Services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 6 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery.
He leaves his mother and stepfather, Geraldine Harris Pegram and Charles Pegram of Holly Springs; five daughters, Resha Howard of Olive Branch, Summer Harris of Potts Camp, Christina Harris, Crystal Harris, both of Walls, Amber Jones of Collierville, Tenn.; a sister, Trish Gamblin of Corinth; and eight grandchildren.
Roy Lee Reynolds
Roy Lee Reynolds, 48, of Waupun Wisc., formerly of Waterford, died Nov. 17, 2010 in Waupun.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 22, at Mt. Comfort CME Church in Waterford. Burial was in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Shanika Reynolds of Indianapolis, Ind.; his mother, Dorothy Lay Reynolds of Waterford; three sisters, Vernell Tunstall of Waterford, Linda James of Aurora, Ill., Ruby Henley of Holly Springs; a brother, Martel Pryor of Aurora; and four grandchildren.
Catherine Jefferson Sea
Catherine Jefferson Sea, 83, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 12, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Cornelious Sea and retired from food service at the University of Minnesota.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. S.A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two sisters, Hester Craine of Holly Springs, Linda Ann Jefferson of Chicago, Ill.; and two brothers, Eddie Lee Jefferson of Memphis, Tenn. and Louis Jefferson of Holly Springs.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beatrice Jefferson and siblings Ellis Jefferson, Ruth Rucker, Earnest Jefferson, Curtis Jefferson and Harold Jefferson.
Tillman Snipe Shelton Sr.
Tillman Snipe Shelton Sr., 84, of Holly Springs, died Nov. 17 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. He was a church deacon and church usher and a retired laborer for the Mississippi Forestry Service.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 27 at Hopewell No. 2 MB Church in Hudsonville, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Danny Kimbrough officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Ruthie Hughes Shelton; six daughters, Lola Beard, Marjorie Sise, Shelia Shelton, all of Holly Springs, Eva Jackson of Ashland, Lurlean Shelton of Spring, Tx., Willie Ann Shelton of Houston, Tx.; three sons, Tillman Shelton Jr. of Aurora, Ill., Isaac Shelton of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ollie Shelton of Holly Springs; 21 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Carnail Shelton.
Marlean Holloway Smith
Marlean Holloway Smith, 67, of Byhalia, died Nov. 14, 2010 at her home. She was a member or Rising Star MB Church in Holly Springs and the widow of John L. Smith. She was a retired custodian at North Central EPA in Byhalia.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Nov. 20 at Chulahoma MB Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Bell officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two children, Oralean Sholar, Johnnie Ree Smith, both of Byhalia; two sisters, Ida B. Porter, Jewel Adkins, both of Holly Springs; two brothers, Cecil Adkins of Hickory Flat, Willie Mays of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren and her significant other, R.L. Burnside Jr.
Pallbearers were Corey Thoms, Dewayne Sholar, Terry Porter, John Lacy, Kevin Jackson, R.L. Burnside, and Jerald Faulkner.
Annie B. Walls Wells
Annie B. Walls Wells, 95, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Nov. 15, 2010 at St. Peter Villa Nursing Home in Memphis. She was a member of Gray’s Chapel CME Church in Hudsonville and a Mississippi 4-H Club leader. She was a retired cook at Taylor’s Cafe and the widow of Austin Wells.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Gray’s Chapel, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. George Wells officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves five children, Henrine Smith, Mary A. Davis, both of Memphis, Tenn., Thelma Wells of Birmingham, Ala., William Wells of Norfolk, Va., Rev. George “Uddie” Wells of Huntsville, Ala.; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by siblings Ophelia, Josephine, Virgin Mary, Woodrow, Johnnie, D.S. and Edgar Walls.
Pallbearers were Lenwood Isable, Jevon Walls, Charles Walls, Sidney Brown Jr., Cedric Isable, Eugene Nelson, Cameron Mosley, Stephen Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Shun Wells, Joseph Mosley, William Smith, Carvail Wells, Joseph Briggs, Joe Davis Jr., Anthony Wells and Marcus Wells.
Andrew Lee Hearn
Andrew Lee Hearn, 61, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 25, 2007 at his home. He was a member of Wilkins Chapel CME Church in Waterford.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 28 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Springs, with burial in the Wilkins Chapel Cemetery. Rev. A.V. Warren Jr. officiated.
He leaves four sisters, Louise Riddle, Olivia Bynote, Frances Lester, all of Holly Springs, Annie Marion of Potts Camp; and a brother, Mansfield Hearn of Waterford.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clim Hearn.
Robert Harold Hurdle
Robert Harold Hurdle, 67, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 24, 2007 at his home. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Holly Springs, a cattleman and a farmer.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 27 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Curtis Ferrell officiated.
He leaves his wife, Scarlett Ellington Hurdle; his mother, Viola Hurdle of Holly Springs; two sons, Robb Hurdle of Holly Springs, Landy Hurdle of Clarksdale; his brother, James Hurdle of Holly Springs; two sisters, Bonnie Bynum of Searcy, Ark., Helen Mason of Holly Springs; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robb Hurdle, Landy Hurdle, Ronnie Jones, John B. Curl, Frank Swords, Bobby McAlexander, Troy Loupe, Kenny Dickerson and Jonathan Burch. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Carpenter, Wayne Cook, Bobby Fant, Neil Bain, Wayburn Callicutt, Gary Barnett, Conley Wilson, Greg Taylor, Dick Douglas, Jakey K. Hurdle, Tom Hurdle Jr. and Tubby Gresham.
