Services were held at 1:30 on June 25 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Charles S. Eaves Sr.; children, Roxanne Thornton of Chattanooga, Tenn., John Eaves of Marion, Ark., Linda Stafford of Millersville, Mo., Mary Embrey of Olive Branch, Charles S. Eaves Jr. of Byhalia; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Milton Dennis Forester
Milton Dennis Forester, 59, of Potts Camp, died June 22, 2008 at his home. He was a Baptist and a mechanic.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Hickory Flat.
He leaves his wife, Patsy Forester; a son, Jason Lebo of Potts Camp; a sister, Beverly Bailey of Holly Springs; and a grandson.
Kanyia Ayunna Harris
Kanyia Ayunna Harris, 4 days old, died June 13, 2008 at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on June 15 at Mt. Newell Memorial Garden in Red Banks. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, Shunekia Harris of Byhalia; her father, Tonye Horton of Collierville, Tenn.; two sisters, Makya Wells of the home, Anesha Horton of Collierville, Tenn.; a brother, Antonius Horton of Collierville, Tenn.; her grandmother, Brenda Wells of Byhalia; grandfather, Charlie Hill of Victoria; great-grandmother, Annie Kizer of Byhalia, great-great-grandmother, Amelia Wells of Byhalia; paternal grandmother, Irma Keller and grandfather, Charles Hurt of Collierville, Tenn.
Barbara Ann Phillips-Houston
Barbara Ann Phillips-Houston, 52, of Oxford, died June 12, 2008 at her home. She was the widow of Charles David Houston and a member of Second Baptist Church.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 21 at T.O.M.B. Association Building. Burial was in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Eddie Goliday officiated. Hodges-Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Africia Houston of Oxford; three sons, Jeremy Houston, Ferron Houston, both of Oxford, Marlon Houston of Horn Lake; three brothers, Angelo Phillips of Birmingham, Ala., Desmond Phillips of Holly Springs, Fredrick Phillips of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Brenda Phillips-Pettis of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
Elijah Javincio Mayes
Elijah Javincio Mayes, 14, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died June 15 at Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tenn. He was an eighth grade student at Kirby Middle School, in Memphis, Tenn., an honor student, member of Mighty God Ministries and youth choir.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on June 21 at Rust College Doxey Auditorium in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Marvin Brooks officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Alicea Mayes of Memphis, Tenn.; his father, Kevin Burke of Holly Springs; a sister, Kanesha Mayes of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Adarius Mayes of Memphis, Tenn.; grandmothers Barbara Campbell of Holly Springs, Gloria Burke of Holly Springs; grandfathers, Benjamin Mayes of Olive Branch, Jack Burke of Holly Springs; and great-grandmothers, Emma Whaley, Mattie Lee Mayes, both of Holly Springs.

Shomari Roytez Shorter
Shomari Roytez Shorter, 13, of Myrtle, died June 14, 2008 at his home. He had completed the seventh grade at Myrtle School, where he played on the junior basketball team under Coach Ashley. He was baptized Dec. 29, 2006 at New Beginning True Bibleway Church.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on June 21 at New Beginning True Bibleway Church, where he was a faithful member and the pastor’s helper. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bishop Willie G. Ball officiated. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his parents, Roy and Mary Shorter Scales; a brother, Darius (Tooky) Shorter; a sister, Kanesha Shorter of Myrtle; his grandfather, Junior Harold (Buster) Judge of Ashland; and his grandmother, Bessie Mae Shorter of New Albany.
Pallbearers were Cedrick McAllister, Ron Scales, Harold Scales Jr., Calvin Scales, Charlie Scales, Ricky Shorter and William Davis Scales.

Darin Dewayne Brooks, 40, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 29, 2007 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was disabled.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 5 at New Hope CME Church in Red Banks, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert J. Mathews Jr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a son, Antoine McNeil of Holly Springs; a sister, Sharon Brooks of Holly Springs and a grandson, James McNeil of Holly Springs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Batts Brooks and his father, Wayne Moore Brooks.
Pallbearers were Ernest Cunningham, Antony Faulkner, Ivon Johnson, Robert Lee Batts, Alvin Barsdale and Columbus Nabors. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Earl Batts, Donzell Batts, Napoleon Smith, Fulton Brooks, Charles David Batts, Anderson Brooks and Sylvester Sipp.

Eddie Faulkner, 67, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died Dec. 30, 2007 at his home. He was a retired truck driver.

He leaves a daughter, Brenda Faulkner of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Kenneth Faulkner and Sean Eason, both of Red Banks; six sisters, Clestine Faulkner, Moristine Vaughn, both of Holly Springs, Minnie Harris, Magnolia Smith, both of Chicago, Ill., Vaulia Mae Jeffries of Aurora, Ill., Ellen Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Frank Faulkner Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Fred Allen Vance, 56, of New Albany, died Dec. 27, 2007 at his home. He was a retired laborer with Watkins Sheppard Furniture Company.

He leaves a daughter, Sharon Judon of Peoria, Ill.; three sons, Fredrick Dowdy, Sanchtez Jackson, Corey Jackson, all of Holly Springs; three sisters, Pattie Taylor, Theodia Vance, both of New Albany, Beulah Harris of Hickory Flat; two brothers, Charles Massey of Hickory Flat, Billy Massey of Jacksonville, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
