Lawrence E. Brooks Jr., 25, of Senatobia, died Jan. 12, 2008 at Sparks Regional Medical Center, Ft. Smith, Ark. He was disabled.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 19 at Wyatte Community Church in Senatobia. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Paulette Brooks; five sisters, Kimberly Brooks of Memphis, Tenn., Tiffany Brooks of Jackson, Brenda Blackmond of Holly Springs, Latoya Brooks of Memphis, Tenn., Lisa Ann Sanders of Chicago, Ill.; and five brothers, Troy Sanders of Chicago, Ill., Marvin Sanders, Alonzo Sanders, both of Holly Springs, Cordell Brooks, Demetruis Blackmond, both of Memphis, Tenn.
Mose Lee Hale
Mose Lee Hale, 68, of Red Banks, died Jan. 13, 2008 at his home in Red Banks. He was disabled.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 19 at Mt. Zion Taska MB Church, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Keith Pendilton officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two sisters, Clara Hale of Red Banks, Evelyn Robinson of Memphis, Tenn.
Pallbearers were Willie Lee Hughes, Tederick (Boo) Wells, Cedric Bady, Marcus (M.D.) Moffitt, Robert Bady and Robert Earl Glass. Honorary pallbearers were Ernest L. Moffitt, George Moffitt, Joe Lee Kinkle, Arthur J. Martin, Neallay Durcell and Leon Linsey.
Lucille Johnson
Lucille Jenkins Johnson, 75, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Holly Springs, died Dec. 28, 2007. She was a former member of Pleasant Grove MB Church. She later moved to Detroit, Mich. A member of Mt. Zion MB Church in Detroit for more than 40 years, she attended Sunday school and was a member of the Women’s Ministry since its inception. She was a supervisor for the young adult choir for over 20 years. She continued her involvement of the youth at Mt. Zion by working with the Girl Scouts and was a supporter of the S.L. Jones After School Program. In addition, she worked on countless pastoral, Women’s Day and church anniversary committees. Her works also earned her the distinction of being honored as Missionary of the Year in 1990 at Cobo Hall. She spent more than 30 years in the health care industry, serving as a home health aide.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 5 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Detroit, Mich. Burial was in Trinity Cemetery. James H. Cole Home for Funeral was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Roy; daughters, Mary L. James, Diane Johnson; her sons, Wilbert Jenkins Jr., Ronald and Lenny Johnson; special sisters, Clara McGee, Renee Printup; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Jenkins.
Pallbearers were Eddie Williams, Shawn Chaney, Troy Coleman, Kenneth Jenkins, Ronnie Thornhill and Terrance Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Wilbert Jenkins Jr., Evege James III, Ronald Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Leonard Johnson, Wilbert Jenkins III and Evege James Jr.
Neomia Taylor Johnson
Neomia Taylor Johnson, 92, of Holly Springs, formerly of Tampa, Fla., died Jan. 13, 2008 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. She was the widow of Ivory Johnson. She was a member of Finley Grove MB Church, a member of the Eastern Star, a former member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Tampa and a retired domestic worker.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 19 at Anderson Chapel CME Church. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. James Green officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Carlos Martin, William D. McFadden, Eugene Taylor, Marck Scales, Derrick Martin and John Woods. Honorary pallbearers were James Anderson, George Scales, Dan Taylor III, Eugene Anderson, Willie McFadden and Jake Taylor II.
Jarvis L. Kimmons
Jarvis L. (Jabo) Kimmons, 45, of Ashland, formerly of Holly Springs, died Jan. 16, 2008 at Briarcrest Extended Care Home in Ashland. He was a disabled laborer with Mississippi Forestry Service.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 22 at Finley Grove MB Church. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. James Green officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three sons, Robert Kimmons, Willie Tom Kimmons, both of Aurora, Ill., Charles Kimmons of Holly Springs and three sisters, Bertha Lawrence, Verlin Kimmons, Alice Kimmons, all of Holly Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Verlee Kimmons and Clara Mae Freeman Kimmons; and a brother, Roy Lee Kimmons.
Pallbearers were Cedrick Kimmons, Lemarcus Kimmons, Zachary Cornelious, Kalmerun Kimmons and Albert Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers were Percy Freeman, Mack D. Bowen, James Freeman, Samuel Turnage and Demetrius Cornelious.
Cecil Marion
Cecil Marion, 52, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 15, 2008 at Baptist North MS Hospital in Oxford. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and he was disabled.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 19 at Hudsonville CME Church, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Bobby Wilson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Clara Bowens; two daughters, Crissandra Marion of Nashville, Arielle Marion of Holly Springs; four sons, Chaddrick Marion, Cecil Marion Jr., Tetrius Bowens, all of Holly Springs, Chuancey Marion of Bowie, Md.; his mother, Dallas Marion of Holly Springs; five sisters, Asie Scales of Chicago, Ill., Earnestine Marion, Geraldine Glover, Rosetta Lumpkins, Korene Marion, all of Holly Springs; two brothers, Robert McKinney, Clifford Marion, both of Holly Springs and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dederick Faulkner, Charles Glover, Gaston Glover, Marcus Marion, Theric Marion, David Glover, Derrick Brown, Thaddeus Marion, Bill Jones Jr. and Ashley Scales. Honorary pallbearers were Tetrius Bowen, Chuancey Marion, Chaddrick Marion and Cecil Marion Jr.
Albert Franklin Massengill
Albert Franklin Massengill, 68, of Hickory Flat, died Jan. 15, 2008 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a Baptist and employed with Fruehauf Trailers.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 17 at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Randy Buse officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Frances Massengill; two sons, Scott Massengill, Jeremy Massengill, both of Hickory Flat; a brother, Ollice Massengill of Hickory Flat; a sister, Lottie Pearl James of Germantown; and a grandchild.
Pallbearers were Allen Massengill, Mark Massengill, Michael Massengill, Ollice Massengill Jr., Gary Pyle Moffitt, James Smith, Charlie Legget and Wade Janes. Honorary pallbearers were Dudley Massengill, Norman Thompson, Tim Smith and Clint Moffit.

Ernestine Caldwell Murphy, 75, of Byhalia, died Jan. 20, 2008.
