Patricia Denham Collard, 56, of Kemp, Tx., died Feb. 20, 2006 at Hospice of East Texas.

Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Bishop officiated.

She leaves her husband, Charles Collard; a son, Dewitt Collard of Kemp; two daughters, Cheryl Collard of Kemp, Theresa Whitlow of Pontotoc; five brothers, Otis Denham of Salem, Ala., Gus Denham of New Albany, Billy Denham of Tupelo, Willard Denham of Oxford, Elec Denham of Lamar; three sisters, Cindy Gurley of Ashland, Floye Denham of Baldwyn, Clara McMillan of Southaven; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Angela Diane Curtis

Angela Diane Curtis, 20, of Ashland, died Feb. 19, 2006 in Ripley. She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and a student.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 23 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Bobby Williams officiated.

She leaves her father, Lee Curtis of Hickory Flat; her mother, Amy and Mark Steele of Ashland; her grandfather, Leslie M. Curtis of Michigan City; her grandmother, Linda Miller of Michigan City; her brother, Gresham Steele of Ashland; her sister, Megan Steele of Ashland; and a nephew.

Pallbearers were Marvin Curtis, Tyler Curtis, Rich Yager, Jason Yager, Josh Harrington, Elbert Carpenter, Travis Carpenter and Jackie Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Harrington, Kevin Owens and Jessie Byrd.

Johnnie Lee Daugherty Sr.

Johnnie Lee (Sugar Man) Daugherty Sr., 92, of Ashland, died Feb. 19, 2006 at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. He was a member of Hebron MB Church, a deacon, church treasurer, former Sunday school superintendent, former choir president, former president of NAACP, former school board member of Benton County for 24 years, Greenwood Lodge #68, patron in Eastern Star, former president of North Benton County Water Association, committee member of Benton County Fire Department and community activist. He was a retired self-employed carpenter.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Ashland High School Auditorium. Burial was in Hebron MB Church Cemetery in Lamar. Rev. Adam Gholson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves three daughters, Thera Jones of Chicago, Ill., Mary Daugherty of Glenwood, Ill., Dorothy Hurt of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Johnnie Lee Daugherty Jr. of Lamar, Walter Daugherty of Collierville, Tenn.; three step-daughters, Gloria Jean Foster of Memphis, Tenn., Ora Parker of Chicago, Ill., Rose Mary Adams of Cleveland, Ohio; a step-son, Isaac Parker of Ashland; a sister, Girtha Glass of Chicago, Ill.; 33 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Beasel Daugherty Sr., Udell Daugherty Sr.; and a step-son, Richard Parker.

Pallbearers were Beasel Daugherty III, Stanley Daughter Jr., Zackary Daugherty, Stanley Daugherty Sr., Terrence Daugherty Sr. and Eudelle Daugherty Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Steward, Willie Daugherty and Beasel Daugherty Jr.

Francis Frederick Gamble

Francis Frederick (Fritz) Gamble, 52, died Feb. 21, 2006. He most recently served as vice president for Matrix Medical.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 25 at Slayden Baptist Church in Lamar. Burial was in Slayden Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Debra Winfield Gamble, two children, Joshua and Erin; his mother, Ruth Gamble; a sister, Olive Nell; and a brother, Edward.

Curley Gatewood

Curley Gatewood, 86, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 19, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Trustee Board, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Masonic Lodge. He was a lift driver with Pigeon-Thomas Iron & Steel Company for 40 years.

Services were held at 12 noon on Feb. 24 at Hudsonville CME Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Isom Chapel CME Church Cemetery. Rev. Bobby G. Wilson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Carrie Ann Gulledge Gatewood; a daughter, Joyce Trask of Natchez; a son, LaFayette Gatewood of Holly Springs; and a grandson.

Pallbearers were Justine Gatewood, Larry Gatewood, Leon Tucker, Raymond Spight, Glenn Coleman, John Gatewood.

David Bryan Helton

David Bryan Helton, 32, of Byhalia, died recently at his home. He was a truckdriver.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 23 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.

He leaves his wife, Lynn Helton; a son, Andrew James Helton of Oakland, Tenn.; a step-daughter, Beth Spaudling of Byhalia; a step-son, Lee Clendenen of Byhalia; his parents, Evelyn and James (Pete) Roberson of Byhalia, and David and Lee Helton of Brandon; grandparents, Joe and Margie Price of Memphis, Tenn.; step-brother, Duwayne Roberson of West Memphis, Ark.; step-sister, Gloria Roberson of West Memphis; his half-sister, Lynda Kelly of Brandon; and three grandchildren.

Betty Jane Garner Howell

Betty Jane Garner Howell, 71, of Potts Camp, died Feb. 25, 2006 at her home. She was retired from Sunbean Corp. and a member of Amaziah Baptist Church.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 27 at United Funeral Services Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Rev. Jason Howell officiated.

She leaves her husband, Charles Vardaman Howell; a daughter, Betty Bryant of Ashland; three sons, Wayne Howell, Larry Howell, Eric Howell, all of Potts Camp; a sister, Jessie Garner of Holly Springs; a brother, Victor Garner of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Diane Howell; and a brother, Richard Garner.

Pallbearers were Tim Purvis, Jonathan Gadd, Harold Bryant, Tony Harris, Matt Harris and Tyler Holmes.

Lizzie Mae Mason Williams

Lizzie Mae Mason Williams, 89, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Lamar, died Feb. 19, 2006 at Holy Cross Hospital, Chicago, Ill. She was the widow of Sam Williams. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25 at Hebron MB Church in Lamar, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Adam Gholson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three daughters, Ether B. Conley, Mattie Hamer, both of Chicago, Ill., Lucy Dortch of Country Club Hills, Ill.; three sons, James Williams, George Williams, both of Chicago, Ill., John Henry Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elease Cox; and a grandson.

Pallbearers were Carlos E. Williams, Stanley L. Williams, Robert A. Williams, Steven Dortch, Jonathan Williams and Maurice Dortch. Honorary pallbearers were James A. Williams, John H. Williams, Morris Dortch, George E. Williams and L.T. Cox.
