Charles Wicker
Charles (Gibson) Wicker, 74, of Fairfield Bay, Ark., formerly of Hickory Flat, died March 2, 2007 at Conway Regional. He graduated from East High School in Memphis, Tenn. and attended Northwest Community College in Senatobia. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 4 at First Baptist Church of Hickory Flat. Burial was in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Johnny Rakestraw officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Paulette Wicker; two daughters, Lisa Wicker Madrigal of Ashland, Lynda Wicker Smith of Pickwick, Tenn.; four stepsons, Gary Sours of Fairfield Bay, Tim Sours, Keith Sours, both of Jacksonville, Fla., J.R. Cantrell of Gainsville, Fla..; stepdaughter, Rena Wilks of Fairfield Bay; two brothers, James Kenneth Wicker of Tupelo, Fred Wicker of Pontotoc; a sister, Mary Reese of Olive Branch; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Murray Wicker.
Pallbearers were Fredrick Cummings, W.D. Perkins, Mark Reese, Cory Smith, Carlos Madrigal, McDaniel Wicker, Roger Wicker and Tom Wicker.
Lesley Gerald Wilbanks
Lesley Gerald Wilbanks, 79, of Byhalia, died Feb. 28, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was a retired saw filer for DeSoto Hardwood Floor Company for 38 years, a farmer, and a member of Emory Independent Methodist Church in Byhalia.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 2 at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Tippah County. Rev. Leon Burton, assisted by Bro. Tommy Wilbanks, officiated.
He leaves his wife, Essie Lee Wilbanks; three sons, James Wilbanks of Collierville, Tenn., Bobby Wilbanks, Larry Wilbanks, both of Byhalia; a daughter, Janie Bryan of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Junior Wilbanks of Byhalia, Tommy Wilbanks of Osceola, Ark.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Benny Ray Wilbanks.
Pallbearers were Bobby Wilbanks, Larry Wilbanks, Justin Smith, James Smith, Kevin Houston, Jeff York and Danny Mask.
Miles Earl Wilson
Miles Earl Wilson, 83, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 28, 2007 in Gillette, Ark. He was the widower of Mae Ruth Wilson, a Protestant and a retired merchant marine. He was an Army and Navy veteran.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on March 3 at his home. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Ethel France of Independence; two brothers, Carl Jefferson Wilson of Gillette, Ark., Bob D. Wilson of Houston, Tx.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ted D. Wilson; brothers Elmer and Junior Wilson; and a sister, Willie D. Wilson.
Memorials may be made to A&E Hospice, Olive Branch.
Jerome Young
Jerome Young, 33, of Memphis, Tenn., died Feb. 25, 2007 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 3 at Concord Baptist Church in Lamar, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Clyde Williams officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Rosie M. Young of Memphis; his father, Jerry Fleming of Collierville, Tenn.; three brothers, Darrin Young, Marquis Elandos Young, Jerry Lee Spencer, all of Memphis and three sisters, Latasha Young, Jennifer Fleming, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Sandra Fleming of Moscow, Tenn.
Leathy Mae Flemon Allen
Leathy Mae Flemon Allen, 79, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 15, 2006 at Graceland Care Center in Oxford. She was the widow of Howard Read and Clarence Allen. She was a member of Hernando Road Church of Christ.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22 at True Vine MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Liberty Hill MB Church in Abbeville. Rev. Darrell E. Cunningham officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a brother, Willie Flemon Jr. of Holly Springs.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Houston.
Pallbearers were Clarence Allen Jr., Dan Greer, James Isom, Jeremy Riddle and William Jeffries.
Margaret Ann Bone
Margaret Ann Bone, 80, of Waterford, died Dec. 25, 2006 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. She was the widow of William Bone Sr. and a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 27 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Dr. Bobby McKay officiated.
She leaves two sons, Bill Bone of Waterford, Ray Bone of Holiday, Fla.; three daughters, Dolly Skelton of Waterford, Janice Sexton of Hot Springs, Ark., Linda Mangrum of Hernando; a sister, Evelyn Jenkins of Knoxville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
James Monroe Frayser
James Monroe Frayser, 67, of Potts Camp, died Dec. 25, 2006 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. He was the widower of Frances Frayser. He was retired from the Mississippi Forestry Service.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 28 at Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, where he was a member. Burial was in Frayser Family Cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Steve Wilson officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Dorothy Frayser of Potts Camp; five brothers, George Frayser, Robert Frayser, Aubry Guy Frayser, Nathan Michael, Joey Frayser, all of Potts Camp; and four sisters, Fannie Agnes Owens of Potts Camp, Mary Boren of Holly Springs, Kathy Hopkins of New Albany, Janet Wilson of Potts Camp.
Pallbearers were Brandon Frayser, Heath Frayser, Rocky Hopkins, Mickey Hopkins, David Owens and Kevin Owens. Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Thomas, J.B. Work, Joe Pipkin, Thomas Stanton, Billy Smith, Scotty Wilson and Ronnie Bennett.
Ricky Jeffries
Ricky Jeffries, 48, of Waterford, died Dec. 24, 2006 at his home. He was a machine operator and construction worker with AMW Contracting in Southaven.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 30 at Wilkins Chapel CME Church in Waterford. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Michael James officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Shirley Rogers Jeffries; two daughters, Cieara Rogers, Shanequia Jeffries, both of Waterford; two sons, Rickey Rogers, Corey Jeffries, both of Waterford; three sisters, Betty Martin of Waterford, Luecresia Turnage of Memphis, Tenn., Lela Sharries Perteet of Chicago, Ill.; seven brothers, Eddie Jeffries of Holly Springs, Sammie Jeffries, Amos Jeffries, Alfred Jeffries, Dennis Jeffries, Bobby Jeffries, Earvin Jeffries, all of Waterford and one granddaughter.
