David Harold Mason Sr.
David Harold Mason Sr., 81, of Memphis, Tenn., died Aug. 21, 2011, at his home. He was the widower of Nelda Hinton Mason, a Methodist, a retailer with Blue Ribbon Trophy Co., and an Army veteran of Korea. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Valley Grove Cemetery in Michigan City. Rev. William Kemp officiated.
He leaves a son, David H. Mason Jr. (Regina) of Memphis; three daughters, Nelda Skinner (Tommy) of Memphis, Linda Finley (Clint) of Olive Branch, Nancy Shelton (Rayford) of Michigan City; a brother, Walter Mason (Lottie) of Southaven; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cecelia G. Moore
Cecelia G. “Lil Girl” Moore, 86, of Byhalia, died Aug. 14, 2011, at her home. She was a member of the church choir, Zion District Association representative, BTU Congress representative, Golden Grain Good Shepherd Lodge #42, Collierville, Tenn., and a retired self-employed farmer.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Aug. 21 at New Sherron MB Church in Cayce, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Mitchell Chandler officiated. J.F. Brittenun and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two daughters, Vera Walker of Collierville, Tenn., Ruth Stevenson of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Robert Norfleet, Eddie Earl Norfleet, James Otis Norfleet, all of Byhalia; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children, Herman Alton Jones, Nadean Slayden.
Charles Leslie Stewart
Charles Leslie Stewart, 74, of Byhalia, died Aug. 18, 2011, at his home. He was a Baptist and an HVAC installer.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Joey Turner officiated.
He leaves his wife, Rosa Lee Stewart; a daughter, Malinda Stevens of Byhalia; a brother, Hancel Stewart of Brownsville, Tenn.; two sisters, Joyce Riggins of Memphis, Tenn., Juanita Ingram of Dandridge, Tenn.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Linda Tate
Linda Tate, 60, of Potts Camp, died Aug. 18, 2011, at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto. She was retired from the Baptist Hospital-Union County as a clinic coordinator. She was a member of Collins-Hurdle VFW, Post 5697.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 20 at Temperance Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Ken Cooper and Rev. Mark Bishop officiated. United Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Danny Tate; her mother, Pearl Marie Owen; a daughter, Lora Finley (Drake); a son, Shawn Thwaites; two sisters, Sue Roberts, Cindy Rogers; three brothers, Dennis Kiddy, David Owen, Nicky Owen; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Kiddy.

Tonya Gail Tilley
Tonya Gail Tilley, 40, died Aug. 10, 2011. She was a member of Friendship Assembly of God.
She leaves her husband of 22 years, Ray Tilley Jr.; a son, Richard Nunley Sr.; her mother, Brenda Blair; a sister, Bobbie Brents; a brother, Billy Blair; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Tilley Nunley.
Rose Brown
Avriel Rosalie “Rose” Brown, 91, died June 11 in St. Louis, Mo. She was born in Victoria, Texas. She was the widow of Wilbur C. “Red” Brown and a Navy veteran of World War II, where she served in D.C. as part of a small, elite group of Japanese message decoders. She subsequently worked as an office manager for Brown Printing Company and Marshall County Hospital. After her husband died in 1992, she moved to North Carolina, then to St. Louis, Mo., to live with her daughter.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on June 23 at the First Baptist Church of Holly Springs. A short burial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Hill Crest Cemetery.
She leaves her daughter, Dawn Cassara (Joe); a sister, Wanda Holbrook of Holly Springs; and a grandson, Joseph Rocco.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ray Brown.
Arnell Bowen
Arnell Bowen, 76, of Byhalia, died June 5, 2013, in Southaven. He was a farmer.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on June 15 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery in Holly Springs. Rodgers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves six daughters, Georgia Bowen of Holly Springs, Dorothy Ingram, Diane Mays, Velma Caradine, Pearlie Bowen, all of Byhalia, Cylie Bowen of Aurora, Ill.; a son, Sammie Bowen of Aurora, Ill.; a sister, Dorothy Oliver of Holly Springs; two brothers, Percy Hampton of San Diego, Calif., Cornell Brooks of Memphis, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley Clutts
Shirley Clutts, 63, of Holly Springs, died June 10, 2013, at the Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. She was born in Memphis, Tenn. She was employed by the Sunbeam Corporation in Holly Springs for a number of years before retirement.
Services were held at 4 p.m. on June 15 at New Hope Baptist Church in Slayden, where she was a member. Bro. Billy Adair officiated, assisted by Bro. Tony Watkins. Burial was in the church cemetery. Piperton office of Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her daughter, Melissa Ann Bryant (Terry) of Red Banks; John Hutchins of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Crisp.
Pallbearers were Cory Sweet, Scotty Hutchins, Stephen Bryant, Dusty Stewart, William Brown and Curtis Willis. Honorary pallbearers included John Crisp.
