Eula Ree Gordon Thomas, 70, of Waterford, died July 20, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Odell Thomas Sr. She was a member of Walton Chapel CME Church in Waterford, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Services were held at 12 noon on July 25 at Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Waterford. Burial was in Walton Chapel CME Church Cemetery in Waterford. Rev. Eric Shields officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Merilyn Hill of Memphis, Tenn., Sherrye Thomas, Lorraine Thomas, both of Waterford; four sons, Odell Thomas Jr. of Byhalia, Donald Thomas of Norfolk, Va., Danny Thomas of Oxford, John Thomas of Pontotoc; a sister, Beulah Hardy of New Orleans, La.; a brother, Nathan Gordon of Oxford; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Odell Thomas Jr., John Patrick Thomas, Frank Thomas, Myron Thomas, Leslie Curry, Donald Ray Thomas, Danny Thomas, Brian Thomas, Shaun Thomas and John Malone.
Chan Beavers
Chan Beavers, 43, of Southaven, died July 20, 2007 at his home. He was an Army veteran and a pressman for Color Craft.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on July 23 at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Southaven.
He leaves his mother and stepfather, Tommye and Gerald Seawright of Southaven; a brother, Joseph Michael Beavers of Byhalia; a half-brother, Ricky Beavers of Victoria; and two stepbrothers, Robert Seawright of Southaven, Rick Seawright of Olive Branch.
Nicola Hreish
Nicola Hreish, 74, of Collierville, Tenn., died July 18, 2007 at Baptist Hospital Collierville. He was Greek Orthodox and a body shop owner.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 19 at St. John’s Catholic Church. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Erma Yulanda Ivy, 54, of Huntsville, Ala., formerly of Holly Springs, died July 15, 2007 at Huntsville Hospital. She was a member of Union Chapel MB Church in Huntsville and a contract specialist.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on July 21 at Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. O. Wendell Davis officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, LaBrawn Ivy of Huntsville, Ala.; her father, Herman Ivy Sr. of Memphis, Tenn.; her mother, Juanita V. Ivy of Holly Springs; five sisters, Shirley Jones, Cynthia Terry, Marilyn Curry, Tina Selman, all of Holly Springs, Naomi Flagg of Atlanta, Ga.; six brothers, Cecil Ivy of Oakland, Calif., Herman Ivy Jr., Alfred Lynn Ivy, both of Holly Springs, Carey Ivy of Huntsville, Ala., Samuel Ivy of Memphis, Tenn., Danny Dwight Ivy of Batesville, Ala.
Pallbearers were Union Chapel Deacons Ministry. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Ivy, Herman Ivy Sr., Carey Ivy, Samuel Ivy, Alfred Ivy and Danny Ivy.
Frances McDaniel
Frances Lois McDaniel, 89, of Holly Springs, died July 19, 2007 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehabilitation in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Oliver R. McDaniel. She was a member of Friendship Assembly of God in Victoria.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on July 23 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery in Friendship, Tenn.
She leaves a son, Jesse P. McDaniel of Memphis; two brothers, Buford L. Garrett of Byhalia, Kenneth Garrett of Springdale, Ark.; and a grandson.
Carol Jean Pegues
Carol Jean Pegues, 55, of Milwaukee, Wisc., formerly of Holly Springs, died July 14, 2007. She received her formal education at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Holly Springs, and Jackson State University. She was employed at LaVarnway Boys and Girls Club, and Plastronics; she then worked for Wisconsin Electric.
She leaves her daughters, Jamie Johnson, Brandi Johnson; a brother, Elliott Johnson; a sister, Mae Frances Martin; and a granddaughter.
Isaac Phillips
Isaac Phillips, 81, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died July 13, 2007 in Chicago. He was the widower of Dorothy Clinkscales. He accepted the call in the ministry and was ordained at the Mt. Zion MB Church under the late Rev. W.H. Stockard. He was the pastor of the Greater Joy MB Church in Chicago.
He leaves his wife, Ruth Phillips, eight children, Carolyn, Isaac Jr., Doris, Eileen, Christine, Mark, Paul and Janet; stepchildren, Denise, Roberta, Shane and Rhonda; a brother, Rev. S.A. Phillips of Holly Springs; a sister, Madora Phillips Pate of Chicago; grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan; a daughter, Beverly; brothers, Will Henry, John Rogers, Emmon, Joseph and John Wesley; sisters, Josephine, Jessie Mae, Ida Mae; and grandson, Isaac Phillips III.
Dorothy Frazier Tindall
Dorothy Frazier Tindall, 90, of Holly Springs, died July 17, 2007 at Trinity Missions Health and Rehab. She was the widow of Milburn Tindall and a Christian.
Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m. on July 20 at Bauxite Cemetery in Bauxite, Ark. Bro. Curtis Kyle officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a granddaughter, Jolee Brewer.
Richard Delma Whaley Jr.
Richard Delma Whaley Jr., 68, of Potts Camp, died July 17, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and road construction worker.
A memorial service was held. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two sons, Richard Delma Whaley III of Saltillo, David Eugene Whaley of Blue Mountain, Darryl Whaley of Horn Lake; two daughters, Laura Davis of Macedonia, Leslie Stanton; a sister, Martha Fitch of Collierville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mary L. (Sue) Wood, 71, of Waterford, died July 19, 2007 in Tupelo.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 22 at Collierville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on July 24.
She leaves her husband, Thomas L. Wood; three daughters, Linda Sue Hines of Poteet, Ky., Mary Elizabeth Wood of Nashville, Tenn., Rose Marie Harris of Byhalia; four sons, James Louis Wood of Byhalia, Thomas N. Wood of Waterford, William F. Wood of Byhalia, David L. Wood of Oklahoma; three sisters, Lillie Pilgram, Lelia Marshall, Nell Ann Gowdey, all of Hernando; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
