Willie B. Kendrick, 77, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 20, 2007 at Alliance HealthCare System.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Hardaway MB Church in Michigan City. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Adam Gholson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two daughters, Annie M. Davis, Dorothy Hurdle, both of Grand Junction, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Rose Marie Leopard
Rose Marie Leopard, 52, died Feb. 24, 2007 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
She leaves two daughters, Tamaron Lopez, Sarah Leopard, both of Byhalia; a son, Walter Leopard of Byhalia; her father, Walter J. Moore of Byhalia; a sister, Loraine Counce of Calapatria, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Kathleen Weatherly Robinson
Kathleen Weatherly Robinson, 85, of Waterford, died Feb. 21, 2007 at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford. She was the widow of Brooks Robinson and a U.S. postal clerk.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Waterford Cemetery.
She leaves two sons, David Robinson of Hattiesburg, Scott Robinson of Waterford; a daughter, Conway Moore of Waterford; a sister, Tot Martindale of Ripley; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Neil Weatherly and a sister, Georgia Hurdle.
Ruby Evelyn Scott
Ruby Evelyn Scott, 86, of Potts Camp, died Feb. 20, 2007 in Oxford. She was the widow of Hardy Leo Scott. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Don Seats officiated.
She leaves a son, Rev. Harvey Scott of Potts Camp; a brother, Louis Shackelford of Marble Hill, Mo.; a sister, Earnestine Jeffries of Ft. Smith, Ark.; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Harvey Jr., Michael Scott, Brandon Scott, Neil Whaley, Brett Whaley and Keith Heaton. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Whaley, Bobby Vaughn, Cloyd Cook, Lyndal Cook, Brandon Cook, Ken Hartfield, Fred Whaley and Ronnie Day.
Eva Ray Pierce Wilburn
Eva Ray Pierce Wilburn, 84, of Moscow, Tenn., died Feb. 21, 2007 at Trinity Mission in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Joseph Willard Wilburn Sr., a member of Early Grove Methodist Church and retired from Troxel.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Early Grove Cemetery in Lamar. Rev. Pat Roseberry, Rev. Joe Lawson, Rev. Walter Myers officiated.
She leaves two sons, Joseph W. Wilburn Jr. of Moscow, Tenn., Rev. Rex Wilburn of Bruce; four daughters, Eva Wilburn Harvey, Janice Wilburn McDonald, both of Memphis, Tenn., Rev. Anita Kay Wilburn Lawson of Potts Camp, Ann Wilburn Gandy of Potts Camp; a brother, Julian Pierce of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Wilburn, Joey Lawson, A.T. Lawson, Heath Wilburn, Matthew Wilburn, Richard Pierce and Larry Pierce.
Sweetie Finley Bell Briggs
Sweetie Finley Bell Briggs, 92, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 13, 2007 at Christopher’s Personal Care Home. She was the widow of Joe Bell and David Briggs. She served as delegate to the Women’s General Assembly of the CME Church, president of the North Mississippi Annual Conference Women’s Missionary Society for 16 years, director of the Missionary Institute of Louisiana and Mississippi, delegate to the General Conference, member of Heroines of Jericho Court No. 38, charter member of Holly Springs Federated Improvement Club, co-founder of the Socialite Club, Marshall County Teachers Association, graduate of Mississippi Industrial College, further study at the University of Mississippi, Blue Mountain College, Lemoyne-Owen College, Jackson State University, Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 1978-79 and was a retired teacher of the Holly Springs School District for more than 32 years.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 18 at Anderson Chapel CME Church. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Denise Anders-Modest officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her caregiver, Artis Walton Sr. of Holly Springs; a sister-in-law, Arlillie Finley of Holly Springs; and a brother-in-law, Calvin Leggs of Detroit, Mich.
Pallbearers were Willie James Faulkner, Douglas Faulkner, Oliver Finley, Melvin W. Walker, James Alford, Jamon Alford, Douglas Walker and Willie Lee Finley. Honorary pallbearers were stewards and nephews.
Dorothy Mae Brown Cowan
Dorothy Mae Brown Cowan, 77, of Holly Springs, died Feb. 10, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of A.T. Cowan.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 17 at Gray’s Chapel CME Church in Hudsonville, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Arthur Brown officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves six daughters, Gloria Parker, Patricia Parker, both of Victoria, Pauline Stevenson, Sarah Cowan, Brenda Cowan, Demetria Cowan, all of Holly Springs; a son, Willie Brown of Holly Springs; two sisters, Earline Snow of Holly Springs, Ozell Elliott of Memphis; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Leroy Snow, Michael Snow, David Snow, Leon Snow, Dewayne Cunning and Christopher Lesure. Honorary pallbearers were Cortez Cowan, Cedric Stevenson, Timothy Brown, Joe L. Stevenson Jr., Kevin Lewis and Bobby Snow.
Fannie Epps
Fannie Epps, 100, of Michigan City, died Feb. 10, 2007 at Briarcrest Extended Care in Ashland. She was a farmer and homemaker.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 17 at Hebron MB Church in Lamar, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Adam Gholson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a granddaughter, Edith Gaillard of Michigan City; a great-granddaughter, April Blount of Memphis, Tenn.; a great-grandson, Brandon Gaillard of Michigan City; a niece, Sarah Ivory of Michigan City; a sister, Alice Bradford of Memphis, Tenn.; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Era Spann; two sisters and seven brothers.
Pallbearers were nephews and great-nephews.
