Lillian Cox Wilson
Lillian Cox Wilson, 93, of Potts Camp, died May 22, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of Rev. J. Frank Wilson. She had lived in this area since 1948.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 25 at Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, where she was a member. Rev. Raymond Bishop, Rev. Tony Carson, Rev. John Wilson, Rev. Steve Wilson and Rev. J. Michael Wilson officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves five daughters, Joanna Murphy, Becky Goldman, Bettie Wayne Wilson, all of Potts Camp, Frankie Bishop of New Albany, Martha Carson of Lafayette, Ind.; five sons, Rev. Steve Wilson, Sam Wilson, Tim Wilson, all of Potts Camp, Rev. John Wilson of Nashville, Tenn., Rev. J. Michael Wilson of Parsons, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Kimberly Jane Pence Wright
Kimberly Jane Pence Wright, 35, of Hernando, died May 22, 2007 at Methodist Germantown Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a Baptist and an RN.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 25 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carey Chapel Cemetery. Bro. O.E. Langner officiated.
She leaves a daughter, Macey Wright of Lewisburg; a son, Coleman Wright of Lewisburg; her father, Gene A. Bobbitt and wife Denise of Mt. Pleasant; her mother, Toni Bobbitt and husband Billy of Lewisburg; a brother, Barry Lee of Olive Branch; and three sisters, Donna Rhodes of Mt. Pleasant, Tracy Fitch of Iuka and Pamela Dixon of Oakland, Tenn.
Bettye Jean Arnold
Bettye Jean Arnold, 76, of Byhalia, died May 9, 2007. She was a Baptist.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.
She leaves four sons, Charles King of Summerville, S.C., Larry King of Lake Jackson, Tx., Greg King of Senatobia, Jeff King of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, James McCartney of Rainbow City, Ala.; three sisters, Flores Craddock of Lake Jackson, Tx., Tiny Rice of Angelton, Tx., Annie Bell Morgan of Rainbow City, Ala.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Alayna Joyce Avery
Alayna Joyce Avery, 11 days old, died May 9, 2007 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on May 12 at Autumn Woods Memorial Park Cemetery in Olive Branch. Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her parents, Nathan and Katrina Avery of Byhalia; a twin sister, Alyssa Jean Avery; grandparents, Jimmy and Loraine Avery, Sheila and Joey Clark, Jerry and Brenda Gibbs; great-grandparents, Doris Webb, Hattie Avery, Donna Lauing and Buddy Clark; great-great-grandparents, Edith Bass, Marie Webb and Emma Garrison.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Roger Webb, Brenda Clark, James Avery and Dellis Lauing.
John Eldridge Byers
John Eldridge Byers, 66, of Augusta, Ark., formerly of Waterford, died May 5, 2007 at Cotton Plant, Ark. He was a high school counselor with Augusta High School.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 12 at Hamilton Chapel CME Church in Waterford. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Billy Williams officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Bertha Floyd Byers; two daughters, Carolyn (E.D.) Byers-Zeffer of Bentonville, Ark., Geral Dean (Peaches) Towne of Searcy, Ark.; a son, Kevin Byers of Augusta, Ark.; six sisters, Doris Byers, Ethel Wooten, Laura Turnage, all of Waterford, Annie Young of Abbeville, Mary Lay of Orlando, Fla, Eunice Adams of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Temple; six brothers, Arnie B. Byers, Odie Byers, Charlie Byers, James Byers, Thomas Charles (T.C.) Byers and Earnest Byers.
Pallbearers were Alvin Byers, Lawrence Wooten Jr. III, Robert Byers, Kevin Byers Sr., Mark Byers and Jordan Byers. Honorary pallbearers were Dameon Brown, Brandon Brown, Adrian Byers, Chris Byers, Kevin Byers Jr. and Taylor Jeffries.
Marinteen Young Danner
Marinteen Young Danner, 82, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died May 1, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of James Danner. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Memphis, Tenn. and a retired nurse’s assistant with Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 9 at Overton Park 7th Day Adventist Church in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Elder Ed Donald officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Paul Danner Sr. of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Lucy Hamilton of Holly Springs, Ethel Young, Gladys White, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Webster Young of Holly Springs, Chester Young of Omaha, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughters Geraldine Farmer, Rennie Danner Porter, Elsalena Farmer Kirkwood and Linda Danner.
Honorary pallbearers were Eric Anderson, Andre Anderson, Paul A.M. Danner Jr., Cedric Kirkwood, Allandous Carson and Travin Butler. Pallbearers were David Brigs Sr., William Winfrey, James Bills Jr., Orlando Birdges, Joshual Bills and Michael Virgous.
Connie Lee Seay Dilworth
Connie Lee Seay Dilworth, 72, of Holly Springs, died May 9, 2007 at Alliance HealthCare System. She was the widow of Floyce Dilworth. She was a member of the usher board and Heroines of Jericho Court #14.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 15 at Providence MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Alonzo Johnson, Rev. Gifton Jones officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Laverne Seay of Memphis, Tenn.; a son, Floyice E. Dilworth of Holly Springs; two sisters, Pearline Beard of Memphis, Tenn., Teresa Robinson of Buffalo, N.Y.; two brothers, James Seay of Memphis, Tenn., Loe Seay of Peoria, Ill.; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Robert Eric Hoyt
Robert Eric (Bob) Hoyt, 77, of Ashland, died May 14, 2007 at Briarcrest Nursing Home in Ashland. He worked as a painting contractor in Memphis, Tenn., until his retirement in 2007, at which time he moved to Ashland. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Unity Masonic Lodge #95 in Memphis and the Memphis Scottish Rite Bodies.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 15 at Ashland United Methodist Church. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Jean W. Hoyt; a son, Robert Eric Hoyt II of Holly Springs; a daughter, Laura Grubbs of Ashland; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ashland United Methodist Church in Ashland or the Memphis Scottish Rite Foundation, 825 Union Avenue in Memphis.
