Bobbie D. Gresham
Bobbie D. Gresham, 63, of Camden Tenn., formerly of Benton County, died Aug. 31, 2007 at his home. The widower of Joyce Jamieson Gresham, he was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army and a maintenance supervisor for the U.S. Army Airport Authority. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 4 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Potts Camp.
He leaves a son, Bobby D. Gresham Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Judy Phelps of Tupelo, Patrika D. Huckaby of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, John Edward Gresham of Hickory Flat, Jimmy Dale Gresham, Terry Gresham, both of Blue Springs; two sisters, Charlotte Smithey, Barbara Smith, both of Myrtle and nine grandchildren.Laverne Hoover
Laverne Hoover, 75, of Ashland, died Sept. 1, 2007 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, she was the widow of Casey Hoover.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 3 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Liberty Cemetery. Bro. Robert Buse officiated.
She leaves a son, Terry Hoover of Ashland; and a sister, Joy Rolinston of Atlanta, Ga.
Willie Fant Woodson
Willie Fant Woodson, 97, of Holly Springs, died August 28, 2007 at her home. The widow of Daniel Woodson, she was a member of Finley Grove MB Church in Holly Springs, where she was on the Missionary and Mother boards. She was the oldest living member of her church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 1 at Finley Grove Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. James Green officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Catherine Woodson Freeman of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, George Woodson of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Garrison, Katie Fant, Caldonia Fant; and three brothers, Leo Fant, Sam Fant Jr. and Fred McCraven.
Pallbearers were Roger Woodson, Jason Bownes, Jarvis Woodson, Johnathan Bownes, Matthew Lawrence, Herman Houston, Brian Freeman. Hononary pallbearers were Robert L. Woodson, Bob Dawson, Carl Dawson, Henry Freeman, Edward L. Garrison, Charles Scullark.
Nyleen Davis Autry
Nyleen Davis Autry, 90, of Ashland, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Christopher’s Personal Care Home in Holly Springs. She was a member of the Ashland Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was the widow of Niles Autry.
Services were Tuesday, August 21, at 11 a.m. at the Ashland Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Renick officiating. Burial was in the Ashland Cemetery. Ripley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Pat Autry of Louisville, Bobby Autry of Ashland and Tommy Autry of Wyatte; one brother, Vernon Davis of Ripley; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Pat Autry, Jr, Scott Autry, Shane Autry, David Wilson, Brandon Autry and Jason Ferguson
Dorothy Newman Bumpus
Dorothy Newman Bumpus, 82, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 22, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of Jesse Bumpus, a member of the WMU at her church and a retired assistant teacher.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 25 at Red Banks Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Troy Defer officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two sons, Tim Bumpus of Holly Springs, Jesse Bumpus III of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Norma Davis of Holly Springs; a brother, Dewey Newman of Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Alta Lane of Adamsville, Tenn., Ann Ladd of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
Charles L. Churchill
Charles L. Churchill, 35, of Potts Camp, died Aug. 23, 2007 at his home. He was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and a carpenter.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery. Bro. Steve Wilson officiated.
He leaves his wife, Amanda Churchill of Ripley; a son, Charles Churchill III of Potts Camp; two daughters, Masey Churchill of Potts Camp, Victoria Churchill of Laws Hill; his step-father and mother, Ricky and Mae Ash of Potts Camp; and a stepsister, Cindy Gadd of Ohio.
Pallbearers were Timmy Ford, Sammy Ford, Barry Lloyd, Jody Ash, Lonnie Ash, Eric Riley, Mark Pannell, Randy Harris, Alan Bing and Jamie Colston.
Katherine Bone Delashmit
Katherine Bone Delashmit, 86, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 24, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of Rev. Marshall Delashmit and a member of Chewalla Assembly of God.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on Aug. 27 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. James Alverson officiated.
She leaves four daughters, Margaret (Peggy) Delashmit Long, Joan Kilburn, Joyce Delashmit, all of Holly Springs, Kathy Rhodes of Barton; two brothers, Joel Bone of Covington, Tenn., Paul Bone of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Flora Biggs of Millington, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Elton Delashmit.
Annie Lanell Fesmire
Annie Lanell Fesmire, 73, of Oxford, died Aug. 23, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of George Clinton Fesmire and retired from Whirlpool.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 26 at Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church in Lafayette Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder John Mosley officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves four sons, Dennis Ray Carwile, Richard Carwile, Joey Carwile, all of Oxford, George Fesmire Jr. of Pontotoc; a daughter, Becky Smith of Oxford; a brother, Russell Waldrip of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Dorrah Metts of Como; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donnie Carwile, Calla Carwile, Jeremy Carwile, Chris Carwile, Billy Amos and Chad Carwile. Honorary pallbearers were Devin Smith, Michael Smith, Danny Metts and Jesse Fesmire.
Orie Gunn
Orie (Luster) Gunn, 97, of Faulkner, died Aug. 16, 2007 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of General Gunn.
Services were held at 12 noon on Aug. 17 at Ball Hill Baptist Church in Tiplersville, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. McGhee & Sons Funeral Home, Holly Springs, was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves six children, Mack Gunn, George Steele, Otis Gunn, Zadie Williams, Laura Gunn, Catherine Brown; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thurmond Gunn.
