Maggie Cooke, 86, of Macedonia, died March 11, 2005 at East Jefferson Hospital in Louisiana. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and former owner of Pop’s Hardware in Metairie, La.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on March 16 at Hill Crest Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two sons, Chester G. Cooke III of Metairie, La., Barney Lee Cook of Pearl; a daughter, Patricia Bond of Metairie, La.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Doris Perrine Edwards
Doris Perrine Edwards, 61, of Holly Springs, died March 20, 2005 at Oxford. She was the widow of Cecil Edwards and a Baptist. She worked at Wurlitzer and Maury Manufacturing.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 23 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery.
She leaves two sons, Keith Kimery of Falkner, Timothy Edwards of Holly Springs; a daughter, Carla Edwards Davis of Holly Springs; two sisters, Mary Childers, Josephine Gibson, both of Ashland; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kenny Smith, Terry Childers, David Gibson, Jimmy Kimerly, Roy Davis, Clay Skelton, Burt Bradford.

Edward Fant, 55, of Holly Springs, died March, 4, 2005 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. He was a member of World Overcomers Outreach Ministry Church in Memphis, Tenn., an usher, perfecting school, Apostolic Leadership, equipping training and ministerial. He was also a self-employed building contractor.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 11 at World Overcomers Outreach Ministry Church in Memphis, Tenn. Burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Apostle A.R. Williams officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Evelyn M. Jones-Fant of Holly Springs; a daughter, Natalie Nicole Fant of Nashville, Tenn.; three sons, Prynceston Fant Sr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Edward Fant Jr. of Horn Lake, Tony Fant of Nashville, Tenn.; a stepson, Bobby Wilson Fant of Horn Lake; four sisters, Mamie Ruth Nunally of Holly Springs, Johnnie M. Cochran of Huntsville, Ala., Cora Nash of Cleveland, Miss., Reola Burke of Cleveland, Miss.; three brothers, Oscar Lee Fant of Holly Springs, David Fant of Dallas, Tx., Arthur Fant of Memphis, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Alduth Nunally, Warrick Jones, Sanchez Nash, Charles Wayne Jones, WOOMC ushers. Honorary pallbearers were Oscar Lee Fant, David Fant, Arthur Fant, Bonnie L. Falkner, Norman Burke Jr., Sam Nash.
Ameera Mai Pierini Gaia
Ameera Mai Pierini Gaia, 73, of Olive Branch, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., died March 15, 2005 at her home. She was retired from the IRS after 18 years. She also worked for Memphis Transit Company for 14 years; a communicant of Queen of Peace Catholic, Olive Branch; active in Girl Scouts; coached basketball, softball and soccer. She was a member of St. John Alter Society, active in the community and church volunteer.
Mass services were held at 9 a.m. on March 19 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Olive Branch. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves three daughters, Regina Gail Gaia Hoyt of Holly Springs, Patti Gaia Marshall of Holly Springs, Ameera Celeste Gaia Smith of Emory, Va.; four sisters, Susie Pierini-Hagey of Fla., Dorothy Pierini Moore of Memphis, Patsy Pierini Stanfill of Memphis, Tenn., Camille Pierini Moretta of Memphis; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Methodist Alliance Hospice and Martha’s Manor and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Parthina Phillips Hopkins
Parthina (Tick) Phillips Hopkins, 76, of Holly Springs, died March 3, 2005 at her daughter’s home in Rockford, Ill.; She was a retired cook.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 12 at Union Valley MB Church in Byhalia, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe Richmond officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home in Holly Springs was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Hezekaiha Hopkins of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Martha Hopkins of Rockford, Ill., Shirley (Tean) Sims Peyton of Holly Springs; two sisters, Iola Rayford, Kattie Phillips, both of Byhalia; a brother, Freeman Phillips of Memphis, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Hopkins.
Pallbearers were Jason Hopkins, Jonathan Hopkins, Bryant Hopkins, James Hopkins Jr., Dwyan Phillips, Jerry Lewis Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Johnson, Victor Peyton, Freeman Phillips, Freeman Phillips Jr.
Frances R. Johnston
Frances R. Johnston, 84, of Barton, died March 14, 2005 at Collierville Health and Rehab. She was the widow of R. Harrison Johnston and a retired factory worker from Gem, Inc.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 16 at Barton First Baptist Church. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Collierville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a daughter, Sarah Farley of Barton, a son, Jimmy Johnston of Cayce; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Johnston.

James Edward Jones Sr., 66, of Lamar, died March 12, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in DeSoto. He was the widower of Tempie Lee Jones.
Services were held at 12 noon on March 19 at Concord Baptist Church in Slayden. Burial was in Williams Temple Church Cemetery in Moscow, Tenn. Rev. Clyde Williams, pastor, and Elder Robert L. Williams officiated. Serenity Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Lovie Jean Briggs Jones; five sons, Eddie Jones, Joe Jones, James E. Jones Jr., Carl A. Jones, all of Memphis, Tenn., Vernon L. Briggs of Nashville, Tenn.; six daughters, JoEarline Woods, Brinda Douglass, Benita Jones, all of Memphis, Juanita Jenkings, Angela D. Jones of Slayden, Carol Childs of Orlando, Fla.; five sisters, Dora Morris, Nancy Nunnally of Memphis, Loretta Jones, Gladys Jones, Margaret Murphy of Slayden; 25 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Sandy Jones Jr., Ernest Jones, Oliver Blackmon, John Henry Blackmon; a sister, Ola Mae Jones.

Prentiss Lipsey, 61, of New Albany, died March 14, 2005 at his home.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 19 at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in St. John Cemetery in Oxford.
He leaves a daughter, Pauline Lipsey of New Albany; a son, Bobby Gean Lipsey of New Albany; five brothers, Curtis Lipsey, Barry Lipsey, Matthew Lipsey, all of New Albany, Kenneth Wayne Lipsey of Evanston, Ill., James Lipsey of Champagne, Ill.; two sisters, Geraldine Simpson of New Albany, Sarah Foster of Aurora, Ill; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert Lee Lipsey, Edward Lipsey, Sammie Lee Lipsey, Arthur Lipsey.
