Nettie June Pritchard
Nettie June Pritchard, 72, of Byhalia, died June 13, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in Southaven. Along with her husband, Johnnie, she was retired from managing Martin Theaters, which owned Rebel Drive-In, Ritz Theater and Cinema 6 Theater in Oxford. She was a Baptist and a former long-time resident of Oxford.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 15 at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial was in Eastover Memorial Cemetery in Oxford. Rev. Robert Frierson officiated.
She leaves her husband, Johnnie Lee Pritchard; three daughters, Vickie Henry of Batesville, Jackie Montgomery of Tupelo, Debbie Kinkade of Byhalia; five sons, Lee Sangster of Batesville, Duke Manning of Oxford, Gary Pritchard of Oxford, Richard Pritchard of Byhalia, Michael Pritchard of Oxford; two sisters, Barbara Jean Willis of Thomasville, Ga., Joy Hollis of Thomasville, Ga.; a brother, Frank Sangster of Ft. Myers, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Bernice Roach
Bernice Roach, 81, of Ashland, died June 11, 2007 at Briarcrest Extended Care. She was the widow of Jackie Roach, a Baptist and a salesperson.
Services were held at 6 p.m. on June 13 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in National Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. She leaves a sister, Irene Keeling.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Barnett Jr.
Troy Marsh Samples
Troy Marsh Samples, 83, of Ashland, died June 15, 2007 at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. He was a Methodist, an employee of the Forestry Service for 32 years and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on June 19 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery in Ashland.
He leaves his wife, Mary Anne Samples; a stepson, David McCain of Memphis, Tenn.; six daughters, Barbara Ehrie of Ashland, Sandra Fitzpatrick of Parson, Tenn., Debbie Stone, of Ashland; stepdaughters Lynn Elliott of Ashland, Tina Day of Sommerville, S.C., Patty Anthony of Potts Camp; four brothers, Clyde Samples of Franklin, Tenn., Pete Samples of Nashville, Tenn., Luther (Dube) Samples of Ashland, Waymon Samples of Ashland; three sisters, Mildred Morgan of Ashland; Mary Dickerson of Memphis, Tenn., Melvie Grace Elliott of Ashland; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Helen L. Edwards
Helen Lavon Edwards, 86, of Byhalia died June 5, 2007. She was the widow of James Rufus Edwards Sr. After tenure of 31 years, Helen retired from Citizens Bank of Byhalia, where she was a vice-president. She was a community leader and involved in all aspects of Byhalia United Methodist Church. She was a regional model and spokesperson for several major corporations and was seen on television, outdoor advertising and in print. In 1992, she was crowned Ms. Senior Mississippi and competed in the Ms. Senior America Pageant in Atlantic City where she won The Philosophy of Life Award.
A memorial service was held at Byhalia United Methodist Church at 5 p.m. on June 8.
She leaves two sons, Jimmy Brandt Edwards and Ken Edwards; a brother, Kenneth Ashmuhs of Fayetteville, Ark.; a sister, Dorothy Jo Ashmuhs of San Antonio, Texas; and two grandsons, Brandt and Matt Edwards.

Hayward K. Callicutt
Hayward K. Callicutt, 94, of Holly Springs, formerly of Tutwiler, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Christopher’s Personal Care Home in Holly Springs. He was the widower of Mable Callicutt. He was a graduate of Mississippi Heights Academy in Blue Mountain. A member of First Baptist Church of Tutwiler, he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent for many years. He was alderman for the City of Tutwiler for many years. He was a co-owner of Tutwiler Cotton Gin, member of the board of directors of Jonestown Oil Mill and a lifetime member of Tutwiler Lions Club.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 7 at First Baptist Church in Tutwiler. Burial was in Rosemound Cemetery in Tutwiler. The Rev. J.B. Hays officiated. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves four nephews, Wayburn Callicutt, Edwin Callicutt, both of Holly Springs, Thomas L. Callicutt Jr. of Metairie, La., Dr. Dan Callicutt of New Albany; a niece, Cheryl Swindol of Clarksdale; and a sister-in-law, Jean Callicutt of Clarksdale.

Elizabeth Autry Davis
Elizabeth Autry Davis, 90, of Oxford, died June 9, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Oxford. She was the widow of Samuel Leon (Pee Wee) Davis. A native of Ashland, she graduated from Hickory Flat High School. In 1948, she and her husband become co-owners/operators of the Ashland Cafe. After its sale 10 years later, she managed Gray Drug Store. She retired in 1987 as sales clerk/manager of the outlet store at the ABC Factory in Ashland. She was a member of Ashland Baptist Church, where she played piano for the children’s Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years.
Services were held June 11 at 2 p.m. at Ashland Baptist Church. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery. Rev. W.V. Kemp and Rev. Don Brown officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Leone Davis King of Oxford; a brother, William Ellzey Autry of Ashland; two sisters-in-law, Nyleen Davis Autry and Jo Ann Moody Davis, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Niles Ayres Autry and Arthur Lemuel Autry.
Pallbearers were her nephews, Niles Patterson Autry, Bobby Ayres Autry, Thomas Young Autry, William Roney Autry, James Terry Autry, Mark Kelly Autry, David Wallace Brown, Billy Arthur Autry and Mike Hearn.

John C. Mobley
John C. Mobley, 87, of Tupelo, died June 6, 2007 at his home. Born in Red Banks, he graduated from Red Banks School in Marshall County. He enlisted in the military one year before the start of World War II, and served the duration of the war with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He also served the duration of the Korean War in the Air Force, serving three years in the Far East with the 49th Fighter Bomber Wing. He later served on the Military Science Staff of the Air Force Cadets at Utah State University. He was a member of the American Legion and a Veteran of Foreign Wars. He retired from the Mississippi Farm Bureau Insurance Companies after 44 years. He was a member of the Lee County Scottish Rite Association, and the Hamasa Shrine Temple. He was an honorary member of the staff of the late Governor Paul B. Johnson Jr. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Tupelo where he served on the finance committee. He previously served as president of the administrative council, among other church offices.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 9 at Tupelo Chapel of Holland-Harris Funeral Directors with his pastor, Rev. Mike Hicks officiating. Burial was in Lee Memorial Park.
He leaves his wife of nearly 60 years, Jeanette Barbour Mobley of Tupelo; his daughters, Deborah Ann Morris of Tupelo, Mary Alice Costley of Oxford; his sons, William (Bill) Mobley of Oxford, John Charles (Chuck) Mobley Jr. of Brandon; a sister, Betty Lyles of Hot Springs, Ark.; a brother, Robert Mobley of Holly Springs; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Francis Scheffler, Grace Akroyd, Sara Bunn and Doris Scarbrough; and brothers, Kenneth Mobley, Gilbert Mobley and Milton Mobley Jr.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Will, Mark and Wade; sons-in-law, Jim and Dan and Malcolm Wesson. Honorary pallbearers were fellow members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at St. Luke.
Virginia Lewis
Virginia Lewis, 84, of Holly Springs, formerly of Rossville, Tenn., died June 9, 2007 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab of Holly Springs.
Graveside services were held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Moscow, Tenn., with Bro. Neenan of Pleasant Grove officiating. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a sister-in-law, Helen Dougan Lewis; three nieces, Margaret Elaine Brannon of Raleigh, N.C., Patricia Ann Shelton of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Shelia Marie Fitzhugh of Paris, Tenn.; two great-nephews and a great-niece.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Jack Lewis and Charles Lewis Jr. and two sisters, Katherine Lewis Sorrell and Margaret Emily Lewis Roberson Jones.
