Percy Tunstall Sr.
Percy (Spider) Tunstall Sr., 70, of Laws Hill, formerly of Victoria, died May 20, 2005 at his daughter’s home in Laws Hill. He was the widower of Berdeva Coleman Tunstall, a member of Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, a retired construction worker with Gay Mickey Construction Company in Memphis, Tenn.

Services were held at 12 noon on May 25 at Newell Chapel CME Church in Victoria. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Harry Bronson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves five daughters, Clara Miller of Laws Hill, Annette Lucas, Carolyn Hardin, Barbara Gary, Angela Tunstall, all of Victoria; two sons, Percy Tunstall Jr., David Allen Tunstall, both of Victoria; his stepmother, Luella Guy Tunstall of Victoria; two sisters, Josephine Guy, Joann Tunstall, Darlene Tunstall, all of Victoria, Mamie Kelly of Indianapolis, Ind., Sterlene Mims of Memphis, Tenn., Judy Conley of St. Louis, Mo.; nine brothers, Amos Tunstall of Key West, Fla., Orange Tunstall Jr., Albert Tunstall, Curtis Tunstall, Larry Tunstall, Terry Tunstall, Nathaniel Tunstall, James Tunstall, Thelma Tunstall, all of Victoria; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dewayne Tunstall, Greg Guy, Chris Tunstall, Eric Tunstall, Gus Tunstall, Tony Coleman, Terrance Coleman. Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Tunstall, Albert Tunstall, Larry Tunstall, Orange Tunstall, James Tunstall, Nathaniel Tunstall.

Donna Ruth Watts
Donna Ruth Watts, 48, of Olive Branch, died June 2, 2005 near Southaven. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Olive Branch, and a registered nurse with Smith & Nephew, Inc. She was a graduate of Potts Camp High School and valedictorian of her class. She attended Mississippi State and graduated from Northwest Community College as an RN. She was employed with St. Francis Hospital in Memphis for 22 years as a supervisory nurse in orthopedic surgery. She also campaigned and spoke frequently for her father, Flick Ash, who was in politics for many years. As a nurse at St. Francis, she would check the roster for Marshall County folks and would visit them while they were patients. Many times she brought fruit baskets or food to patients. At Smith & Nephew, she traveled extensively to foreign countries and large cities in the U.S., gathering data for the firm. Donna Ruth loved her family and was always at home on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas and birthdays. She especially loved her two sons, Austin and Evan. One of her main hobbies was taking them to sporting events. She will be tremendously missed by all.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 5 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Potts Camp Cemetery. Bro. Jim Buchanan, Bro. Tony Smith and Bro. Chuck Fowler officiated.

She leaves two sons, Austin Ross Watts, Evan Logan Watts, both of Olive Branch; her father and mother, J.M. (Flick) Ash, Floy Russom Ash, of Potts Camp; a brother, Jesse Ash Jr. of Potts Camp; and two sisters, Ludis Reaves of Olive Branch, Liesa Weaver of Petal.

Pallbearers were Mike Reaves, Mike Weaver, Gary Russom, Tommy Ash, Bubba Russom, Ashley McAlexander, Trey Ash, Jimmy Ash.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

Sarah Lou Fair Cooper
Sarah Lou Fair Cooper, 63, of Somerville died August 2, 2005 at Christopher’s Retirement Center in Holly Springs where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was a member of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church her entire life.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on August 6 at the Peebles Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. R. Christy Morgan of Corinth, former pastor of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Somerville City Cemetery. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Sydna Cooper Hurdle of Holly Springs; a son, Mark Cooper of Somerville, two grandsons, Jesse Karr (Jake) Hurdle, IV, and Sydney Gordon Hurdle.

Pallbearers were Will Bowling, Ron Campbell, Will Middlecoff, Hugh Parks, Bill Rhea and Billy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Thomas H. Fowler, Harmon Havercamp and Billy Yancey.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fair Theatre Renovation Fund, P.O. Box 909, Somerville, TN 38068.

Larrine Hampton
Larrine Hampton, 62, of Memphis, Tenn., died July 30, 2005 at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis.

Services were held at 12 noon on Aug. 6 at Greater Open Door MB Church in Memphis. Rev. Y.C. Cox officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves five daughters, Shirley Cox, Susie Williams, Florrine Hampton, Dorothy Montgomery, Chantay Nelms, all of Memphis; three sons, James Lee Hampton Jr., Gregory Lee Hampton, Elijah Martel Hampton, all of Byhalia; four sisters, Lula Mae McKinney, Vorice McKinney, Arlean Norton, all of Slayden, Rosemary Rhine of Byhalia; six brothers, Bobby Snow, Q.C. Snow, both of Memphis, Larry Snow of Byhalia, Willie Snow of Holly Springs, Henry McKinney of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandsons, 12 granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.

Miguel Hernandez
Miguel Hernandez, 20, of Byhalia, died Aug. 1, 2005 in Arkansas. He was Catholic and a construction worker.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 6 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Dolores Hidalgo GTO, Mexico.

He leaves his father, Victor Hernandez of Byhalia; his mother, Curz Velagues of Soledad Nueva, Mexico; grandparents, Rafaela Juan Hernandez, Fransisca Monjalar, both of Mexico; two brothers, Victor Velagues Hernandez of Nashville, Tenn., Benjamin Hernandez of Byhalia; two sisters, Anna E. Isavell Hernandez of Soledad Nueva, Mexico, Raphela Hernandez of Mexico.

Dorothy Leak
Dorothy Leak, 66, of Lamar, died August 8, 2005 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a member of Lamar Presbyterian Church.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on August 10 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Don Wilson officiated. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery.

She leaves her husband, Bobby Leak; three daughters, Melanie Hurdle, Teresa Carpenter, both of West Point, Cindy Shaw of Holly Springs; a brother, Charlie Cole of Boise, Id.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Cary Carpenter, Tyler Carpenter, Joseph Carpenter, Casey McCullar, Lucas Carpenter, Chad Fitch, and Tripp McCullar.

Dedrick Lesure
Dedrick (Lil’ Man) Lesure, 33, of Holly Springs, died July 31, 2005 at the Regional Medical Center.

Services were held at on Aug. 6 at Providence MB CHurch in Holly Springs. Burial was in the Cottrell Memorial Gardens in Holly Springs. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves four daughters, Bianca Reaves, Talleah Anthony, both of Ashland, Shemice Milan of Chulahoma, Dariah Lesure of Lamar; two sons, LaKendrick Wilson of Byhalia, Cameron Isom of Holly Springs; his mother, Mildred Lesure; three sisters, Sherry Lesure, Ketoya Lesure, Sandra Jones, all of Holly Springs; seven brothers, Antonio Lesure, Marco Lesure, Randy Hicks, Jarvae Hunt, Jeffery Walton, Douglas Jones, Bryant Faulkner, all of Holly Springs; his grandmother, Nancy Lawson of Aurora, Ill.; special friends, Carmonica Isom and Robert Shipp.

Jayden Allen Lewis
Jayden Allen Lewis, 1 year, of Potts Camp, died Aug. 6, 2005 at his home.

Services were held on Aug. 9 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Worsham officiated.

He leaves his mother and father, Tabitha Lewis and Joe Lewis of Potts Camp; his brother, Hunter Brown of Potts Camp; his sister, Hailey Brown of Potts Camp; grandparents, Wayne and Debbie Howard of Potts Camp, Vivian Lewis of Muskogee, Okla., William Lewis of Utah; great-grandparents, Ed Jones of Muskogee, Okla., Jo Anne Jones of Muskogee, Okla., Eugenee and Edna Lewis of Hickory Flat.
