Larry W. Kirk, 54, of Olive Branch, died April 2, 2010 at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven. He was a drywall contractor.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 7 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Memorial Park, Southwoods.
He leaves his parents, Joe Ed and Mary Elizabeth Kirk of Olive Branch; a son, Drew Alexander Kirk of Olive Branch; a brother, Joe Ed Kirk Jr. of Olive Branch; and four sisters, Rebecca Lynn Gray of Selmer, Tenn., Kay Curtis, Lisa Hanks, Teresa Kirk, all of Olive Branch.
Modena Elliott Malone
Modena Elliott Malone, 89, of Holly Springs, died April 1, 2010 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of Nathan Malone. She was a member of Mt. Gilead CME Church, a church usher, a member of the church board of trustees, a church missionary, member of Order of Eastern Star and a retired cook with Holly Springs School District.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on April 10 at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Mt. Gilead CME Church Cemetery. Rev. Charles Richmond officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves five children, Dorothy McKinney of Aurora, Ill., Segretta Sims, Chris Malone, both of Holly Springs, James Malone, William (Pete) Malone, both of Holly Springs, two sisters, Dallas LeSure, Zenora Marion, both of Holly Springs; 25 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four children, Johnny (Hill) Malone, Dollie Ann LeSure, Kenneth Malone, Mary Jeffries.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were her nephews.
Johnny Albert McKinney
Johnny Albert McKinney, 60, of Byhalia, died March 31, 2010 at Delta Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was a retired self-employed truck driver.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on April 7 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. S.A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves five sisters, Christine Lyons, Mary R. Campbell, Janie Dowdy, all of Holly Springs, Betty Brunson of Collierville, Tenn., Vickie Cole of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven brothers, T.S. Nunnally, John Lee Nunnally, both of Holly Springs, Billy Nunnally, Jessie Nunnally, Mark Nunnally, all of Byhalia, Joseph McKinney of Philadelphia, Penn., Willie Louis Nunnally of Sacramento, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Susie Isom.
Classie Lee Mosley
Classie Lee Mosley, 65, of Senatobia, died March 30, 2010 at Baptist Desoto Hospital. She was a factory worker.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on April 3 at Wyattes Community Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Jennifer Mosley of Chulahoma, Doris Porter of Senatobia, Joyce Dowdy of Byhalia; three sons, James Mosley Jr., Willie Mosley, both of Senatobia, Dewayne Mosley of Byhalia; a brother, Loyce Brooks of Independence; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deborah Fay Sanders
Deborah Fay Sanders, 58, of Byhalia, died March 31, 2010 at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Burial was in Chapel Cemetery in Pope. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, Marjorie White of Byhalia; two sons, Jesse Sanders of Byhalia, Shane Sanders of Naples, Fla.; two brothers, Richard White, Ronald White, both of Byhalia; a sister, Barbara Baker of Byhalia; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sabrina Sanders; and a sister, Jonell Moody.
Johnnie Stevenson Jr.
Johnnie (Dick) Stevenson Jr., 62, of Mt. Pleasant, died March 25, 2010 at his home. He was a retired fork lift driver with Pepsi Cola of Collierville, Tenn.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 3 at Mt. Newell MB Church in Red Banks, where he was a member. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Ruth Norfleet Stevenson; four daughters, Vickie Norfleet, Nikkia Stevenson, both of Mt. Pleasant, Veronda Walker, Brenda Jones, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Clinton Norfleet, Eric Stevenson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Gladys Brown of Holly Springs, Helen Norman of Aurora, Ill.; a brother, Columbus Hale of Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kevin Brown, Desmond Walker, Marcus Liggins, Demarcus Newell, Clay Moore, Adrian Walker, Dewan Malone and Fred Moore.
Minnie Mae Jones White
Minnie Mae Jones White, 62, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died March 31, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of True Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn.; and a line worker for Piccadilly Restaurant at Whitehaven Plaza in Memphis, Tenn. for more than 42 years.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on April 6 at Mt. Moriah MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dr. R.J. Wilson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Cory White of Cordova, Tenn.; a sister, Ruby Jones of Byhalia; eight brothers, Douglas Jones, Uester Jones, Eddie Lee Jones, all of Holly Springs, Emmit Jones of Byhalia, Percy L. Jones of Atlanta, Ga., Joe Jones, Almus Jones, both of Chicago, Ill., James Jones of Gary, Ind.; and a granddaughter.
Donald Hugh Allmond
Donald Hugh Allmond, 76, of Forrest City, Ark., died May 18, 2010 at his home. He was a retired parts specialist for NAPA, a member of the Forrest City National Guard, and he attended the Oak Hill Church of God.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Virginia Louise Charles Allmond; a son, Wade Allmond of Forrest City, Ark.; a daughter, Carol Daniels of Forrest City, Ark.; a stepson, Bobby Cleaver of Clinton, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Mary Dillard of Holly Springs; a brother, W.C. Allmond of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 22 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, Forrest City, Ark. Burial was in Forrest Park Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren.
Linda Faye Bowen
Linda Faye Bowen, 52, of Holly Springs, died May 15, 2010 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Powell Chapel MB Church and a domestic worker in private homes.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 20 at Finley Grove MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder Actavatis Allen officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, Berneice K. Bowen of Holly Springs; her father, Coleman Bowen of Memphis, Tenn.; eight sisters, Sandra Bowen, Joyce Bell, Sedella Reliford, Shirley Bowen, Delories Taylor, all of Holly Springs, Sara Reliford, Elizabeth Bowen, Sandra Bowen, all of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven brothers, David Bowen, Dempsey Bowen, Mack Bowen, all of Holly Springs, Bryan Bowen, Alonzo Farrow, Randy Bowen, Coleman Bowen Jr., all of Memphis, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Bowen.
Pallbearers were Willie Reliford, Terry Reliford, Lee Reliford Antonio Bowen, Octavis Bowen and Courtney Bowen. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Ayers, Travis Reliford, James Bell Jr., Jamarcus Zinn, Jaumaurice Zinn and Gary Turner.
