Allen L. Gardner
Allen L. “Spider” Gardner, 67, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 24, 2014, at his home. He was church treasurer, head trustee, church usher, missionary and church steward. He was a self-employed electrician.
Visitation will be Oct. 31 at the funeral home from 1-6 p.m. and at the church, Nov. 1, 11-11:55 am.
Services will be held at 12 noon on Nov. 1 at Mt. Gilead CME Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Rev. Brad McCoy will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Brenda Williams Gardner; four daughters, Nicole Gardner of Chicago, Ill., Sundai (Alex) Jones of Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., Hope Johnson of Little Rock, Ark., Sherette Gardner of Holly Springs; two sons, Allen Norman, Derrick Gardner, both of Pine Bluff, Ark.; a sister, Claudette Denton of Pine Bluff; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Milton Graham
Milton Graham, 75, of Myrtle, died Oct. 17, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Union County. He was an Army veteran.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Pine Bluff Church in Myrtle. Burial was in Gerizum Cemetery in Myrtle. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Josephine Graham; four children, Carl Graham, Kevin Graham, both of Myrtle, Carolyn Graham of Holly Springs, and Jerry Graham of Memphis, Tenn.
Billy F. Hunsucker
Billy F. Hunsucker, 87, of Byhalia, died Oct. 23, 2014. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.
He leaves his wife, Rachel Hunsucker; two daughters, Loyce Howell (James) and Linda Favazza (Frank A. Jr.); his son, Billy Wayne Hunsucker; his sister, Ruth Ranks (Jim); his brother, Ralph Hunsucker (Peggy); eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Hunsucker; two sisters, Virginia Cheatwood, and Louise Taylor.
Maurice Aaron Martin
Maurice Aaron Martin, 62, of Waterford, died Oct. 21, 2014, at his home. He was a disabled, self-employed carpenter.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 25 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Holly Springs. Burial was in Hamilton Chapel CME Church Cemetery in Waterford. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Dorothy Pegues Martin; a son, Kevin Jeffries of Waterford; three daughters, Monica Walton, Brittney Jeffries, both of Waterford, Demetria Allen of Texas; two sisters, Andrea Burkette of Olive Branch, France Hampton of Holly Springs; a brother, Willie James Martin of Waterford; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Erica DeAnna Martin; and two brothers, Alonzo Thomas, and Chester Thomas.
Martisa Rena Fonville McAdams
Martisa Rena Fonville, 32, of Reds Banks, died Oct. 20, 2014, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Beluah MB Church in Panola County and employed in assembly (return center) at Thomas and Betts.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 at New Dimension Salt and Light Ministries in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Eddie Walker officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Clifton McAdams; five daughters, Shaquiva Fonville, Taneisha Fonville, Clanetria McAdams, Talyah McAdams, Olivia McAdams, all of Red Banks; her father, Riley Butts of Como; her stepmother, Murry Black of Sardis; three sisters, Rilsha Butts, Marilyn Butts-Davis of Sardis, Marshundra Milan of Horn Lake; and two brothers, Melvin Fonville of Horn Lake, Errick Wooten of Tyro.
Melton Feemester McClure
Melton Feemester McClure, 74, of Slayden, died Oct. 25, 2014, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a farmer and former District 2 Marshall County Supervisor.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Slayden Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Moscow, Tenn. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Linda H. McClure; two sons, Gregory Scott McClure of Slayden, Keith Wayne McClure of Holly Springs; a brother, James “Bo” McClure of Slayden; and three grandchildren.
Keith Floyd Murray Jr.
Keith Floyd Murray Jr., 26, of Water Valley, died Oct. 19, 2014. He attended Potts Camp Elementary School, Lafayette High School and Rust College. He played with the Rust College Bearcat Baseball team. He was employed with the University of Mississippi in Oxford.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 25 in the Potts Camp High School gymnasium. Burial was in Mt. Olive MB Church Cemetery in Potts Camp. Rev. Michael Richmond Sr., pastor of World Overcomers Church in Holly Springs, officiated. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Jaciana Murray of Water Valley; his mother, Linda (Levi) Driver of Holly Springs; his grandmother, Bessie Oliver; four brothers, Marcus Lester of Amory, Farris (Shun) Lewis of Denver, Colo., Richard (Tina) McNeal Jr. of Potts Camp, Romale (Vivian) McNeal Sr. of Potts Camp; three sisters, Traci Bowens, Laura Knox, Johnisha Scott, all of Holly Springs; and his fiancée, Cornelia White of Water Valley.
Pallbearers were Lontonio Henderson, Nicholas Henderson, Chris Porter, Lavonte Richmond, Eric Isom, Randy Isom, Shawn Driver, Montrez Vonner and Denote Isom. Honorary pallbearers were Romale McNeal, Richard McNeal, Farris (Shun) Lewis, Markus Lester, David Vonner and Robert Douglass.
He was preceded in death by his father Roy Lester, and a sister.
Rita Matilda Murphy Gonzalez
Rita Matilda “Tilly” Murphy Gonzalez, 59, of Byhalia, died Oct. 23, 2014, at her home. She was the widow of Vincent Gonzalez. She received her education in the Logtown, Mississippi, public school system. She was a member of Brookside Baptist Church in Barton.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Byhalia Cemetery. Arrangements are provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville, Tenn.
She leaves two daughters, Carolyn Carrera of Florida, Georgiana Marshall of Tennessee; two sisters, Mary Weems (Ted) of Mississippi, Sarah Wilhelm (Larry) of Florida; her brother, Luther David Murphy (Brandy) of Mississippi; her boyfriend, Paul Wufford of Mississippi; and nine grandchildren.
