Lillie Shelton Bridges
Lillie Shelton Bridges, 78, of Crawford, died Jan. 1, 2006 at her residence. She served on the Missionary Society. She was a member of the church choir, Sunday school teacher, youth director and a member of Heroines of Jericho.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 7 at Oakland MB Church in Crawford, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe L. Brown officiated. Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Johnson Bridges Sr.; four sons, Johnson Bridges Jr., Freddie Bridges, Walter Bridges, all of Crawford, Danny Bridges of Columbus; four daughters, Betty Phillips of Columbus, Martha Howard of Holly Springs, Mary Dixon of Crawford, Debbie Brown of Orlando, Fla.; 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Johnson Bridges III, Robert Phillips Jr., Eric Bridges, Marquis Dixon and Dexter Bridges.
Mary Elizabeth Love Elliott
Mary Elizabeth Love Elliott, 82, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 3, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of C.A. Elliott. She was a church mother, pastor’s aide, secretary for Home & Foreign Missions, assistant secretary for Prayer & Bible Band, Sunday school teacher, member of Mississippi Homemaker Volunteer, Inc., volunteer at Ida B. Wells Museum, Avon representative, Candy Lady Neighbor and Church.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Jan. 9 at Christ Temple Church of God In Christ, where she was a member. Burial was in Shiloh MB Church Cemetery. Elder Albert Pass officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves an adopted daughter, pastor Kathy Jones of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Vantonias Elliott, Carl Taylor Moneyham, both of Holly Springs; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Helen Thorne Eskridge
Helen Thorne Eskridge, 68, formerly of Holly Springs, died Jan. 9, 2006 at her home in Tupelo. She was a graduate of Millsaps College and a member of First United Methodist Church in Tupelo. She was a faithful presence at the NMMC Wellness Center.
Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 11 at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home in Tupelo. Rev. Bill McAlilly officiated.
She leaves two daughters, Susan Eskridge Frazier of Jackson and Laurel Catherine Eskridge of Austin, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Mike Conner Humphreys
Mike Conner Humphreys, 74, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 6, 2006 at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was the widower of Gloriana Gay Humphreys. He was an Air Force veteran, retired after 20 years.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 8 at Hill Crest Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three sons, Gary Humphreys of Corinth, Robert Humphreys of Stuttgart, Germany, Randy Humphreys of Corinth; two sisters, Juathena Carlton of Batesville, Dorothy Shelton of Cordova, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
Lucille Clayton Hunsucker Howell
Lucille Clayton Hunsucker Howell, 89, of Hickory Flat, died Jan. 3, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Thomas T. Howell and a member of Temperance Hill Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Temperance Hill Cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Tony Smith officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three sisters, Mary Howell, Irene Howell, both of Hickory Flat, Rebecca Clifton of Potts Camp.
Pallbearers were Frank Howell Jr., Henry M. Clifton, Charles W. Clifton, Clyde Howell, Ray Clifton and Ralph Hill.
Erin Cecile Jones
Erin Cecile Jones, 69, of Atrium at Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Byhalia, died Jan. 6, 2006 at her home.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 9 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery.
She leaves a brother, Briggs Howard Jones of Hilton Head Island, SC; and a sister, Lidie Jones Peery of the Marshes of Skidaway, Savannah, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Byhalia.
Robert Lee Long
Robert Lee Long, 54, of Ashland, died Jan. 2, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Palestine MB Church in Ashland and a cabinet maker with Quartet Manufacturing.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Faith Temple Church of God In Christ in Slayden. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder Christopher Griggs officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Cora Harris Long; three daughters, Virginia Nesbit of Walnut, Patricia Long, Shronnica Long, both of Ashland; an adopted daughter, Romana Gibson of Ashland; two sons, Greg Long of Memphis, Robert Cordell Long of Ashland; his mother, Sally Williams Norton of Ashland; six sisters, Mary Long, Shirley Jackson, Shirley Strickland, Sadie Long, Joe Ann Long, Susie Smith, all of Ashland; a brother, Oscar Long of Ashland; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Larry Jackson, Andrew Strickland Sr., Ted Smith, Lgean Hampton, Lavell Norton and Pete Bullock. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Norton, Terrance Smith, Andrew Strickland Jr., Bruce Williams, Curvan Hampton and Rodney Bryson.
Willie Lawrence Moore
Willie Lawrence Moore, 57, of Red Banks, died Jan. 3, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was a self-employed part owner of Southern Homes Construction Company.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 at Mt. Newell MB Church in Red Banks. Burial was in Mt Newell Memorial Gardens in Red Banks. Elder Wayne Jefferson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his mother, Lydia Blair Moore; two children, Jean Ragland of Petersburg, Va., Demarquis Redding of Byhalia; two brothers, Richard Moore, Jeffery Moore, both of Red Banks; three sisters, Doris Moore, Annie Kizer, both of Red Banks, Odessa Todd of Byhalia; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie Hall and Lonnie Moore.
