Kimberly Williams
Kimberly (Kim) Williams, 30, of Michigan City, died Jan. 1, 2008 at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis. She was a State of Tennessee correctional officer at Whiteville State Prison.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 5 at Mt. Bethel MB Church in Michigan City, where she was a member. Burial was in Mt. Bethel Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, Elma Williams of Michigan City; two sisters, Stephaine Williams, Jessica Williams, both of Michigan City; and her brother, Clinton Cheairs of Grand Junction, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jessie Cheairs.
Maelena Waller Aldridge
Maelena Waller Aldridge, 65, of Holly Springs, died April 20, 2008 at her home in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Edgar Aldridge Jr. She was a member of Hopewell No. 1 MB Church.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on April 26 at Rust College Doxey Auditorium. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Shirley Sims, Varrie Aldridge, Kim Aldridge, all of Holly Springs; four sons, Tracy Aldridge of Bossier City, La., Curtis Aldridge, Willie Aldridge, Ronnie Aldridge, all of Holly Springs; her mother, Clara Rucker Waller of Holly Springs; five sisters, Fannie Lyles, Brenda Waller, Tina Zinn, Nicole Washington, Erika Washington, all of Holly Springs; six brothers, Ralph Waller, Donald Waller, both of Holly Springs, Clinton Waller, Larry Waller, both of Aurora, Ill., Elbert Waller of Atlanta, Ga., Mike Waller of Las Vegas, Nev.; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Shelia Waller, Jessie Turnage, Barbara Washington, Fred Waller, Mark Waller and Hubert Waller.
Pallbearers were Carl Aldridge Sr., Carl Aldridge Jr., Freeman Faulkner, Greg Rounds, Duwan Balfour, Joe Dowdy and Elton Pegues. Honorary pallbearers were sons and brothers.
Elizabeth Johnston Beard
Elizabeth Johnston Beard, 88, of Olive Branch, died April 25, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Maples Memorial United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on April 28 at Hill Crest Cemetery. Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her children, Tommy Lafever of Rome, Ga., Betty Hollowell of Olive Branch; a brother, Dr. Joseph E. Johnston of Mt. Olive; a sister, Sue Thames of Biloxi; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial gifts may be made to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church.
Aliyah Evans
Aliyah Evans, infant, died April 19, 2008 at Baptist Women’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Graveside services were held at 12 noon on April 25 at Reid’s Gift MB Church Cemetery in Potts Camp. Sis. Bessie Tables officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, TaQuita Evans of Memphis, Tenn.; her father, Mark Howard of Como; and grandparents, Sherry Evans, Lee Evans, both of Potts Camp, Yvetta Howard of Memphis, Tenn., Marice Partee of Sardis.
Elster Lee Austin Jones
Elster Lee Austin Jones, 79, of Holly Springs, died April 22, 2008 at her home. She was the widow of Isaac Jones Sr. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Home Improvement Society, church usher board and church mother’s board.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on April 27 at New Hope MB Church in Laws Hill, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Earnest Jones officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves five daughters, Sarah Jones, Daisy Walker, both of Aurora, Ill., Delois Franklin, Shirley Ann Jones, both of Memphis, Tenn., Catherine Pegues of Oxford; four sons, Isaac Jones Jr., Willie E. Jones, Lonnie Jones, all of Holly Springs, Calvin Jones of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Rannie Nunnally of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Edward Austin of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, May Lois Jones; and a son, Leon Grimes.
Pallbearers were Rory Spears, Michael Faulkner, Ifanee Jones, Dewayne Jones, Anthony Prior and Antwone Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers were Isaac Jones Jr., Willie Jones, Lonnie Jones, Calvin Jones, Arnold Pegues and Rodgerick Walker.
Reva Louise Perkins
Reva Louise Perkins, 83, of Hickory Flat, died April 22, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of John T. Perkins. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on April 23 at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a brother-in-law, William W. Perkins; a sister-in-law, Mary Joyce Nance; cousin, Lavelle McCreary; caregiver, Staci Boone; niece, Mary Harrington; and four nephews, Larry Nance, Billy Nance, William Perkins and Ralph Perkins.
Romni Jatel Shaw
Romni Jatel Shaw, 25, of Holly Springs, died April 21 at her home. She was a laborer with Williams/Sonoma in Olive Branch.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on April 26 at Smith Grove MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Darrell Pettis officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two daughters, Ta’Shana Shaw, Ta’Shaya Shaw, both of Holly Springs; her mother and father, Joyce Shaw of Holly Springs, Rodney Jeffries of Holly Springs; stepmothers, Gwen Jeffries, Cynthia Jeffries, both of Holly Springs; grandmothers, Pearline Shaw, Freddie Jeffries, both of Holly Springs; two sisters, Daphne Jeffries, Ashley Kirkwood, both of Holly Springs; and three brothers, Recardo Jeffries, Renoldo Jeffries, Landon Carter, all of Holly Springs.

Edward Leon Smiley
Edward Leon Smiley, 52, of Olive Branch, died April 25, 2008. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on April 29 at Forest Hill South Chapel, followed by a military interment.
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Sheri Billings Smiley; a son, Matt Smiley; daughter, Paige Smiley Richardson; stepmother, Shirley Smiley Potts; three sisters, Jo Todd, Judy Brown, Colleen Baker; four brothers, Julian Smiley, John Smiley; Shannon Smiley; Gene Smiley; and two grandchildren.
