Jahiem Demarcus Webb, newborn, of Oxford, died Oct. 14, 2006 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Gerry Pomerlee officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his parents, Paul and Artisha Webb; a brother, Jaquan Jalen Webb; his grandparents, Virgis and Eddie Pomerlee and Cynthia Danisls, all of Oxford.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Jesses Webb.
Solomon Woodson Sr.
Solomon Woodson Sr., 75, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 9, 2006 at his home. He worked for many years for the City of Holly Springs Street Department.
Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 14 at Hudsonville CME Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Flossie Lee Woodson; nine children, Ada Stringer, Irene Woodson, Earlene Woodson, Georgia Woodson, Irma Jean Woodson, James Woodson, all of St. Louis, Mo., Solomon Woodson Jr., and LaTonya Woodson of Holly Springs, Robert Woodson of Olive Branch; and several grandchildren.
Walter Anthony Barbour Jr.
Walter Anthony Barbour Jr., 24, of the Ingram’s Mill Community, died Sept. 26, 2006. He attended Barton Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 30 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.
He leaves his wife, Alicia Barbour; a son, Collyn Anthony Barbour; his parents, Walter and Sandra Barbour; grandparents, Nell Barbour and Walter Barbour; and his sister, Amber B. Greer, her husband, John Robert Greer; and a nephew, John Colton Lindsey.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Katherine and Earl Abston.
Memorials may be made to Barton Baptist Church.
Ezelle Royal Brittenum
Ezelle Royal Brittenum, 83, of Memphis, Tenn., died Sept. 30, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Tom Brittenum. She was a member of Moore’s Memorial COGIC in Memphis and a retired seamstress with Dillard’s department store in Memphis.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 7 at Leake’s Temple COGIC in Memphis. Burial was in New Park Cemetery in Memphis. Elder Angelo Beard officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two daughters, Marion B. Cleaves, Martha Davis, both of Memphis, Tenn.; six sons, Edwin Brittenum, James Brittenum, Robert Brittenum, Charles Brittenum, all of Memphis, Tenn., Franklin Brittenum of San Francisco, Calif., Rayfield Brittenum of Atlanta, Ga.; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Brittenum, and a sister.
Pallbearers were Stanphany Boykins, Kenny Smith, Brandon Hunt, Avril Brittenum, Milton Bonds Sr. and Greg Ward. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Brittenum, Franklin Brittenum, Edwin Brittenum, James Brittenum, Charles Brittenum and Rayfield Brittenum.
Carl Ray Church
Carl Ray Church, 68, of Memphis, Tenn., died Oct. 6, 2006 at Memphis Health and Rehab. He was a Messianic Jew and a mechanic.
Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Byhalia Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Nelda Neal Church of Collierville, Tenn.; a son, John Church of Rockville, S.C.; a daughter, Vicki Lott of Rockville, S.C.; four stepchildren; three brothers, F.C. Church of Southaven, R.V. Church of Memphis, Merle Church of Memphis; three sisters, Linda Hamlin, Delma Fay Frye, both of Booneville, Shirley Lovell of Jackson; a grandchild, a great-grandchild and seven step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Church; and a sister, Virdie Michaels.

Peggy Sue Clark, 55, of Oxford, died Sept. 28, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS in Oxford. She was a clerical employee with Bank of Holly Springs.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 30 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Cliff Smiley officiated.
She leaves her husband, John Clark; a son, Christopher Renick of Batesville; three daughters, Samantha Potts of Hickory Flat, Wendy Medling of Oxford, Tammy Calhoun of Freemont, Ohio; her father, John Garner; a brother, Mike Garner of Hickory Flat; a sister, Kathleen Gullick of Clarksville; and 10 grandchildren.
Alberta Tipler Foster Esq.
Evangelist Alberta Tipler Foster Esq., 58, of New Brunswick, N.J., formerly of Benton County, died Oct. 1, 2006 at her residence. She joined Harris Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and after moving joined Victory Christian Center Church in Brunswick. In 1964 she began publishing a newspaper called The Benton County Freedom Train.
Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 10 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Franklin, pastor, and Rev. Houston Evans officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Frager Foster, her son, Shomari Foster of New Brunswick; two daughters, Rukiya Foster of Knoxville, Tenn., Sandi Gilliard of Philadelphia, Pa.; her parents, Albert and Nelma Tipler; five sisters, Rosie Hunt, Carolyn Porter, Michelle Matthews, all of Holly Springs, Venessa Tucker of Southaven, Althea Coleman of Blue Mountain; seven brothers, James Tipler of Oakland, Calif., William Tipler of Memphis, Tenn., Garry Tipler, Cortez Tipler, both of Chicago, Ill., Gaither Tipler, Dexter Tipler, both of Holly Springs, Alvin Tipler of Pirmasens, Germany and three grandchildren.

Lena Faye McCammon Holloway, 55, of Byhalia, died Oct. 5, 2006 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven. She was a member of Memphis and Horn Lake Scleroderma support groups and the Byhalia Christian Writers Association.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Byhalia United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Pastor Victoria White officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Jerry Holloway; a daughter, Dena Reah Moss of Georgia; her parents, R.J. and Ruby McCammon of Olive Branch; a sister, Tina Renee McCammon of Olive Branch; and four grandchildren.
Rev. Purcell Hurne
Rev. Purcell (Hearn) Hurne, 74, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 30, 2006 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. He was a member of St. Clair in Glendora and a farm worker with Ralph Curls Farms.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 7 at Christ Temple Church of God In Christ. Burial was in Yarbrough Chapel CME Church Cemetery. Superintendent Albert Pass officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Annie Mae Hurne; a daughter, Mattie Coleman of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Martha B. Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Will Hearn of Memphis, Tenn., Roy Hearn of Holly Springs; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
