She leaves her husband, Tommy Clayton; her father, Don Rodgers of Plano, Ill.; her mother, Sadie Rogers of New Albany; her son, Jonathan Clayton of New Albany; two daughters, Wendy Sanders of Ingomar, Felicia Fincher of Hickory Flat; two brothers, Donald Joe Rogers of Pontotoc, Rodney Rogers of Ecru; her sister, Cynthia Ann Lawrence of Aurora, Ill.; and thee grandchildren.
Madalyn Jalee Coopwood
Madalyn Jalee Coopwood, 30 days old, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 21, 2009 at her home.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 24 at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Scott Broughton officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother and father, John Carlton Coopwood, April Dawn Davis of Holly Springs; two brothers, Christian Coopwood, Rylan Coopwood, both of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents, Sandy Horvath of Yasnee, Fla., Kay Brackeen of Memphis, Tenn., Lloyd and Julie Davis of Savannah, Tenn.; great-grandparents John Horvath of Memphis, Tenn., Shirley Coopwood of Mt. Pleasant, Leroy and Doris Kellen of Counce, Tenn., Lloyd and Lela Davis Sr. of Savannah, Tenn.; and great-great-grandmother, Mildred McCarron of Memphis, Tenn.
Malcolm Rex Culver
Malcolm Rex Culver, 58, of the Cayce community near Byhalia, formerly of Fayette County, died Sept. 30, 2009 at his home. He was a truck owner and operator. A former Somerville resident, he received his education in the Fayette County Public School System. He later relocated to the Cayce Community near Byhalia. He was a member of the Macon United Methodist Church.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 3 at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Burial was in Macon Cemetery at Macon, Tenn. Rev. Wayne Craig of Warren Community Church officiated.
He leaves his companion, Karen Taylor of Byhalia; his daughter, Stephanie G. Culver Skelton of Somerville; his don, Kevin D. Culver of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Charlene Glover of Somerville, Juanita Fitzgerald of Walnut, Mary E. Tatum of Somerville; three brothers, Troy Culver of Somerville, Delbert Culver of Millington, Jerry Wayne Culver of Oakland; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Charles Tatum, Donald Tatum, Ronnie Glover, Timothy Fitzgerald, Eddie Fioretti and Keith Cints. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Wayne Culver, Troy Culver, Buddy Tatum and Bobby Cannon.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Macon United Methodist Church, 8740 Highway 193, Oakland, TN 38060; or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
Aurelius Davidson
Aurelius Davidson, 73, of Chicago, Ill., died Oct. 8, 2009. He attended St. Mary of Holly Springs. He worked at the United States Main Post Office, Downtown Chicago, for 34 years in the field of electrical engineering.
Services were held Oct. 17 at St. Kilian Church, Chicago. Pastor father Vanecho officiated.
He leaves his wife, Charlesetta Davidson; four daughters, Audrey Davidson of Chicago, Karen Lynn Davidson of Calumet Park, Ill., Sheryl Davidson of Hammond, Ind. Aurelia Marie Robinson of Chicago, Ill.; daughter, Brenda Walls-Robert of Bolinbrook, Ill; a son, Rodney Steven Davidson of Robbins, Ill.; two sisters, Ella Louise Evans of Chicago, Ill., Ruth Lucille Plummer of Holly Springs; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Gennie Tables Greer
Gennie Tables Greer, 91, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 21, 2009 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of Leroy Greer. She was a retired bus driver with Bishop Byrne School in Memphis, Tenn. and the oldest mother in her church.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Powell Chapel MB Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Eddie Walker officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Gerlena Glover, Bessie Greer, both of Holly Springs, Lela Greer-Tutor of Memphis, Tenn.; five sons, Clarence Glover of Rochester, N.Y., Leroy Greer Jr. of Holly Springs, Willie Greer of Rochester, N.Y., Eddie Greer of Oswego, Ill., John Greer of Holly Springs; a brother, Matthew Simmons of Oxford; 26 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Glover; and a daughter, Dorothy Greer.
Lucille Johnson
Lucille Johnson, 81 of Holly Springs, formerly of Oxford, died Oct. 19, 2009 at Trinity Mission Healthcare. She was the widow of James Johnson and a retired cook.
Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 24 at New Hope Church in Laws Hill. Burial was in Mt. Comfort CME Church in Laws Hill. Rev. Earnest Jones officiated. Hodges-Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, Curtis Howell of Detroit, Mich.; caregivers, nieces Lucathryn Grant, Martha Penilton, Gussie Tallie, Menatha Miller, Annie Moffitt, Delores Dowsing, Brenda Rogers and Grace Jones, all of Holly Springs; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Johnie J. Lyles
Johnie J. (Michael) Lyles, 46, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 17, 2009 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was a disabled laborer with Byhalia Brick and Tile.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 24 at True Vine MB Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in Greenwood MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Darrell Cunningham officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two children, LeKeisha Turner of Memphis, Tenn., Neumonisha Hawkins of Flint, Mich.; his father, Elmo (Coo-Man) Lyles of Holly Springs; nine sisters, Lucille Miles of Memphis, Tenn., Laura Campbell of Flint, Mich., Rochelle Lyles of Holly Springs, Lisa Porter Alexander of Champaign, Ill., Shonney Porter of Holly Springs, Lillian Sigman of Ashland, Sherry Wicks of Atlanta, Ga., LaTonya Coleman of Jonesboro, Ark., Tamil of Memphis, Tenn.; and two brothers, Willie Campbell and Elmore Campbell, both of Holly Springs.
Pallbearers were Caronn Malone, Laverne Brown, Stanley Woodson, Rodriquez Pegues, Jerome Brown and Darnell Crumb. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews.
Millie Boothe Malone
Millie Boothe Malone, 98, of Cordova, Tenn., formerly of Waterford, died Oct. 20, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of Will C. Malone. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah MB Church in Cordova, a member of the mother’s board and Sunday school.
Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 27 at Hamilton Chapel CME Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Basil Brooks officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves six children, Catherine Coleman of Walls, Dannie Johnson of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Osie Russell of Cordova, Tenn., Odie Malone of Memphis, Tenn., Kent Malone of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Will Malone Jr. of Madison, Ind.; a brother, Rev. O.B. Boothe of Memphis, Tenn.; 33 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three children, Maggie Boxley, Nellie Frazier and Wyomina Malone.
