Richard Neville Delbridge Sr.
Richard (Dick) Neville Delbridge Sr., 73, of Byhalia, died July 20, 2006 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven. He was a Navy veteran of Korea. He was assistant manager of Sunkist Growers Inc. After his retirement from Sunkist, he became involved in his son’s business, Magnolia Custom Fabricators in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on July 22 at Emory Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Lou Delbridge; a son, Richard (Skip) Delbridge Jr. of Byhalia; two daughters, Katherine Harding of San Antonio, Tx., Laura Delbridge of Durham, NC; and three grandchildren.
Gene Gilmer
Gene Gilmer, 86, of Cayce, died July 19, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a retired mechanic from Cartwright Nursery.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on July 22 at Collierville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Fisherville Cemetery in Eads, Tenn.
He leaves five daughters, Dorothy Gilmer, Linda Gilmer, both of Cayce, Mary Snipes, Martha Bailey, both of Memphis, Tenn., Ruby Umstead of Oakland, Tenn.; a son, Donald Gilmer of Red Banks; two sisters, Elsie Joyner of Collierville, Lois Bryan of Cayce; four brothers, Clarence Gilmer of Collierville, Everett Gilmer of Arlington, Tenn., Marvin Gilmer of Olive Branch, Billy Gilmer of Holly Springs; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Charley Lee Holloway
Charley Lee Holloway, 62, of Milwaukee, Wisc., formerly of Holly Springs, died July 16, 2006 at Marian Franciscian Center, Milwaukee. He was a retired laborer with a steel mill in Milwaukee.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 22 at Rising Star MB Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. O. Williams officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves seven children; his parents, Sammie and Roxie Holloway, both of Holly Springs; two sisters, Connie Gordon of Chicago, Ill., Arleaus Bogard of Holly Springs; two brothers, Nathaniel Holloway of Holly Springs, Girves Holloway of Atlanta, Ga.; and several grandchildren.
James Elihue Howell
James Elihue (Big White) Howell, 71, of Holly Springs, died July 18, 2006 at Alliance Health Care System. He was chairman of the deacon board, Sunday school teacher, former member of Twilight Singers and member of Masonic Lodge #339.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 22 at Strawberry MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Willie F. Jeffries Jr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Opherine Johnson Howell; two daughters, Shirley Howell Dowdy of Holly Springs, Catherine Howell Bridges of Holly Springs; a son, Jimmie (Chip) Howell of Holly Springs; three sisters, LuGussie Jennings of Mt. Clemens, Mich., Evelyn Howell, Emma Lee Howell, both of Holly Springs; a brother, Monroe Howell Jr. of Holly Springs; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Isom, Tommy Howell, Naymond Isom, Douglas Howell, Daniel Isom, Alvertis Ingram, Kevin Isom and Termon Gary. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas E. Jennings, Kenneith Jennings, Alex Hawkins Sr., Clarence Leatherwood, Wallace Freeman, Ollie Ingram and Strawberry MB Church deacon board.
Linnon Jones
Linnon Jones, 35, of Holly Springs, died July 16, 2006 at his home. He was a former Sunday school superintendent. He was a framer with Best Bilt System in Byhalia.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 22 at Isom Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe T. Lester officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his father, Joseph L. Jones of Holly Springs; his mother, Lassie Talley Jones of Holly Springs; and a sister, Silva McKinnie of Holly Springs.
He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Linton Jones.
Pallbearers were Lysander Jones, Lavorn Jones, Alaric Jones, Brian Jones, Dennis Nabors and Lawrence Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Dortch, Derek Dortch, Holmes Pinson, Paul Jones, Anterio McKinney and Michael Hughes.
Robert W. Moore
Robert W. Moore, 82, of Red Banks, died July 17, 2006 at his home. He was a construction worker.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 23 at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Cayce, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Hubie Nelson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Mary Anner Mosley Moore; six daughters, Dorothy Moore of Cayce, Peggy Moore of Red Banks, Betty Watson, Barbara Jones, Carolyn Hall, Katrina Watson, all of Red Banks; five sons, Robert Moore Jr. of Millington, Tenn., George Moore of Cordova, Tenn., Leon Moore, Willie Moore, both of Red Banks, Bearus Moore of Victoria; a sister, Fannie L. Norman of Red Banks; 34 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Moore.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeffrey Lamont Moore, Marco Watson, Carlos Moore, Nicholas Moore, Mario Watson and Christopher Malone.
John Thomas Newsom
John Thomas Newsom, 83, of Byhalia, died July 21, 2006 at his home. He was the widower of Betty L. Newsom. He was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, a maintenance tech with Sears Roebuck for 48 years, a member of NRA, member of Tree Farm Association and an Army veteran of World War II.
Services were held at 10 a.m., July 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Tom Hood officiated.
He leaves three sons, John L. Newsom, Gary Douglas Newsom, both of Byhalia, Thomas A. Newsom of Coldwater; a brother, Garland (Dickie) Newsom of Walnut; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Eugene Newsom.
Roy G. Pasco Sr.
Roy G. Pasco Sr., 60, of Crenshaw, died July 18, 2006 at his home. He was a truck driver for Ellis Steel.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 21 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
He leaves his wife of 41 years, Beverly Pasco; two daughters, Cathy Barber, Melody Roberts; four sons, John, Randy, Bobby and Jason; a sister, Sandra Barbour; a brother, Earl M. Pasco; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roy G. Pasco Jr.; his grandsons, Gregory Pasco, Cody Pasco; and his granddaughter, Amber Fitzmeyers.
