Billy Ratliff

Age: 76
Billy Ratliff of West, 76, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at University Hospital in Lexington.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home in Green wood with burial in Harmony Cemetery in Cruger. President Arthur Keith was the officiating minister.
Mr. Ratliff was born in Leflore County, the son of the late James Allen Ratliff and Mary Nall Ratliff. He spent most of his life in Holmes County. He was a retired farmer, and had been the butcher at Tchula Supermarket for many years. Mr. Ratliff was a U. S. Army veteran, having served with the Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jean Roberts, and two brothers, James Marvin Ratliff and Thomas Wayne Ratliff.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Jones Ratliff of West; two daughters, Beverly Jane Claiburne of Hernando, and Barbara Joan McNeeley of Gulf Shores, Illinois, and Joseph Lee Ratliff of Omaha, Arkansas; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Locke of Green wood; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robert Maxwell, Will Ratliff, Chip Roberts, Thomas McNeeley, James Locke, Jerry Claiburne, Eddie Galey and Jim Locke.
Honorary pallbearers were Dennis Howard Ratliff, Jr. and Danny Ray Ratliff.
Robert Edward McCaa
Died: Saturday, January 21, 2006
Age: 71
Robert E. McCaa, Ph.D., 71, lost his long battle with cancer on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at his home in Flowood surrounded by his family. Memorial service was held January 25 at Broadmoor Baptist Church on Highland Colony Parkway in Madison. Interment was in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Dr. McCaa was born on April 29, 1934 in Green ville, Mississippi College in Chemistry and earned a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Physiological Society, a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors at Tennessee, Lois McCaa Alabama, and Dr. Gayle McCaa Watters of Madison; daughter-in-law Deborah Hudson McCaa of Brandon; sons-in-law, Sam Stewart of Memphis, Bradford of Birmingham, Texas; sisters-in-law Jane Smith of Lexington and Pattie Smith of Grenada, and 13 grandchildren, Connie Nicole, Kellie Coleman, Andrew Hudson and Andrea Marie McCaa of Brandon, Grace Cade and Ellen Coleman Stewart of Memphis, Bradford of Birmingham, Tennessee, Cade Smith of Starkville, and Andrew Paul Smith, III, of Madison.
Honorary pallbearers were Gray Clark, Donald Faulkner, David Holman, Hollis Putnam, Marvin Oxley, Billy Martin, Dr. Bob Lithro, Ken Wallis, Chet Krieger, Bobby McDill, and Dr. Frazier Ward.
Dr. Rob Futral and the Reverend Louis F. Smith officiated at the services and Dr. Frazier Ward delivered a eulogy.
Memorials may be sent to Hederman Cancer Center at Baptist Hospital. The family wishes to acknowledge the exemplary care of Dr. Ralph Vance, Dr. Gerry Ann Houston, and Dr. David Wahl.
Joe Willie Johnson
Died: Friday, January 20, 2006
Funeral services for Joe Willie (Tadpole) Johnson will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, 17594 Yazoo Street, Lexington, on Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Oliver Harris is church pastor. Rev. Robert G. Clark will officiate.
Mr. Johnson passed away on Friday, January 20, 2006 at University Hospital in Jackson. He was the son of Susie Johnson of Lexington.
JOE WILLIE JOHNSON

Age: 55
Joe Willie "Tadpole" Johnson, 55, died on January 20, 2006 at University Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Lexington on Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Clark officiating. Interment was in West Shady Grove Church Cemetery. Porter and Son's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Lexington Attendance Center. He received a Bachelor degree in Political Science from Tougaloo College. He served in the United States Navy, and remained a reserve after he was discharged. He was employed with the Marriot Hotel in Jackson.
Survivors include: mother, Susie Johnson of Lexington; three children, Antwon Johnson and Antonio Johnson, both of Kosciusko, and Tira Johnson of Jackson; two sisters, Mary Redmond of Lexington, and Deloris Johnson-Scott of Yazoo City; two brothers, Wilbur Johnson and Patrick Johnson, both of Lexington; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were members of the LAC Class of 1970.
Honorary pallbearers were Steve Scott, Perry Hicks, Patrick Johnson, and Wilbur Lee Johnson
Donald Edward Barnes
Died: Wednesday, January 18, 2006
Age: 39
Donald Edward Barnes, 39, died at his residence in Durant on Wednesday, January 18, 2006.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, January 21 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Durant with Rev. Matt Brady officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Mr. Barnes was born on October 7, 1966, son of David E. Barnes and Betty Jean Myers Barnes. He was a carpenter with Carpenter Management Company, and a member of First Baptist Church in Durant.
Survivors include his parents; two daughters, Crystal Diane Barnes of Crossett, Arkansas, and Felisha Barnes Bingham of Eupora; brother, Clayton Barnes of Durant; five sisters, Linda Montgomery, Thelma Barnes, and Teresa Barnes, all of Durant, Sandra Moore of West, and Cindy Blankenship of McCarley.
Elizabeth Cain Bishop
Died: Tuesday, January 17, 2006
Age: 81
Elizabeth Cain Bishop of Drew, 81, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility in Ruleville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the Drew United Methodist Church in Drew with Rev. Brad Sartor officiating. Burial followed in Drew Cemetery under the direction of Ray Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bishop was born on June 9, 1924 in Lexington to Jesse W. Byrd and Muzette Huffman Byrd. She married Malcolm C. Bishop on June 20, 1959 in Oxford. She was a member of the Drew United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for forty years and was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm C. Bishop.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Barr and Nancy B. Tidmore, both of Drew; a brother, Walter A. Byrd of Oxford; and three grandchildren.
HARRY REDMOND, SR.
Died: Tuesday, January 17, 2006
Age: 80
Harry L. Redmond, Sr., 80, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2006.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Lebanon M. B. Church in Lexington with Rev. Louis B. Hathorn officiating. Interment was in Ellis Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Redmond was a long time resident of Joliet, Indiana. He was a member of Lebanon M. B. Church where he served on the usher board.
Mr. Redmond was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Jerry) Redmond and Willie Mae Edwards; his brother, Willie Redmond, and a son, Jerry Redmond.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine; son Harry (Wanda) Redmond of Joliet, IL; daughters, Lillie (Percy) Harrison, Katherine (Bobby) Green wood of Carthage, Delores (Raymond) Daniels, Bernice (Demetrous) Betts, Marion Bankston, Gloria Orasco and Regina Redmond, all of Joliet, IL; a step-daughter, Sally Muldrew Hall of Riverside, CA; a step-son, Frank (Lendora) Collins of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Gloria (Rufus) Jackson and Betty (William) Wyatt of Memphis, TN; 35 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: Raymond Daniels, Ernest Green wood, Eugene Heath, Ian Muldrew, Harry Collins, and Jason Heath.
REV. CLARENCE J. SMITH
Died: Saturday, January 14, 2006
Age: 64
Reverend Clarence Jude Smith, son of Darrell and Alta Smith, died at the age of 64 on Saturday, January 14, 2006, at his home in Vancleave, MS. C. J. was born on November 1, 1941, and reared in the midwestern town of Coldwater, Kansas. He pastored numerous churches in Kansas and Mississippi Community College Foundation-Bill Bunch Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o State Board of Community and Junior Colleges, 3825 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211.
J. RAY GRISSETT
Died: Tuesday, January 10, 2006
Age: 74
J. Ray Grissett of Brandon, 74, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Miss. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services were 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 15, at the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with interment in Forrest Memorial Gardens in Petal. Dr. Eugene H. Dobbs, Philadelphia, former Associate Executive Director, Miss. Baptist Convention Board, assisted by Rev. Joe Young, Calvary Chapel of Parchman, SBC, Charleston officiated.
Reverend Grissett was born August 29, 1931, in Mobile, Mississippi Baptist Convention Board in August 1975. He retired in September 1993 as Director of the Cooperative Missions Department. During this time, he served as a liaison between the Mississippi River Delta Ministry and the Parchman Prison Ministry. He loved serving the Lord Jesus Christ through preaching the gospel and missions work.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Pope Ray Grissett, Brandon; daughters, Thelma Jayne Grissett, Hattiesburg, and Michal Theresa Grissett Tincup and husband, Jeffrey William, Arlington, Texas; two step granddaughters; two great grandchildren, and sister, Sylvia Maxine Grissett Sherwood and husband, Don, of Houston, Mississippi Baptist Foundation, MBCB, P. O. Box 530, Jackson, MS 39205, to assist ministerial students.
GLENA BOYLES LYNCH

Age: 69
Glena Jean Boyles Lynch of Lexington, 69, died on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at University Hospital of Holmes County in Lexington.
Graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 11th, at 3 p.m. in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Waynesboro with Rev. Jack Jones officiating. Her grandsons were pallbearers. Southern Funeral Home of Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lynch was born in Wayne County on April 27, 1936, the daughter of Hezekiah Boyles and Bessie Elizabeth Nowell Boyles. She was an escort driver for Country Bumpkins Transport. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Arab, TX, and Elijah Justin Lynch of Arab, Florida; and six grandchildren.
