James L. Pritchard
James L. Pritchard, 47, of Red Banks, died March 27, 2009 at Briarcrest Extended Care Home in Ashland. He was a disabled factory worker and a member of Mt. Sinai Church of God In Christ in Mt. Pleasant.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on April 4 at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Cayce. He was buried in Mt. Sinai COGIC Cemetery. Elder Supvain Pritchard officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves five sisters, Corine Norfleet of Red Banks, Helen Lewellen, Liz McClain, Emma Pritchard, all of Memphis, Tenn., Christine Pritchard of Chicago, Ill.; and eight brothers, pastor Supvain Pritchard, deacon Eirby Pritchard, Kenny Pritchard, all of Memphis, Tenn., pastor Curtis Pritchard of Collierville, Tenn., minister Raymond Pritchard Jr., Leon Pritchard, Kent Pritchard, all of Red Banks, Bobby Pritchard of Holly Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Henry Pritchard and Mattie Seldon Pritchard.
Pallbearers were Contello Norfleet, Raymond Pritchard III, Carlos Brown, James Pritchard, Curtis Pritchard Jr., Jonathan Pritchard, Anthony Norfleet and Rodney Bobo. Honorary pallbearers were pastor Curtis Pritchard Sr., minister Raymond Pritchard Jr., Bobby Pritchard, Kenny Pritchard, deacon Eirby Pritchard, pastor Supvain Pritchard, Leon Pritchard and Kent Pritchard.
Carl Edward Rucker Jr.
Carl Edward Rucker Jr., 57, of Holly Springs, died April 3, 2009 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. He was a member of Providence MB Church in Holly Springs and a disabled construction worker.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on April 10 at Harris Chapel CME Church in Ashland. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three sons, Carlos Rucker of Memphis, Tenn., Carl Rucker III, Xavier Hankins, both of Holly Springs; three daughters, Chiquita Daugherty Mosley, Quanita Hankins, both of Holly Springs, Tarita Cross of Memphis, Tenn.; a special friend, Concetta Ingram of Holly Springs; seven sisters, Helen Jeffries-Lamb of Jackson, Miss., Willie Mae Aldridge of Bossier City, La., Della Lumpkin, Joann Anderson, Sharon Nabors, Bonnie Oliver, Sandra Jones, all of Holly Springs; two brothers, Thomas Nabors, Donnie Nabors, both of Holly Springs; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Albert Jeffries Sr., Albert Jeffries Jr., Undray Lamb, Terrance Paige, Mario Lumpkin and Darryl Hankins. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Jones, William Brown, Richard George, Joe Manning, Oscar George, Izaih Lumpkin Jr. and Robert Pegues.
Willie Earl Wilkins
Willie Earl Wilkins, 60, of Holly Springs, died March 30, 2009 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. He was a member of the male chorus at church, a church usher and a disabled factory worker.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on April 4 at Chulahoma MB Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. S.A. Phillips officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Cloyce Taylor Wilkins; two daughters, Adenia Taylor, Audra Taylor, both of Holly Springs; four sons, Derrick (Deke) Wilkins of Charlotte, N.C., Willie Earl (Duke) Wilkins Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., Andre Hearn of Victoria, Keith Taylor of East St. Louis, Ill.; his father, Earnest Wilkins Sr. of Holly Springs; a sister, Barbara Stanback of Memphis, Tenn.; and six brothers, Michael Wilkins of Southaven, Earnest Wilkins Jr. of Victoria, Percell Wilkins, Sylvester Wilkins, Lorenzo Wilkins, Curtis Wilkins, all of Holly Springs.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Wilkins; his mother, Earlean Jones Wilkins; and a brother, Alonzo Wilkins.
Pallbearers were Eric Cox, Nicholas Wilkins, Preston Wilkins, Corey Wilkins, Jeremy Wilkins and Latredrick Wilkins. Honorary pallbearers were Derrick Wilkins, Willie Earl Wilkins Jr. and Aundre Hearn.
Garrick Darnell Harris
Garrick Darnell Harris, 19, of Clarksdale, formerly of Ashland, died May 1, 2009 at his home. He was disabled.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on May 9 at St. James COGIC in Ripley, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder Bernell Hoyle officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Carol B. Harris of Ashland; his father, Garrick Darnell Bryson of California; a sister, Carla Harris of Ashland; and his grandmother, Charlean Harris of Ashland.
Pallbearers were Terrance Smith, Tony Hudson, Eddie Hudson, Gregory Gibson, Robert Long and James Hudson.
Rosie Nell Ford Jeffries
Rosie Nell Ford Jeffries, 63, of Holly Springs, died May 2, 2009 at her home. She was a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ and a factory worker with Emerson Electric.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 9 at Doxey Morehouse Auditorium at Rust College. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Supt. Albert Pass officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two daughters, Catina K. Jeffries and Demiko L. Jeffries, both of Holly Springs; four sons, Corey J. Jeffries of Jackson, Anthony D. Ford, Rodney O’Neil Jeffries, Frederick D. Jeffries, all of Holly Springs; three sisters, Louise Shelby of Homer, La., Asha Ford of Marietta, Ga., Barbara Mack of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Easkline Ford Sr. of Holly Springs, Collin Ford of Chicago, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Erica Denise Jeffries; five sisters and four brothers.
Pallbearers were Willie Aldridge, Eric Rooks, Albert Webb, Terry Moton, Melvin Rooks and Barry Bobo. Honorary pallbearers were Timothy Anderson, Cedric Sims, Eric Jeffries, Terrell Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Clifford Sims and Easkline Ford Jr.
Blanton Johns Jones
Blanton Johns Jones of Holly Springs died May 7, 2009 at his home. A lifelong resident of Holly Springs, he graduated from Holly Springs High School in 1945. He then enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged, he attended and graduated from Mississippi State University. He spent most of his work life as a brick manufacturer and he was involved in the organization and management of Holly Springs Brick & Tile; Southern Brick & Tile Company in Byhalia; and Clay Products, Inc. He was employed by Acme Brick and served in management of plants in Texas for a brief time before returning to Holly Springs Brick & Tile, from which he retired. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was an ordained elder and deacon. He was also a past president of the Holly Springs Rotary Club.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 9 at First Presbyterian Church of Holly Springs. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Jean Ann Kight Jones; four children, Christy Dale Jones of Jackson, Stephen Blanton Jones of Birmingham, Ala., Kenneth Howard Jones of Holly Springs, LeAnn Jones Priebe of Plano, Tx.; siblings Eleanor Howard Warren of Senatobia, Howard Taliaferro Jones Jr. of Newnan, Ga., James Walker Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., Laralei Jones Ammons of Ono Island, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Egbert Willingham Jones and Alston Crawford Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 164 South Memphis Street, Holly Springs, MS, or a charity of choice.
Charlean Jones
Charlean Jones, 57, of Holly Springs, died May 5, 2009 at Germantown Methodist Hospital in Germantown, Tenn. She was a member of her church’s usher board and a disabled factory worker with Mulay Plastics in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 9 at Strawberry MB Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Willie F. Jeffries officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Bridgette Bulloch of Horn Lake; two sisters, Louella Glass, Carlean Crane, both of Holly Springs; four brothers, Willie Louis Jones of Memphis, Tenn., Joe Stevenson, Ben J. Stevenson, Butler Stevenson, all of Holly Springs; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Lee Wright.
Pallbearers were Tracy Bulloch, Robbie Sellers, Caronn Malone, David Glass, Ronald Stewart and Timothy Oliver Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Crane Jr., Troy Wright Jr., Cedric Stevenson, Earl Crane, DeWarren Stevenson and Joe Stevenson Jr.
