Cleneisha La’Shay Stigger, 19, of Red Banks, died Jan. 20, 2012, in Holly Springs. She was a member of her church’s youth department and a student at Northwest Community College.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28 at LaGoshen MB Church in Moscow, Tenn., where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. James H. Rosser officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, NeKaychell Stigger Campbell of Mt. Pleasant; her father, Clifton Mitchell of Cordova, Tenn.; stepfather, Bradford Campbell of Mt. Pleasant; stepmother, Sheureka Mitchell of Cordova; two sisters, Branicus Campbell of Holly Springs, Bryonna Campbell of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Quantario Stigger of Mt. Pleasant, DeMarcus Murchinson of St. Louis, Mo.; grandmother, Brenda McClain of Rossville, Tenn.; grandfather, Starry Stigger of Barton; stepgrandmother, Mary Campbell of Holly Springs; great-grandparents, Mary Hunt, Earl Hunt, both of Lakeland, Tenn., Carrie Mitchell of Somerville, Tenn., Nettie R. Stigger, E.F. Stigger, both of Rossville, Tenn.
Adell Walker
Adell Walker, 78, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 20, 2012, at his home. He was a choir member, former member of the trustee board, male chorus, Asbury United Methodist Men, American Legion Post 250, Marshall County Retired Teachers Association and a U.S. Army veteran.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 27 at Asbury United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. F.H. Brown officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Mattie Falkner Walker; four children, Stanley Adell Walker, Jacqueline Williams, Rosalyn DeBerry, all of Holly Springs, Donna Beard of Fayetteville, Ga.; son-in-law Connery DeBerry of Holly Springs; a brother, Robert Lee Jones of Pontiac, Mich.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Oscar Lee Davis
Oscar Lee Davis, 70, of Memphis, Tenn., died Jan. 26, 2012, in Memphis. He was a welder.
Services were held at 12 noon on Feb. 4 at Mt. Sinai MB Church in Byhalia. Burial was in Street Hill Cemetery in Holly Springs. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Dorothy Davis; two daughters, Marilyn Taylor-Davis, Sara Pirtle, both of Memphis; four sons, Floyd Davis, Malcolm Davis, Michael Taylor, all of Memphis, Demetrius Jones of Byhalia; three sisters, Mae Robbie Jenkins of Byhalia, Earnestine Brookins, Muszette Davis, both of Memphis; five brothers, Ollie Davis, Sammie L. Davis, Marvin L. Davis, all of Byhalia, Percy L. Davis of Memphis, Lee Ester Davis of Serquin, Tx.; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Virginia Mae Gray
Virginia Mae Gray, 76, of Lamar, died Feb. 5, 2012, at Ashland Health and Rehab. She was the widow of Roland Gray. She was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Clear Creek Cemetery. Bro. Jim Polk officiated.
She leaves a daughter, Patricia Davis of Holly Springs; a brother, James Robert Skelton of Holly Springs; two sisters, Hattie Fay Estes, Sarah Katherine Gray, both of Collierville, Tenn.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Lottie Hayes
Lottie Hayes, 72, of Olive Branch, died Feb. 1, 2012, at her home.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 4 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Center Hill Cemetery in Olive Branch.
She leaves her husband, Carl Hayes; four daughters, Carla Ann Lankford of Memphis, Tenn., Sheila Ray Hayes of Oklahoma, Tammy Lynn Bauer of Minnesota, Sharland Hayes of Olive Branch; a brother, Gary McCauley of Horn Lake; two sisters, Bonnie Hall of Millington, Tenn., Pam Phillips of Murphreesboro, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.
Dennis Jeffries
Dennis Jeffries, 54, of Waterford, died Jan. 31, 2012. He was a member of Wilkins Chapel CME Church in Waterford.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 4 at Wilkins Chapel CME Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pastor Robert Odum officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Betty Gean Jeffries; six children, Keith Dawkins, Timothy Thomas, Lashonna Jeffries, Dennis Dewayne Jeffries, Youlanda Jeffries and Felicia Jeffries; three sisters, Betty Martin (Willie) of Waterford, LuCresia Turnage (Ivory) of Memphis, Tenn., Lela Perteet of Chicago, Ill.; six brothers, Eddie (Ora) of Holly Springs, Sammie, Amos (Armie Jean), Alfred (Sandra), Bobby, Ervin Jeffries, all of Waterford; and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kelvin Thomas; a sister and five brothers, Lena Mae, Johnny, Robert, Gable, Telca and Ricky.
Pallbearers were Timothy Thomas, Ricky Jamond Jeffries, Mario Jeffries, Dennis Dewayne Jeffries, Corey Jeffries, Marcell Curry and Kelvin Jeffries. Honorary pallbearers were Sammie Jeffries, Amos Jeffries, Alfred Jeffries, Bobby Jeffries and Ervin Jeffries.
Charlie Wise Russell
Charlie Wise Russell, 93, of Moscow, Tenn., died Feb. 3, 2012, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was the widower of Ethel Bryant Russell. He was a member of the National Cotton Council in Memphis and an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Slayden Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Slayden Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two sons, Ernest Russell, Bryant Russell, both of Moscow; and a daughter, Connie Spencer of Milton, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Russell.
Thomas Russell
Thomas Russell, 67, of Oxford, formerly of Holly Springs, died Feb. 2, 2012, at Baptist Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving three tours of duty in Vietnam, and a maintenance worker with University of Mississippi in Oxford.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 11 at Jeffrie Chapel MB Church in Abbeville, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. McArthur King will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Ella Ree Gordon Russell of Abbeville; a daughter, Dumetria Russell of Potts Camp; two sons, Lexter Mull, Tracy Gatewood, both of Holly Springs; a stepdaughter, Janice Harden of Abbeville; five sisters, M. Jewel O’Neal of Cincinnati, Ohio, Faye Murphy of Oxford, Florence Russell of Los Angeles, Calif., Alma Williams of Starkville, Gertrude Kelly of New Orleans, La.; a brother, Ansel Otis Russell of Holly Springs; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two stepchildren, Sylvia Pegues, Johnny Dennis; and a brother, Father Rosalind Russell.
