Marvin Delbridge Jr., 57, died Jan. 2, 2012 at his home. He was a member of St. Mark MB Church in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 9.
He leaves a son, Marchello Sellers; his mother, Mattie Galloway Delbridge of Holly Springs; a brother, George Delbridge of Holly Springs; and two sisters, Izonia Delbridge (Winfred), Janice Delbridge (Earnest), both of Holly Springs.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Christopher Armstrong
Christopher Armstrong, 32, of Byhalia, died May 7, 2012, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital. He was a construction worker.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 11 at Coldwater Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Shannon Armstrong of Collierville, Tenn.; two daughters, Makayla Armstrong, Hailey Armstrong, both of Collierville; father and mother, Roger and Mary Armstrong of Barton; a sister, Angela Devore of Mt. Pleasant, grandparents, Cloy and Shirley Armstrong of Barton; and great-grandfather, Earlie Crum of Barton.
Lillie Williams Driver
Lillie Williams Driver, 93, of Holly Springs, died May 8, 2012, at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Andrew Driver. She was a retired domestic worker.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on May 12 at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Denise Anders Modest officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her caregiver, Purvene Anderson of Holly Springs; and two sisters, Anna Love of Holly Springs, Willie M. Owens of Milwaukee, Wisc.
Minnie Mae Edwards
Minnie Mae Edwards, 88, of Red Banks, died May 8, 2012, at her home. She was a member of Carey Chapel. She was retired from Carrier Corp.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 10 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carey Chapel Cemetery.
She leaves her husband, Fred Lee Edwards; a son, Kirby F. Edwards of Red Banks; two daughters, Kathleen Skelton of Holly Springs, Carolyn Spurlock of Texas; a brother, James Smith of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry L. Edwards, Charlie Dean Edwards; a daughter, Bobbie Lynn Fish; and two grandchildren, Jerry Stacks, Tina Fish.
Nyesha Jeaneice Everett
Nyesha Jeaneice Everett, 12, of Byhalia, died May 11, 2012, at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was a member of Everett’s Chapel MB Church in Michigan City, a cheerleader, a member of the dance team, a member of the gifted class and art class, an honor student and sixth grader at H.W. Byers School in Mt. Pleasant.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on May 18, 2-6 p.m. and at the school gym May 19, from 11-11:55 a.m.
Services will be held at 12 noon on May 19 at H.W. Byers High School gymnasium in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Patrick Washington will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, Natalie Scaife of Byhalia; her father, Tavareo Everett of Ashland; three sisters, Breyonnah Hale of Byhalia, Destiny Smith of Ashland, Taneshia Clear of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Bryson Hale of Byhalia, Tavareo Everett, Marquaveon Everett, both of Grand Junction, Tenn.; grandparents Nathaniel Scaife, Martha Smith Scaife, both of Lamar, Phelesia Hamer Everett and Major Everett, both of Ashland; and great-grandparents, Thelmon Smith of Lamar, Edith Hamer, Cinderella Everett, both of Ashland.
She was preceded in death by great-grandparents Mary Katherine Smith, Rosie Lee Scaife, Fred Scaife, Joseph Hamer and Velmon Everett.
Jean Carolyn Wilson Hoyt
Jean Carolyn Wilson Hoyt, 79, of Ashland, died May 13, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Robert Eric Hoyt Sr., her husband of 58 years. She retired from Oak Hall in Memphis after 35 years of service.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 15 at Ashland United Methodist Church. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her daughter, Laura Grubbs (David) of Ashland; her son, Robert Eric Hoyt II (Gail) of Holly Springs; brothers Richard Wilson (Pat), Bill Wilson (Robin), all of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Judy Belser of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Diana Magee.
The family requests that any memorial be sent to St. Jude.
Sammie Louis Jeffries
Sammie Louis Jeffries, 63, of Waterford, died May 14, 2012, at Alliance HealthCare System. He was a member of Wilkins Chapel CME Church and a disabled, self-employed, construction worker.
Visitation will be held on May 17, 2-7 p.m., with the family visiting with friends from 6-7 p.m. and at the church on May 18 from 12 noon to 12:55 p.m.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on May 18 at Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Waterford. Burial will be in Wilkins Chapel CME Church Cemetery. Pastor Evelyn Elliott will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three daughters, Rosell Jenkins of Humble, Texas, Catina Newsom, Samantha Jeffries, both of Waterford; a son, Bobby Jeffries of Waterford; three sisters, Betty Martin of Waterford, Lucresia Turnage of Memphis, Tenn., Lela S. Perteet of Chicago, Ill.; five brothers, Eddie Jeffries of Holly Springs, Amos Jeffries, Alfred Jeffries, Bobby Jeffries, Earvin Jeffries, all of Waterford; and six grandchildren.
Casey Denise Jones
Casey Denise Jones, 35, of Byhalia, died May 7, 2012. She was a member of Barton First Baptist Church and a business manager for the Marshall County Water Association.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial was in Coldwater Baptist Cemetery in Barton. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her mother, Denise Fenicchia of Red Banks; a son, Zachery James Jones of Red Banks; a brother, David Allen Webster of Memphis, Tenn.; and two sisters, Patricia Webster of Memphis, Tenn., Carmen Huddleston of West Plains, Mo.
Mattie L. Blackmond Jones
Mattie L. Blackmond Jones, 95, of Holly Springs, died May 2, 2012, in Holly Springs. She was a housekeeper. She was a member of Chulahoma MB Church, the oldest member of the mother board at the church and a member of the community center choir.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 12 at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in the Chulahoma Cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves four daughters, Lela Ray Faulkner, Shirley Jones, Ann Jones, all of Chicago, Ill., Clara Jones of Holly Springs; a son, Michael Jones of Chicago; two sisters, Rosie Blackmond of Wyattes, Morristeen Fitts of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 62 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
