Felix Linwood Rencher Sr.
Felix Linwood (Sunnyboy) (DaDa) Rencher Sr., 85, of Ypsilanti, MI, formerly of Holly Springs, died June 17, 2007 in Sikeston, Mo. He was the widower of Mildred Louise Carter Rencher. He served in the United States Army in World War II. He worked as a teacher and principal. He was employed with AC Spark Plug (currently known as Delphi) in Flint, Mich.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on June 23 at Bethel United Methodist Church, Flint, Mich. Burial was in River Rest Cemetery, Flint, Mich. Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Flint, Mich., was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a son, Maurice Rencher of Flint; a daughter, Marian Thurman of Ypsilanti, Mich., a son, Felix Rencher Jr. of Bloomington, Ill; two sisters, Marie McGirt of Los Angeles, Calif., Ollie Belle Dowsing of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Varner Rencher of Clarksdale; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Lottie Craine Tucker
Lottie Craine Tucker, 93, of Ashland, died Aug. 1, 2007 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was the widow of Lawrence Tucker. She was a former member of Free Branch MB Church in Holly Springs, a member of the mother’s board, a choir member, a member of the usher board, a Sunday school teacher and she was employed with the 4-H Club, Home Extension.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 at Hopewell No. 2 MB Church in Hudsonville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Danny Kimbrough officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two daughters, Josephine Breazeal of Macon, Ga., Lottie McMillian of Miami, Fla.; a son, Walker Tucker of Ashland; a sister, Bessie Kimbrough of Holly Springs, a brother, Sol Craine of Holly Springs; and 19 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernice Oliver.
Pallbearers were Robert Crain, Rafael Kimbrough, Earl Love, Zackery Cornelious, Robert Isom, Lindsey Jones and Aurther Sellers. Honorary pallbearers were deacons, Rev. Sylvester Oliver Sr., Robert Breazeal and Alvin Fortenberry.
Hugh Walker Carpenter
Hugh Walker (Jim) Carpenter, 80, of Holly Springs, died July 24, 2007 at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo. He was the widower of Irene Carpenter. He was the retired owner of Carpenter’s Grocery Store and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Services were held at at 10 a.m. on July 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. .
He leaves three daughters, Linda Bourgeois of Memphis, Tenn., Carol Scherff, Peggy Joyner, both of Tupelo; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherian Mayers.
Roberta Ivy
Roberta Ivy, 57, of Oxford, died July 26, 2007 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She joined New Salem MB Church and later New Hope in Oxford.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 1 at T.O.M.B. District Church in Oxford. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Oxford. Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Lisa Doolittle of Oxford; a son, Robert Gene Ivy of Oxford; a special son, Scott Gilliom; her father, John Mitchell Joiner of Oxford; three brothers, James Houston, David Joiner, Clarence Joiner, all of Oxford; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Johnson, Albert Moody, Zenotha Burt, Michael Fox, Jamie Shaw, Carl Mitchell and Kenneth Houston.
Luellar Todd Jones
Luellar Todd Jones, 88, of Red Banks, died July 23, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Collierville, in Collierville, Tenn. She was a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ, and a member of the Mother board.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 29 at Mt. Zion Taska MB Church in Cayce, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder Albert Pass officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Ernest B. Jones Sr.; five daughters, Rebecca Brown of Jackson, Lurline Walls, Annie Richmond, both of Red Banks, Delcenia Daniels, Earnestine Taylor, both of Holly Springs; four sons, Leroy Jones of Holly Springs, Ernest B. Jones Jr., Clarence Jones, Arverne Jones, all of Red Banks; a sister, Lettie B. Jones of Cayce; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Christopher Brown, Marcus Daniels, Nicholas Jones, Daniel Brown, Jedidiah Jones, Andrew McFarland and Richard Alexander Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Brown, Arverne Jones, Ernest B. Jones Jr., Earl Richmond, Antoine Taylor, Johnny Daniels, Clarence Jones, Leroy Jones, Kelvin Richmond, Ozell Taylor and Roosevelt Walls.
Percell Kizer
Percell Kizer, 70, of Byhalia, died July 22, 2007 at his home. He was employed at Victoria Hardware for several years.
Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Iria Lee Kizer; five children, Vickey Kizer-Harmon, Paul Kizer, both of Gary, Ind., Marty Kizer of Jacksonville, Fla., Donna Kizer of Hernando, Percell Kizer of Jr. of Joliet, Ill.; and two brothers, Curtis Kizer, Charles Kizer; a sister, Pauletta Scott of Byhalia.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lacy Kelcy.
Noble Jones Muse
Noble Jones Muse, 78, of Red Banks, died July 22, 2007 at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Long Beach, Calif. She was the widow of Robert J. Muse. She was retired from Ford Motor Company.
Services were held at 12 noon on July 28 at Chulahoma MB Church, Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. John E. Booker Sr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Beverly Muse of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Robert J. Muse Jr. of Holly Springs, Jolett Melvin Muse of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Carnel Brown of Holly Springs; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Peter Payne, Lewis Jones, Mark Laster, Stanley Jones, Peter Jones, Jordan Muse, Corey Lloyd and Wheatley Brown Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Muse, Hubcap Hubbard, Wheatley Brown Sr., Robert Muse Jr., Howard Jones and Joe Jones.
Preston Montrail Sanderson
Preston Montrail Sanderson, 18, of Holly Springs, died July 23, 2007 at Hwy. 78 eastbound near the Marshall and DeSoto county line. He was a member of Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs, a 2007 graduate of Byhalia High School, DECA member and a dietary employee of Trinity Mission Health & Rehab in Byhalia.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 28 at Galena School. Burial was in Chulahoma MB Church Cemetery in Holly Springs. Rev. McArthur King and Rev. Rondias Cox officiated.
He leaves his mother, Ruthie B. Sanderson-Johnson of Holly Springs; his father, Oscar Lee Harris of Tyro; his stepfather, Sylvester Mark Johnson of Ashland; his grandmothers, Colia Sanderson of Holly Springs, Mary Green Fitts of Tyro; and a stepsister, LaQuita Chears of Grand Junction, Tenn.
Pallbearers were Zabarian Walker, Levar Craine, Preston Wilkins, LaDawn Wright, Narico Harvey, Darrius McClartey, Trevez Marion and Jeraldo LeSure. Honorary pallbearers were Emerson Hamilton, Robert Pool Jr., Kendrick Pool, Robert Sanderson, Terrian Pool, Roy Sanderson and Charlie Sanderson Jr.
