Linda Carol Dortch Allen
Linda Carol Dortch Allen, 47, of Holly Springs, died May 16, 2006 in Myrtle. She was a member of the church choir. She was a 1977 graduate of Ashland High School. She was a certified nurse assistance with Home Health Care, Community Hospice, Tupelo.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 20 at Sand Hill MB Church in Lamar, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Etoy Bogard officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Jimmy Dell Allen; a daughter, Ichanvoney M. Allen of Holly Springs; a son, Jimmy Alvechie Allen of Holly Springs; a sister, Brenda Dortch Wilson of Lamar; eight brothers, Robert Dobbs, Rickey Dortch, Gregory Dortch, all of Chicago, Ill., Derrick Dortch of Ripley, Craig Dortch of Lamar, Reggie Dortch of Bolivar, Tenn, Horace Hampton of Memphis, Tenn., Frank Howery of Chicago, Ill.; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earnest Dortch and Norris Hampton.
Pallbearers were the class of 1977. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Dobbs, Reggie Dortch, Gregory Dortch, Rickey Dortch, Derrick Dortch and Orlando Craig Dortch.
Joseph Lee Brown
Joseph Lee (Toby) Brown, 51, of Holly Springs, died May 14, 2006 at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab in Holly Springs. He was a 1973 graduate of Holly Springs High School. He was a maintenance worker with the City of Holly Springs.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 20 at Hopewell No. 2 MB Church in Hudsonville, where he was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Mark Bryson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Shenice Mosley of Southaven; a son, Devin Mosley of Holly Springs; four sisters, Dorothy Brown, Janice Brown, both of Holly Springs, Odessa Brown Sumlin of Greenwood, Debra Brown of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Alphonso Brown of Atlanta, Ga. and his grandmother, Oga Ware of Holly Springs.
Pallbearers were Danny Crumb, Tyrone Crumb, Joe Crumb Jr., Eric Rooks, Fred Crumb, Wayne Brown, Anthony Crumb, Lonnie Beard, Kent Beard. Honorary pallbearers were Author Crutcher, Oscar Holloway, Cliff Cowan, Rickey Hughes, Hurbert Lee Isable, Billy Ray Thompson and Oscar George.
Will A. Burton
Will A. Burton, 82, of Holly Springs, died May 16, 2006 at his home. He was the widower of Louise Robinson Burton. He was a retired bus driver and a member of Masonic Lodge #241.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 20 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home of Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three daughters, Willie Mae Harris of Holly Springs, Lorene Miller, pastor Mae Palmer, both of Aurora, Ill.; a sister, Mae Lee Street of Milwaukee, Wisc.; a brother, Bobby Howell of Forrest City, Ark.; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
James Waylon Cruse
James Waylon Cruse, 39, of Los Angeles, Calif., died May 5, 2006 at Cedars Medical Center. He graduated from Ouachita Christian High School in Monroe, La. He attended Louisiana Tech University at Ruston, La. He was a journalist.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on May 13 at Old Macedonia Cemetery. Rev. Faron Ash officiated. Eulogy given by Tina Walker of Los Angeles. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his parents, Wilburn and Brooksie Cruse of Potts Camp; a sister, Lawana Guerry of Orlando, Fla.; two nephews, Wayne and Daniel of Orlando, Fla.; and a special caretaker, Sean Ronay.
Pallbearers were Bobby Ray Allbritton, Earnest Cruse, Ricky Gandy, David Hill, Keith Laws and Sid Walker. Honorary pallbearer was Allen Cruse from Merryville, La.

Travion Montez Dowdy, newborn, died May 13, 2006 at Baptist-DeSoto Hospital.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on May 20 at Finley Grove Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Trakelia Dowdy; his father, Brian Sumlar; maternal grandparents, Darlene Dowdy and Archie Ham; great-grandmother, Janie Dowdy; and his sister, Shakiyah Davis.
Mary Elizabeth Elliott
Mary Elizabeth Elliott, 77, of Hickory Flat, died May 21, 2006 at Baptist East in Memphis, Tenn. She was a seamstress with Irwin B. Schwabe.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 23 at Hickory Flat Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Larry G. Elliott of Hickory Flat; a daughter, Johnnie L. Roberson of Ashland; three brothers, Ruby B. Blaylock of Grenada, Ralph Blaylock of Southaven, Robert Blaylock of Cahokia, Ill.; four sisters, Dorothy Marie Counts of Donaphin, Mo., Pearl Rose Sparks of Memphis, Tenn., Joyce Maness of Memphis, Tenn., Emeline Payne of Potts Camp; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Versie Mae Gammons
Versie Mae Gammons, 93, of Holly Springs, died May 17, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Howard Lee Gammons. She was a member of Heritage Christian in Southaven.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 19 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. James Sandy officiated.
She leaves a son, Morris Gammons of Waterford; two daughters, Margie Ann Jamieson of Holly Springs, Rosie Smith of Southaven; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Rivers Gammons and Jerry Gammons; and by two grandsons, Brian Gammons and Jeffrey Jamieson.
Rodney Patrick Gray
Rodney Patrick Gray, 32, of Lamar, died May 20, 2006 at his home. He was a Baptist and a plumber.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rice Chapel Cemetery in Lamar.
He leaves his wife, Melisha Churchill Gray; two sons, Jeremy Gray, Steven Gray, both of Lamar; a daughter, Rebeccah Gray of Lamar; his parents, Paul and Sarah Gray of Collierville, Tenn.; and two brothers, Paul Gray of Ashland, Chris Gray of Holly Springs.
