce Young of Guntown, Gary Wayne Young of Colorado Springs, Co.; three sisters, Shirley Baumgardner and Fonnie Quinn, both of West Plains, Mo., and Rita Jean Oldman of San Antonio, Tex.; 18 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Van Alan Young and Michael Andrew Young.
