Eddie Martez Hudson
Eddie Martez Hudson, 26, of Lamar, died May 2, 2008 at his home. He was employed at Chick Fil-A in Collierville, Tenn.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 10 at Foundation of Life in Lamar. Burial was in Miracle Temple Salt and Light Cemetery. Minister Ray Patterson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Annie Tucker Hudson of Michigan City; a daughter, Karlisia Hudson of Blue Mountain; two sons, Martavious Hudson of Holly Springs, Monterrious Hudson of Blue Mountain; two sisters, Kawanda Hudson of Michigan City, Sheketha Rayford of Lamar; a brother, Altaveno Hudson of Michigan City; and a grandmother, Dorothy Jones of Michigan City.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie James Hudson; and paternal grandparents William Tucker and Leonia Tucker.
John L. Maher
John L. Maher, 59, of Holly Springs, died May 9, 2008 at his home. He was a construction superintendent with B.K. Framing Inc. for 16 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of VFW and NRA.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on May 12 at Crittendon Memorial Park. Bro. Scott Broughton officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves Barbara Kyle of Holly Springs; two daughters, Christa White, Brandy Maher, both of Paris, Tenn.; a sister, Jean Wimberly of Paris, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
Robert Louis Lane
Robert Louis Lane, 69, of Wichita Falls, died May 6, 2008. He was a 1957 graduate of Kilmichael High School in Kilmichael. In 1964, he graduated from the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of ROTC. He received his commission to the United States Air Force in 1964 and served for 10 years, after which he entered the Air Force Reserve and then began employment as a civilian in the Air Force in 1975. He received his master’s degree from Midwestern State University in 1988. Air Force Reserve as a major in 1989. Since 1983, he was assigned to the 882 Training Group at Sheppard Air Force Base. He was presented with the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award during his time there. Prior to his retirement on Dec. 30, 1999, he had impacted the training of more than 103,000 students.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on May 10 at the First Baptist Church Wichita Falls, where he was a member. Full military services were held at 11 a.m. on May 12 at the Spring Hill Baptist Church in Waterford. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Nancy; two daughters, Laurie Ballenger of Arlington, Tx. and Robin Hampe of Plano, Tx.; two brothers, George Lane, David Lane, both of Stewart; and five grandchildren.
Gary Michael Stacks Jr.
Gary Michael Stacks Jr., 25, of Waterford, died May 10, 2008 in Byhalia. He was employed in carpeting and flooring.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on May 13 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Bro. Jeff Shipley officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, April Grace Stacks; his father, Gary Michael Stacks Sr. of Byhalia; his mother, Carolyn Stacks of Bartlett; stepmother, Carol Stacks of Byhalia; a son, Gary Michael III of Waterford; a daughter, Madison Grace of Waterford; and two sisters, Charquetta Stacks of Bartlett, Tenn., Tiffany Williams of Horn Lake.
Pallbearers were Ira Stevens, Gary Stacks Sr., Shawn Smothers, Steve Dabney, Edward Bowlin, Ronnie Stacks, Mike Boone and Adrian Byers.
Golie E. Parker Sr.
Golie E. Parker Sr., 73, of Berlin Heights, Ohio, died May 2, 2008 at his home. He was employed at the Ford Motor Co., paint department in Memphis, Tenn. in 1956. He worked there until the plant closed and then he transferred to the Ford Lorain Assembly Plant, and remained there until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 425, Lorain. He was a member of Everspring Baptist Church in Brownhelm, OH.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Janie D. (Franklin) Parker; daughters Debbie Gregory of Taylorsville, Ky., Pamela Massey of Newark and Lorie McCormick of Lorain; sons Golie (Eddie) Parker Jr. of Lorain, Terry Parker of Norwalk, James Parker of Berlin Heights; sisters Virginia Gullett and Dorothy Pannell, both of Holly Springs, Sarah Pannell of Red Banks; brothers William Parker of Byhalia, Robert Parker of Macedonia; and 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence E. Parker Jr.; a sister, Thelma Parker; and a son-in-law, Randall Massey.

Michael Leonard Pierce
Michael Leonard Pierce, 47, of Harmontown, died May 6, 2008 in Panola County. He lived in the area approximately 10 years. He was employed in the construction business.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Coleman Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his parents, Leonard and Ora Lee Pierce of Harmontown; two brothers, Terry Douglas Pierce, Kevin Ray Pierce, both of Harmontown.
Charles William Wilburn
Charles William Wilburn, 69, of Michigan City, died May 9, 2008 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Early Grove United Methodist and a disabled military veteran.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 11 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Early Grove Methodist Cemetery. Rex Wilburn officiated.
He leaves his wife, Aurora Wilburn; a son, Jason Wilburn of Navarre, Fla.; two daughters, Rita Gray of Lamar, Jessica Shoup of Ashland; his mother, Velma Cothern Wilburn of Byhalia; three brothers, Tony Wilburn of Madison, Terry Wilburn of Michigan City, Randy Wilburn of Ashland; three sisters, Wanda Hunsucker of Michigan City, Martha Williford of Grand Junction, Tenn., and Kathy Hock of Byhalia.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Faulkenberry.
Pallbearers were Andrew Wilburn, Josh Wilburn, Shannon Wilburn, Kent Wilburn, Bradley Wilburn, Whitney Wilburn and Jeff Williford.
Joe Gene Elliott
Joe Gene Elliott, 68, of Holly Springs, died May 8, 2008 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga. He was a member of Chulahoma MB Church and a retired business owner.
Services were held at 12 noon on May 17 at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. John E. Booker officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Alma Harden Elliott of Holly Springs; two daughters, Doris Gordon, Brenda Elliott Ejimofor, both of Holly Springs; three sons, Ronnie Elliott, Olanda Elliott, both of Holly Springs, Reggie Elliott of Olive Branch; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Girtha Richards, Ethel B. Matthews, Louella Staples, Cindy Harkins; four brothers, C.A. Elliott, John Elliott, Thomas Elliott, Ruben Pinson.
Pallbearers were Robert Isom, Rodney Elliott, Robert Bell, Linwood Richard, Sean Eason and Tyrone Richard. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Elliott, Olando Elliott, T.C. Elliott, Ellis T. Dean, Derick Eason, Reggie Elliott, Charles Matthews, Robert Harden, James Eason and T.C. Richard Jr.
