Annie Jane Seals, 86, of Somerville, Tenn., died May 17, 2010 at NHC Somerville Healthcare. She was the widow of Refus Seals and a Methodist.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 19 at Rice Chapel Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Boyce Wilson officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Raymond Seals of Somerville, Tenn.; six brothers, William Hailey of Marian, Ark., Lester Hailey of La Grange, Tenn., Howard Hailey of Holly Springs, James Hailey of Pope, Ray Hailey of New Orleans, La., Sammy Hailey of Florance; six sisters, Elsie Holloway of Sunflower, Catherine Linn of Brandon, Sue Johnson of Sardis; Mamie Miller, Mary Hunsucker, both of Holly Springs, Nita Stewart of Indianola; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
James Russell Taylor
James Russell Taylor, 79, of Holly Springs, died May 23, 2010 at his home. He was the widower of Penny Crittendon Taylor, a Baptist and an auto body worker with Memphis Equipment.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Temperance Hill Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Wilbanks officiated.
He leaves four sons, Russell Lynn Taylor of Sardis, James Ricky Taylor of Hickory Flat, John Edward Davis of Hernando, Michael Davis of Myrtle; two daughters, Teresa Taylor Lesure and Tammy Taylor, both of Holly Springs; three sisters, Ruby Carter of Holly Springs, Minnie Lindsey of Potts Camp, Warene Cozart of New Albany; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Dale Taylor.
Cora Tinnin
Cora Tinnin, 65, of Holly Springs, died May 17, 2010 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto. She was the owner of Tinnin Electric.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 22 at West Antioch #1 MB Church in Senatobia, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Bell officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. in Batesville was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Douglas Tinnin Jr.; a son, Demtetrius Tinnin of Holly Springs; a stepdaughter, Holly Tinnin of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepson, Douglas Tinnin of Holly Springs; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Christian, LuCrease Garner, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Ephron Robinson of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and five step-grandchildren.
Robert J. Waldrop
Robert J. Waldrop, 67, of Holly Springs, died May 16, 2010 at his home. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Shady Grove MB Church in New Albany. He was a retired shipping clerk at Universal Forest Company in Auburndale, Fla., and later at Ashley Furniture Factory in New Albany.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 21 at Palestine MB Church in Blue Mountain. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Carlos Graham officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Patricia Waldrop; a son, Robert Love of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Yolanda McKinney of Auburndale, Fla., Angela McKinney of Holly Springs; a brother, Jerry Waldrop of Myrtle; two sisters, Lorene Smith of New Albany, Earlene Simmons of Pontotoc; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Reed.
Pallbearers were George Anderson, Jimmy Cannon, James King, James Bowen, Curtis King and Charles Terry Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Alex Lozano, Clarence Smith, Brandon McKinney and Corey Smith.
Elizabeth Wayne Wilson Ash
Elizabeth “Bettie” Wayne Wilson Ash, 69, of Potts Camp, died June 27, 2010 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. A former chief clerk and auditor for the Marshall County Chancery Clerk’s office, she began working for J.M. “Flick” Ash in 1965. She also worked for Ash in the sheriff’s office. A realtor and broker for Flick’s Realty since 1977, she was currently the manager of Flick’s Country Restaurant.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 30 at the Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Potts Camp, where she was a member. Bishop Steve Wilson, Bro. Chuck Fowler and Pastor Jon Vazquez will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home in Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, J.M. “Flick” Ash; two stepdaughters, Ludis Reeves of Olive Branch, Liesa Weaver of Petal; a stepson, Jesse Ash Jr. of Potts Camp; four sisters, Joanna Murphy of Potts Camp, Frankie Bishop of New Albany, Becky Goldman of Colbert, Ga., Martha Carson of Lafayette, Ind.; five brothers, Rev. John Wilson of Nashville, Tenn., Bishop Steve Wilson, Sam Wilson, both of Potts Camp, Rev. J. Michael Wilson of Parsons, Tenn. and Tim Wilson of Potts Camp; 21 nieces and nephews; 32 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Frank and Lillian Wilson; a stepdaughter, Donna Ruth Watts, a nephew, Patrick Wilson, and a great-niece, Brittany Bishop.

James Donald Muse Sr.
James Donald Muse Sr., 69, of Bartlett, Tenn., died June 23, 2010 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was Pentecostal and a truck driver.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in The Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Montgomery and Bro. David Mosley officiated.
He leaves a son, James D. Muse Jr. of Greenbrier, Ark.; two daughters, Karla Habben of Bartlett, Tenn., Melony Henshaw of Greenbrier, Ark.; two brothers, Billy Muse, Kenneth Muse, both of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Virginia Ash of Wharton, Texas, Mary Mannon of Potts Camp, Glenda Isner of Atoka, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
Carol Jean Hampton Scruggs
Carol Jean Hampton Scruggs, 48, of Victoria, died June 25, 2010, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Sand Hill MB Church in Lamar, a member and vice president of the church choir, member of Women In Law Enforcement Association, member of National Sheriff’s Association, deputy sheriff of Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. She was in law enforcement for 15 years.
Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home, 125 Memphis Street, Holly Springs, from 1-7 p.m. on June 30. The family will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10-10:55 a.m. on July 1, at Rust College. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 1 at W.A. McMillan Multipurpose Center, Rust College in Holly Springs. Rev. Etoy Bogard will officiate. Burial will be in Sand Hill MB Church Cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
She leaves four children, Yashica Scruggs of Holly Springs, Charlotte Scruggs, Charlie Scruggs, Billy Scruggs, all of Victoria; her father, Odell Hampton of Lamar; her mother, Katie Mitchell Hampton of Lamar; fiance’, Dwight Thomas of Victoria; eight sisters, Gloria Hubbard, Mae Frost, Barbara Wicks, Linda Jones, Shondra Hampton, Katie Kilpatrick all of Holly Springs, Janet Luellen of Slayden, Audrey McShan of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two brothers, Ozell Hampton of Byhalia, Shone Hampton of Lamar; and two grandchildren.
Danny Joe Smith
Danny Joe Smith, 58, of Hickory Flat, died June 26, 2010 at Alliance HealthCare System. He was Pentecostal and a Benton County sheriff’s deputy.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 29 at Hickory Flat High School gymnasium. Burial was in McKay Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Hope Burton Smith; a son, Danny Joe Smith Jr. of Hickory Flat; four daughters, Brenda Briscoe of Hickory Flat, Angela Ford of Cornersville, Kim Randal of Red Banks, Liz Dennis of Waterford; five sisters, Wanda McKnight of Tupelo, Joann Nanny of Fulton, Junie Hunter of Hickory Flat, Debbie Peters of Collierville, Tenn., Linda Lowry of Hickory Flat; five brothers, Leroy Stanton of Hickory Flat, Allen Stanton of Ripley, Howard Stanton of Hickory Flat, Frank Peters of Ashland, Doyle Peters of Collierville, Tenn., Michael Stanton of Holly Springs; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Benton Co. Sheriff’s deputies. Honorary pallbearers were Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department.
