Derek Glenn Brunson

Derek Glenn Brunson, 42, of Byhalia, died August 16, 2008 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Services were held at 12 noon on August 23 at Issac Chapel CME Church in Byhalia, where he was a member. Burial was in Clayton Cemetery. Rev. Willie Ward officiated. Serenity Funeral Home of Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his father, George Davis of Byhalia; five sisters, Dorothy Chester of Buffalo, N.Y., Jimmie Wheeler, Janet Brunson, Barbara Brunson, all of Byhalia, Alma Brunson of Olive Branch; and three brothers, Roy Brunson, Maurice Davis and Clarence Davis, all of Byhalia.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elma Brunson; two brothers, Willie B. Brunson and Patrick Brunson and a nephew, Mosegi Wheeler.

Hugh R. McClatchy

Hugh R. McClatchy, 76, of Olive Branch, formerly of Red Banks, died Aug. 11, 2008 at his home. He was a member of Red Banks United Methodist Church and a farmer.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Red Banks Cemetery. Rev. Anita Lawson and Rev. Don Wilson officiated.

He leaves his wife, Ann Stone McClatchy; two sons, Walter McClatchy of Brookings, Oregon, Dr. Billy McClatchy of Southaven; a daughter, Pam McClatchy of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister Sarah Thomas Lilly of Beaumont, Tx.; and six grandchildren.

Joshua David Pryor

Joshua David Pryor died Aug. 13, 2008 in Orlando, Fla. He was a graduate of DeSoto Central High School in Southaven, Class of 2006. He later joined the United States Army National Guard. He did his boot camp in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., his AIT in Ft. Jackson, S.C. and was presently stationed in Orlando, Fla. with the 53rd Battalion F Co., where he was also attending MIT School of Motorcycle.

Services were held at 2 pm. on Aug. 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery.

He leaves his father and stepmother, Robert Wade Pryor and Teresa June Pryor of Southaven; his mother, Lisa Carol Hohlt of Victoria; a brother James William (Billy) Pryor of Oxford; his grandmother and grandfather, Joann and Marvil (Poppy) St. John of Victoria and his stepgrandparents, Johnnie and JoAnn Fine of Olive Branch.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lauren and Marie Pryor, of Holly Springs.

Alene McCallum Randolph

Alene McCallum Randolph, 89, died Aug. 13, 2008 at Alliance HealthCare Systems. She was the widow of Hurdle R. Randolph, a member of Potts Camp Church of Christ and a clerk with Tyson Drug Store.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Butler Cemetery in Potts Camp. Rev. Ray Kennedy officiated.

She leaves two sons, Kenneth Randolph, of Brownsville, Tenn., Don Taylor Randolph of Holly Springs; three brothers, Jack McCallum of Hickory Flat, Lynn McCallum, Joe McCallum, both of Potts Camp; two sisters, Dorothy Forester of Potts Camp, Twilla Rutherfod of Blue Mountain; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ken Randolph, Don Randolph, Deron Randolph, Patrick Courson, Justin Rowel, Todd Randolph, Blake Randolph, Chad Randolph and Ralph Shaw.

Mal David Rogers

Mal David Rogers, 86, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Abbeville, died August 5, 2008 in Baylor Medical Center at Garland, Tx. Born in Myrtle, his parents and grandparents are buried in Waterford. The family farm (known as Spraggins farm) is on Hwy. 7 near Waterford. A decorated World War II veteran, he was a chemical and nuclear engineer, and retired from Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. During World War II, he flew seven very dangerous missions to Polesti Oil Fields out of 50 total misisons he flew. In 1995, he was invited to join the New York Academy of Sciences.

Services were held on August 8 at Restland Funeral Home’s Abbey Chapel. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park.

He leaves four daughters, Sharon Rogers of Dallas, Caroline Hooks of Sachse, Texas, Debbie Edlin of Dallas, Ariana Rogers of Garland; a son, David Rogers of Rockwall, Texas; a brother, W.J. (Billy) Rogers of Lexington, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Roy L. Sanderson

Roy L. Sanderson, 63, of Kansas City, Kansas, formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug. 10, 2008. He was educated in Holly Springs. He worked in construction, building bridges. He was a member of the Local 1290 and retired out of Local 663, after 33 years of service. He attended the Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 16, 2008 at Greater Pentecostal Temple. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Bishop Marvin E. Donaldson officiated. Thatcher Mortuary, Kansas City, Kan., was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, TaJuana Sanderson; his mother, Colia Sanderson of Mississippi; three sons, Darryl Sanderson, Derrick Sanderson, Roy Jr.; a stepson, Edward Kersey of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Robert Sanderson, Charles Sanderson Jr. of Mississippi; six sisters, Mary Pool, Annie Harris of Chicago, Lorene Richmond, Shirley Sanderson of Kansas City, Beulah Hamilton, Ruthie Johnson of Mississippi; a grandson, and a stepgranddaughter.

Pallbearers were Edward Kersey, Nathan Duckworth, Mark Johnson, Lee Alexander, Emerson Hamilton and Walter Weather. Honorary pallbearers were Lanell Thomas, George Tease, Jacob Handy, Keith Williams and Turner Allen.

Leslie Paul Zarnstorff

Leslie Paul Zarnstorff, 86, of Ashland, died August 16, 2008. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Graveside services were held at Liberty Methodist Cemetery on August 18 at 11 a.m. Bro. William Kemp officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Louise Zarnstorff; two daughters, Linda Davis of Ashland, Carol Reynolds of Brandon; a brother, Carl Zarnstorff of Wisconsin; a sister, Cora Marshall of Wisconsin; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dan Zarnstorff.

Tommy Earl Davis

Tommy Earl Davis, 67, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 28, 2010, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a store owner and a member of Bluff Road Church of Christ in Arkabutla.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Carter Park in Senatobia. Burial was in Carter Sunset Memorial. Felix Cauthern Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a daughter, Terra Davis of Senatobia; four sons, Willie (Lewis) Davis of Byhalia, Brian Davis of Coldwater, Bertram Davis of Holly Springs, Boris Davis of Memphis, Tenn.; six sisters, Doris Smith, Gwendolyn Bynum, Alena Little, all of Memphis, Tenn., Jurley Watson of Atlanta, Ga., Sarah Towns of Detroit, Mich., Teresa Hibbler of Madison, Ala.; and five brothers, Timothy Davis, Glyn Moore, both of Senatobia, Orlando Davis, Keith Davis, Carlton Davis, all of Memphis, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a special friend, Beverly Davis.
