Littie Collins Smith
Littie Collins Smith, 86, of Holly Springs, died June 6, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. She was the widow of Willie Smith.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 9 at St. Mark MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Charity Hill Cemetery, Lake Center Community, Holly Springs. Rev. Derrick Gibbs officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Maxine Richmond of Holly Springs; two brothers, Henry Clay Collins, Leon Moore, both of Holly Springs; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Javin Smith, Regional Smith, Timothy Pegues, Vincent Pegues, Bernice Collins and Jordan Pegues. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of St. Mark MB Church.
Edna Mae Jaudon Clayton
Edna Mae Jaudon Clayton, 93, of Byhalia, died May 28, 2007 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. She was the widow of William Claud Clayton.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 31 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Batesville. Burial was in Peach Creek Cemetery, near Sardis. Rev. Oscar Geeslin officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves five children, William E. Clayton Sr., Thomas E. Clayton, Elizabeth Ann Clayton Helton, Carol J. Clayton Roberson and Janice Clayton Sisk; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two children, Marvin Eli Clayton, Mattie Jean Clayton Johnson; and two sisters, Louise Jaudon Scallorn and Thelma Jaudon Chrestman.

Loreath Edwards
Loreath Edwards, 84, of Hickory Flat, died June 2, 2007 in New Albany.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 5 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Michael Baker officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, O.L. Edwards; a son, Tommy L. Edwards of Hickory Flat; two daughters, Shirley Brewer of Hickory Flat, Deborah Thompson of Hickory Flat; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Fannie Earl Smith Hunt
Fannie Earl Smith Hunt, 78, of Holly Springs, died May 26, 2007 at her home. She was president of the Mother Board, a member of the Missionary Society, and a retired dietician with Marshall County Sheriff’s Department in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 12 noon on June 2 at True Vine MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Darrell E. Cunningham officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Carol Hughes, Donna Jeffries and Carlotta Bosomtwe, all of Holly Springs; two sons, Robert Hunt of Nashville, Tenn., Ronnie Hunt of Ripley; a brother, Percy Smith Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children, William Hunt Jr. and Gloria Hunt.
Pallbearers were Tyjae Jones, Marchello Hunt, Cornelius Jeffries, Jarvae Hunt, Christopher Lester and James Isom. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Hunt, Percy Smith Jr., Edward Hughes, Ronnie Hunt, Gausu Bosomtwe and Lieutenant Jeffries.
Kathleen Margaret Powers
Kathleen Margaret Powers, 53, of Ashland, died June 2, 2007 at her home. She was a member of Red Banks Baptist Church and a caregiver.
Graveside services were held at Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion, Ark. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Lisa Marie Edington of Byhalia; a brother, Stephen Jennings of Holly Springs and two grandchildren.
Bertha Ouida Marion Shaw
Bertha Ouida Marion Shaw, 66, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs and Chicago, died May 25, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She was a former member of Sweet Holy Spirit Full Gospel Baptist Church in Chicago, Ill., where she served as an usher. She was retired from General Electric of Chicago.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 30 at Hopewell No. 1 MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Leroy James officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Samuel (Buck) Shaw; a daughter, Sharron Delaney of Memphis, Tenn.; five sons, Keith Mason, Samuel Mason, both of Holly Springs, Shaun Mason of Memphis, Tenn., Kevin Marion of St. Peters, Mo., Sebastian Marion of Memphis, Tenn.; her mother, Ruby Marion Mason of Holly Springs; two sisters, Betty Pryor, Rose Hood, both of Memphis, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen (Tan) Mason.
Pallbearers were Malcolm Pryor, Royce Luellen, Marcus Jones, Orvis Pryor, Mark Porter and Kendrick Hill. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Mason, Samuel Mason, Kevin Marion, Shaun Mason, Sebastian Marion and Charlie Marion.
Wilson Akins Jr.
Wilson (Bay) Akins Jr., 70, of Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Marshall County, died May 4, 2007 in Kansas City.
He leaves his wife, Willie B. Akins; six sons, Charles Wood of Memphis, Tenn., Jake Childress of Holly Springs, Johnny Rucker, Fred Rucker, Willie Akins, all of Kansas City, Larry Rucker of Adelanto, Calif.; seven daughters, Sheila Pool of Byhalia, Mary, Daenita, Danetta and May Louis Akins, Martha Rucker, Ruth Rucker of Kansas City, Kan.; his sister, Christine Fant of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Otis Coleman of Kansas City, Mo., Jamie Lee Wallace of Holly Springs, Leroy Jefferson of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepsister, Lela Ray Hullaby of Kansas City, Kan.; three stepbrothers, Leonard Coleman, Curtis Coleman, Joe Rucker, both of Kansas City; 57 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Willie (Bub) Akins.
Hattie Norris Freeman
Hattie Norris Freeman, 94, of Horn Lake, died May 24, 2007 at Baptist Desoto Hospital. She was the widow of Edgar W. Freeman Sr. She was a member of Ashland Baptist and a sales employee with United Paint Store.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Bro. Troy Defer officiated.
She leaves a daughter, Edna Kosma of Horn Lake; a grandson; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Edgar W. Freeman Jr.
