Mandy Edith Pryor Wilson
Mandy Edith Pryor Wilson, 88, of Waterford, died Feb. 1, 2011, at Baptist Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of Reggie Wilson Sr., a member of Mt. Peel MB Church, a member of Sunrise Chapter #166 of the Eastern Star and Women Improvement Society.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in the Mt. Peel Church Cemetery. Rev. Rondias Cox officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves 14 children, Gussie Talley, Mentha Miller, Annie Ruth Lucas, Deloris Dowsing, Lucatheryn Grant, Brenda Rogers, Kelvin Wilson, Martha Penilton, Dorothy LeSure, all of Holly Springs, Wesley Wilson of Huntsville, Ala., Reggie Wilson Jr. of Chicago, Ill., Leroy Wilson of Oxford, Essex Wilson of Olive Branch, Curtis Howell of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Nancy Hickman of Des Moines, Iowa, Bettie Thompson of Waterford; 49 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren, 38 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Charles Audley Glosson
Charles Audley Glosson, 57, of Byhalia, died May 5, 2011, at his home. He was a member of the Church of the Living Gospel and a house painter.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 9 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Greenleaf Cemetery in Independence.
He leaves a son, Doug Glosson of Brighton, Mich.; a daughter, Dinah Glosson, also of Brighton; two brothers, Earl Glosson of Nesbit, Jay Glosson of Coldwater; four sisters, Patsy Perkins, Charlene Houston, Sheena Glosson, Connie Hutchens, all of Byhalia; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Glosson and two sisters, Arnita McCollough and Jeanette Sides.
Pallbearers were Jay Glosson, Waylon Sides, Raymond Glosson, Michael Hutchens, Joseph Hutchens, Earl Glosson, Justin Glosson, Brian Perkins and Brandon Hutchens.
Robert Quincy Harden
Robert Quincy Harden, 61, died April 29, 2011. He was a former member of Chulahoma MB Church. He was employed with the United States Postal Service, where he retired after 30 years.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 7 at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Chicago, Ill. Pastor A.L. Hawkins officiated. Burial was in Washington Memory Gardens, Homewood, Ill.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Lolita; two children, Channell Dinwiddie (Todd) and Robert Quincy Harden Jr.; five sisters, Regina Walker, Frenetta Hurd (Gregory Wilson), Carolyn Turner (Kenneth), Sonja Wilkins (Larry) and Vickie Dixon (Bernard); two brothers, James Harden, William Harden (Joann); and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Fields Jr.
Pallbearers were Marquis Robertson, Darryl Farrell, Quintin Gilmore, Theron Cungtion, Marvin Cobbs and Herman Dunbar. Honorary pallbearers were Andre Wiggins and Robert Q. Harden Jr.
Oliver Gene Marcum
Oliver Gene Marcum, 60, of Holly Springs, died May 8, 2011, at his home. He was the widower of Judy Moore Marcum. He was a self-employed trim carpenter until retirement.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. on May 10 at Dogwood Cemetery in Blytheville, Ark. Cobb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Catherine Woodard Marcum; his mother, Mary Virginia Williams Marcum of Byhalia; his children, Billy Marcum of Byhalia, Jeremy Morrison, Danielle Marcum of Holly Springs; two brothers, Billy Mac Marcum of Bartlett, Tenn., Joe Marcum of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Barbara Crowder of Arlington, Tenn., Betty Marcum of Houston, Tx., Debbie Jean Rodgers of Yellville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Marcum; and two sisters, Carrie Holobaugh and Linda Roland.
Nellie Faye Mills
Nellie Faye Mills, 80, died May 2, 2011, at Ashland Health and Rehab Center in Ashland. She was the widow of George F. Mills.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 7 at Forest Hill South Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Forest Hill South Cemetery.
She leaves four sons, George R., Dennis and Chuck Mills, all of Byhalia, Michael Mills of San Antonio, Tx.; a sister, Olivia Colston of Holly Springs; four brothers, Eugene and Bobby Brown of Caddo Gap, Ark., Tommy Brown of Memphis, Tenn., Mike Brown of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; nine grandchildren and seven grandchildren.
Gay Moorehead
Gay Moorehead, 92, of Hickory Flat, died May 5, 2011, at his home. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired farmer, production control manager and self-employed pallet maker. He was a member of the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on May 9 at United Funeral Service Chapel. Burial was in Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Brownie Tohill officiated. United Funeral Service in New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife of 73 years, Lawanda Dickerson Moorehead; two sons, Robert Watson Moorehead (Delores) of Wellington, Ohio; Eulan Stanley Moorehead (Linda) of Seabrook, Tx.; a brother, Wells Rufus Moorehead (Helen) of Austin, Tx.,; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Armstrong; and a brother, Henry Clay Moorehead.
Pallbearers were Warner Bradford, Johnny Elliot, Jack Gadd, Sid Ayres, Don Taylor and Marcus Moorehead.
Bertha Mae Wallace
Bertha Mae Wallace, 81, of Heber Springs, Ark., formerly of Byhalia, died May 2, 2011. She was the widow of John Wallace and was retired from Compo.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on May 6 at Forest Hill South. Burial was in Forest Hill South Cemetery.
She leaves her children, Joyce Ballard, Clyde Hunt, both of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Ize Westbrook
Ize Westbrook, 65, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Cayce, died May 5, 2011, at Primary Rehabilitation Center in Memphis. He was a member of the church choir, a member of the NAACP and a disabled carpenter with Westside Builders.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on May 14 at New Sherron MB Church in Cayce, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Reginald Parham will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
He leaves a daughter, Hellen Marie Westbrook of Memphis; three sons, Jerry Westbrook, Norland Jerome Norman, both of Memphis, Ize Westbrook Jr. of Collierville, Tenn.; five sisters, Bernice Westbrook, Teresa Westbrook, Gail Westbrook, Robin Westbrook, all of Memphis, Mary Westbrook of Collierville; a brother, James P. Westbrook of Collierville; and one grandchild.
