Dale Hadley
Dale Hadley, 80, of Horn Lake, died Oct. 21, 2006 in Conway, Ark. He was the widower of Ruth Hadley. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship USS Colorado, participating in the Asiatic-Pacific and Philippine Liberation Campaigns. Upon his discharge, he began his 34-year career with the Veteran’s Administration, retiring as chief of building management at the Audie Murphy Veteran’s Hospital in San Antonio, Tx. After retirement, he moved to Mt. Pleasant and later Horn Lake.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville. Collierville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a son, Matthew Hadley of Conway, Ark.; and a grandson, Philip Hadley of Uvalde, Tx.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark.

Louise Holmes
Louise Holmes, 86, of Byhalia, died Oct. 23, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Edward Holmes.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 25 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow, Tenn., where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Wade Taylor and Bro. Parlow officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two sons, Lesley Holmes of Collierville, Tenn., Thomas Holmes of Warsaw, Mo.; three daughters, Christell Burchette of Williston, Tenn., Lillie Pearl Hailey of Byhalia, Opal Barnes of Elmira, NY; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis F. Holmes
Florence A. Purcell
Florence A. Purcell, 94, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 21, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare. She was the widow of James T. Purcell.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27 at Ashland United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Bro. William Kemp officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves four nieces, Faye Morrison of Memphis, Tenn., Frances Gresham of Holly Springs, Jeanne Cutrer of Dripping Springs, Tx., Rosalie McLeod of Biloxi; a nephew, Jerry McGill of Tampa, Fla.
Nola Inez Utley
Nola Inez Utley, 92, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Oct. 19, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of John Arnold Utley. She worked as a seamstress and tailor from her home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hoxie, Ark., where she was in charge of meals for the bereaved.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 24 at First United Methodist Church of Hoxie. Burial was in Baker Cemetery in Hardy, Ark. Rev. Michael Winnberry and Rev. Delores Stroud officiated. Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Frank Utley of West Plains, Mo.; two caregivers, Rev. Delores Stroud, Karen Stroud, both of Pine Bluff; four grandsons, Mark Utley of Collierville, Tenn., Stephen Utley of Hernando, Stan Utley and John Utley; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter A. Utley, a grandson, Gary Utley, a sister Nina Barthet and a brother, Barnard B. Stroud.

Onis Kyle Brown Jr.
Onis Kyle Brown Jr., 67, of Myrtle, died Oct. 14, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Church of Christ in Laws Hill. He worked in the maintenance department of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County and was a former employee of the Sunbeam Factory and the Mississippi State Forestry Department.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethlehem Church of Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery. Bro. Steve Wilson officiated.
He leaves his wife, Johnnie Sue Brown; a son, David Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Kathy Lumpkin of Potts Camp; two brothers, Charles Brown of Hickory Flat, Shelton Brown of Waterford; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tooney Fesmire, Norman Oglesby, Sonny Cash, Eugene James, David Johnson, Dallas Perkins, Joshua Lumpkin and Daniel Lumpkin.
Margaret Ann McKenzie Shaw
Margaret Ann McKenzie Shaw, 67, of Michigan City, died Oct. 9, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a member of Mt. Bethel MB Church in Michigan City and a church mother, and a retired custodian with Benton County Court House in Ashland.
Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 14 at Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Poplar officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, L.G. Shaw; two daughters, Ann Shaw Williams of Grand Junction, Tenn., Joyce Shaw Morrow of Michigan City; four sons, James McAfee of Mt. Pleasant, Stanley McAfee of Michigan City, Rickey McAfee of Ashland, Dwight Shaw of Michigan City; two stepchildren, Annette Brown of Michigan City, Emmitt Shaw of Nashville; two sisters, Floy Smith of Michigan City, Georgia Davis of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Charlie McKenzie of New Albany; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jeffery Moore, Charles Davis, Larry Shaw, Roosevelt Traylor, Jackie Davis and Tyrone Shaw. Honorary pallbearers were James McAfee, Ricky McAfee, Dwight Shaw, Laseyvion McAfee, Stanley McAfee, Eddrick McAfee, Marquitus McAfee and Gregory Hunt.
Cecil Mae Shoffner
Cecil Mae Shoffner, 75, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 15, 2006 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of James T. Shoffner and a Baptist.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Troy Defer and Bro. Mickey Hoyle officiated.
She leaves three sons, Tommy Shoffner, Ricky Shoffner, both of Holly Springs, Roy Shoffner of Olive Branch; a daughter, Angie Taylor of Holly Springs; four brothers, Gerald Busby of Mt. Pleasant, Rooseveltt Busby of Abbeville, Doyle Busby of Mt. Pleasant, Larry Busby of Byhalia; three sisters, Mildred Brandon of Holly Springs, Clarene Byers, Mary Bumpus, both of Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Roy Shoffner, Jake Shoffner, Jordy Shoffner, Kerry Busby, Charlie Busby, Waylon Busby and Mike Lemons.
Eugene Walton
Eugene Walton, 71, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 13, 2006 at his home. He was a retired truck driver for Budweiser.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Mt. Teamer CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Soul Chapel Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
