Edna Lee Rhea
Edna Lee Rhea, 84, of Holly Springs, died July 6, 2007 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was the widow of Oscar Rhea and a homemaker.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 8 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Clear Creek Cemetery.
She leaves her brother, Carl Brigance of Rossville, Tenn.
Mary Jane Robinson
Mary Jane Robinson, 84, of Collierville, Tenn., formerly of Byhalia, died July 4, 2007 at Germantown Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tenn. She was a bookkeeper.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 7 at Peterson Lake Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in New Bethel Methodist Cemetery in Rossville, Tenn. Rev. Terry Burnside and Rev. Warren Barron officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Jim Robinson; a son, James Richard Robinson of Okaber, Fla.; a daughter, Dorothy Cox of Kiln; and two grandchildren.
John L. Skelton
John L. Skelton, 91, died July 4, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Ripley. He was the widower of Maggie Lee Skelton. He was a World War II veteran, a sergeant with Company B, 395th Infantry. He fought in battles in Rhineland, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, he was awarded the EAMETO Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a farmer and a well digger.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 6 at Ashland Baptist Church. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Rev. Randy Crews officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves four daughters, Linda Janes of Ashland, Bernice (Peachie) Elder of Corinth, Anice (Bonnie) Jones of Ripley, Virgie Reed of New Albany; a brother, J.W. Skelton of Ashland; four sisters, Gracie (Tot) Allen of Holly Springs, Mary Bolden of Holly Springs, Addie Mae Allen of Ashland, Myrtice Newcomb of Ashland; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

Doyle F. Sutherland
Doyle F. Sutherland, 81, of Holly Springs, died June 29, 2007 at Baptist Oxford Hospital. He was a marine biologist and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Graveside services were held on July 7 in Camp, Ark. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a son, Dennis Sutherland of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Ketra Kay Sutherland of Napa, Calif.; two sisters, Nita Gilstrap of Holly Springs, Verneil Case of Summerville, S.C.; and five grandchildren.
Tyler Andrew Turner
Tyler Andrew Turner, 2, of Southaven, died July 7, 2007.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 11 at Forest Hill South Funeral Home Chapel in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.
He leaves his parents, Brian K. and Heather M. Lawson of Southaven; grandparents, Wendell Butcher and Marie Turner of Winston-Salem, N.C., Ann Lawson of Kernersville, N.C. Gene Lawson of King, N.C.; great-grandparents, Bonnie Thomas, of Advance, N.C., George Sr. and Mary Mason of Byhalia; and his uncle Bryan Turner.
Benny Sea Venson
Benny Sea Venson, 43, of Blue Mountain, died July 1, 2007 at North MS Medical Center.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 5 at Mosley Chapel Church in Cotton Plant. Burial was in Mosley Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Lawrence McKinzie officiated. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves four brothers, Jerry Venson, Myron Venson, Billy Venson, all of Cotton Plant, David Venson of Ripley; two sisters, Tracy Davis of New Albany, Phyllis Lewis of Ashland and a very special friend, Dorothy Jean Boles.
Pallbearers were Chester Davis, Billy Stokes, Gary Lewis, Joseph Penson, Andy Bynum, W.J. Mosley, Lee Jr. Mosley and Robert Foster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a loving niece, Natasha Venson.
Dallas L. Walls
Dallas L. Walls, 54, of Ashland, died July 3, 2007 in Holly Springs. He was disabled and a former employee of Mulay Plastics in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on July 7 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Franklin officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two daughters, Marilynn Shevawn Sims of Holly Springs, Annette King of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Antoine King of Memphis, Tenn., Dallas Daniel Walls of Holly Springs; his mother and father, Sherman Walls, Mary Burns Walls of Ashland; six sisters, Rosie Payne, Bertha Williams, Diane Sherrill, Mildred Daugherty, all of Ashland, Shirley Terry of Chicago, Ill., Callie Marks of Hampton, Va.; five brothers, Charlie Walls, Richard Walls, Willie Walls, all of Ashland, Mack Walls of Olive Branch, Rickey Walls of Fayetteville, Ark.; a god-brother and god-sister, James Jackson, Eva Jackson, both of Ashland; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Karlos Strickland, Jerry Strickland, Keffer Daughtery, Calvin Smith, Darwin Williams, and Mack Walls Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Mack Walls, Charlie Walls, Willie L. Walls, Ricky Walls, Joe Burns and Willie Campbell.
George Walton
George Walton, 97, of Byhalia, died July 4, 2007 at AmeriCare in Memphis, Tenn. He was the widower of Sarah Bogan Walton and a retired farmer.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on July 7 at Isaac Chapel CME Church in Byhalia, where he was a member. Burial was in Mt. Sinia Cemetery in Byhalia. Rev. Willie A. Ward officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two daughters, Evelyn Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., Anita Moore of Holly Springs; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Moore, Bretran Thompson, Rodney Thompson, Anthony Thompson, Lazera Thompson, Joseph Brown, James Rayford, Maurice Bell and Orndoff Matthews Jr. Honorary pallbearers were David L.
