Cassie L. Miller
Cassie L. Miller, 86, of Holly Springs, died March 21, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn. He was the widow of Hazel Miller.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Early Grove Cemetery in Michigan City.
He leaves four sons, Johnny Miller of Holly Springs, Jerry Miller of Eldorado, Kan., Charles Miller of Fulton, Kan., Billy Miller of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Shirley Clarkson of Holly Springs, Barbara Pickens of Saltillo, Laverne Miller of Lamar; two brothers, Roderick Miller, Razz Carpenter, both of Michigan City; two sisters, Lois Yeager of Greenwood, Mary Ruth Swords of Ingomar; 31 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Miller, Ben Miller; a daughter, Carolyn Clemment; and three grandchildren.
Jimmy Lee Milsap
Jimmy Lee Milsap, 66, of New Albany, died March 25, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on March 28 at Union Grove MB Church in New Albany. Burial was in Piney Grove Cemetery in New Albany. Rev. Willie B. Sampson, pastor, and elder Don Smith officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves seven children, Bobbie Barry, Dorothy Milsap, both of New Albany, Teresa Marion of Oxford, Sonya Milsap of Shannon, Jerry Milsap, Michael Milsap and Lawrence Milsap, all of New Albany; a brother, Ralph Milsap of Colorado; a sister, Alice Milsap of New Albany; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Phillip W. Stroupe
Phillip W. Stroupe, 86, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died March 23, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army, postmaster general in Dallas, Tx, and a retired political columnist with the Jackson Daily News.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 29 at Christ United Methodist Church. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves a niece who helped care for him, Ann England of Memphis.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
Terry Wilson
Terry Wilson (2-C), 36, of Memphis, died March 16, 2005 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Yarbrough Chapel in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 21 at M.J. Edwards and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Memphis. Burial was in Yarbrough Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Lee Wilson officiated.
He leaves his wife, Rachel Wilson; two sons, Terry Anthony Wilson and Terrell Wilson; his mother, Ms. Willie B. Franklin of Memphis; his grandmother, Ms. Susie Stinson of Holly Springs; eight sisters, Sharson Wilson, Princella Howard, his caregiver, Carla Wilson, Mary Barksdale, Cora Stevenson, Gene Barksdale, Faith and Rebecca; six brothers, Jackie Wilson, Carton Dion Hiler, Chester Barksdale, Brodie Barksdale, Robert Barksdale and Willie James Faulkner.
Peggy Bennett
Peggy Bennett, 59, of Searcy, Ark., formerly of Memphis, Tenn., died March 17, 2005, at her home.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on March 19 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Searcy, with burial in Foster Chapel Church Cemetery. Bro. Johnny Johnson, son-in-law, officiated.
She leaves her husband of 41 years, Gene Bennett; a son, Gene Bennett Jr. of Boston, Mass.; three daughters, Yvette Rand of Gunter, Tx., Dawn Johnson of Tyler, Tx., Shannon Adams of Searcy; a grandson she raised, Vince Ollis of the home; a sister, Linda Jones of Laws Hill; two brothers, Dennis Duke of Memphis, Tenn., Danny Duke of Wynne, Ark.; and 16 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gene Bennett Jr., Clint Rand, Brandon Johnson, Vince Ollis Jr., Blake Johnson, Drew Bennett.
Elizabeth Walters Bobb
Elizabeth Walters Bobb, 89, of Olive Branch, formerly of Vicksburg, died March 15, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of John Cashman Bobb, a Catholic and an Army veteran of World War II.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on March 16 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg. Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Barbara Anne Mullins of Braxton; a son, John Norman Bobb of Olive Branch, formerly of Holly Springs; two sisters, Helen Beatty of Pennsylvania, Irene Wagner of Nevada; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Joe Lewis Brown
Joe Lewis Brown, 64, of Etta, died March 16, 2005 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was a member of Flint Hill Church. He was employed with the Fayette Co. Solid Waste where he was supervisor.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 23 at T.O.M.B. Association Building in Oxford. Burial was in Flint Hill Cemetery in Etta. Rev. Hickinbottom officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Eloise Brown; eight children, Irish Brown, L.G. Brown, Eddie Brown, all of New Albany, Anthony Brown of Oxford, Judy Driver of Oxford, Jennifer Coleman, Tiffany Adams of Etta, Missy Foster of Myrtle; two brothers, C.D. Brown of Louisville, Ky., Willie D. Brown of Oxford; a sister, Mattie Mae Brown Smith of Kankekee, Ill.; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bobby Chatman
Bobby (Bob) Chatman, 54, of Oxford, died March 18, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. He was a retired mechanic and a native of Lafayette County.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 22 at Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building. Burial was in Cypress Grove Cemetery in Oxford. Hodges Funeral Home in Oxford was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Gloria Jean (Barksdale) Chatman, formerly of Holly Springs; two daughters, Barbara Chatman of Oxford, Jacqueline Chatman of Oxford; four sisters, Bessie Flemons of Thaxton, Mary Alice Pegues, Mary Jane Pegues, both of Oxford, Robessie Cornner of Lewisville, Tx.; six brothers, Robert Chatman, Willie Chatman, both of Oxford, Johnnie Price, Louis Chatman, Johnnie Ivy, all of Indianapolis, Ind., Lee Russell Price of Memphis, Tenn.

Thelma Nelson Childers, 86, of Hickory Flat, died March 19, 2005 at Baptist Hospital Union County in New Albany. She was the widow of Earl Childers and a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Flat Rock Cemetery. Bro. William Phillips officiated.
She leaves three sons, Don Childers of Hickory Flat, Tommy Childers of Potts Camp, Jerry Childers of Hickory Flat; eight daughters, Earlene Reed of Hickory Flat, Molly Cranston of Marne, Iowa, Martha Vanzant of Memphis, Tenn., Jane Goode of New Albany, Jo Simpson of New Albany, Sandy Brown of Germantown, Tenn., Neva Sing of Hickory Flat, Debbie Crist of Mandeville, La.; two brothers, Lynn Nelson of Olive Branch, John Nelson of Byhalia; four sisters, Mary Lois Gurley of Potts Camp, Hazel Ferrell of Memphis, Tenn., Sue Seitz of Osceola, Ark., Laverne Provost of Apopka, Fla.; 31 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Childers; a brother, James Nelson, and a sister, Juanita Naquin; two sons-in-law, Bobby Reed, Harold Sing.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
