Mosegi Kenta (Mo) Wheeler, 26, of Byhalia, died August 4, 2005 at his home. He attended Byhalia High and Henry Jr. High Schools.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Isaac Chapel CME Church in Byhalia. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery in Byhalia. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his parents, Avan and Jimmie Wheeler, two children, Xavier Wheeler, Joslyn Benson, three brothers, Joe Brunson, Brian Wheeler, Nico Wheeler; two sisters, Vickie Clark, Jetonne Wheeler, his grandfather, Crell Wheller and a special friend, Quatzetta Echols, all of Byhalia.
Pallbearers will be Joe Brunson, Brian Wheeler, Nico Wheeler, Cleven Clark, Cedric Richmond, Michael Todd, Henry Louis Saulsberry and Dwight Wheeler.
Dorothy Ruth Crump
Dorothy Ruth Crumb, 68, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 6, 2009 at Baptist Hospital-Desoto in Southaven. She was disabled and a teacher’s aide with Holly Springs Public Schools.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Father Leonard Elder officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Eric Lamar Crumb Sr. of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Joe William Sr. of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by siblings Shepard Crumb, Ruben Crumb, Charles Edward Crumb and Betty Jean Brown.
Pallbearers were Anthony Crumb, Fred Crumb, Agrippa Bryson, Wendell Brown, Donell Crumb, Rudy Whitelow and Danny Crumb. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Crumb, Joe W. Crumb, Deonta Whitmore, Bobby Crumb, Lonnie Beard and Deitrick Brown.
Martha Johnson
Martha (Marty) Johnson, 59, of Waterford, died Oct. 7, 2009 at her home. She was born in Hernando.
Services will be held at 12 noon on Oct. 18 at Bayou Point in Arkabutla.
She leaves her daughter, Marilyn DeAnn Johnson of Eads, Tenn.; her son, Robert Douglas Johnson of Waterford; sisters, Nancy Emerson of Waterford, Mary Ann Marshall of Waterford, Diane Millwood of Conway, Ark.; brothers, Gerald Jones of Waterford, Mike Jones of Southaven; and two grandsons.
Charlene Greer Jones
Charlene Greer Jones, 99, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 4, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of Castleberry Jones and a former church usher.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 9 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Gerald Thompson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by siblings Ellie B. Washington, Effie Norwood, Mary Vaughn, Lee Van Greer, Robert Greer and Fate Greer.
Pallbearers were great-nephews. Honorary pallbearers were great-great-nephews.
James Oscar Norwood
James Oscar Norwood, 68, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 2, 2009 at his home. He was a member of the church choir and male chorus, and a retired truck driver with Waste Management.
Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 10 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Gerald Thompson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Pearlie Jean Reaves Norwood; four daughters, Mary A. Norwood of Ashland, Alison Reaves, LaKiesha R. Reaves, Vanessa Williams of Holly Springs; four sons, James Ivory Norwood Jr., Shawtel C. Reaves, both of Ashland, Timothy Lamont Reaves of Memphis, Tenn., Roosevelt Reaves Jr. of Hudsonville; two sisters, Annie Ruth Scruggs of Lamar, Elzina Hayes of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, Rev. Leroy Harris, David Norwood, both of Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild, and a brother, Alonzo Harris.
Pallbearers were Sam Evans, Terry Moore, Terrance Walls and Kevin Washington. Honorary pallbearers were Roosevelt Reaves Jr., Timothy L. Reaves, James Norwood Jr., Alex Williams, Tavares Reaves, Charles Berry and Eugene Brown.
Maxine Potts
Maxine Phillips Potts, 76, of Saltillo, died Oct. 6, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of Louis Potts. She graduated from Macedonia High School in 1951. After retirement, she and her husband resided in Potts Camp. She was a member of Potts Camp Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 9 at United Funeral Home in New Albany. Bro. Jim Buchanan officiated. Burial was in Vista Memorial Park.
She leaves two daughters, Cindy Harville, Candy Potts, both of Saltillo; two sisters, Carolyn Conklin of Bartlett, Tenn., Patricia Wren of Cordova, Tenn.; a brother, Robert Phillips of Oxford; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her identical twin sister Christine Phillips Watts; and a brother, Shirley Phillips Jr.
Pallbearers were Warren Ray, Bobby Ray, Bo Seago, Bo Brock, Ronnie Joe Bennett and Don Jamison.
Dorothy Weeks Seale
Dorothy Weeks Seale, 70, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 9, 2009 at Christopher’s Personal Care Home. She was a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a bachelor of arts degree in education. She also did extensive work towards a master’s degree in supervision and administration. She was a longtime member of the local DAR chapter and a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 12 at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Dr. Curtis Ferrell officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Dee and Larry Whisenant of Holly Springs; a son, Bob and Michelle Seale of Hernando; two brothers, Charles Weeks of Fountain Valley, Calif., Bill Weeks of Alhambra, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Abby Seale, John Bradford Whisenant, William Whisenant.
Pallbearers were Larry Whisenant Jr., Bobby Clanton, Mike Thompson, Dale Jackson, Shawn Clayton and Ed Holland.
Johnnie Podres Faulkner
Johnnie Podres Faulkner, 53, of Holly Springs, died June 9, 2009 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was a member of Hopewell No. 1 MB Church and a self-employed roofer.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on June 13 at Free Branch MB Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in Bowens Cemetery. Rev. Willie Hoey officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three children, Natosha Brown, Tyheria Brown and Tyre Brown, all of Holly Springs; his mother, Ella Bell Malone of Holly Springs; two sisters, Cassandra Faulkner, Letha Faulkner, both of Holly Springs; three brothers, Anthony Faulkner, Glen Faulkner, and Gary Faulkner, all of Holly Springs; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Albert Bowens, Breggie Gilkey, Carl Burns, Otis Brown, Frederick Brown and Andre’ Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Faulkner, Marion Faulkner, Tyre Brown, Glynn Faulkner, Gary Faulkner.
