Callie R. Solomon

Callie R. Solomon was born on March 10, 1930 to the late Issac and Mary Rias. She died on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at her residence. Services were Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Quofaloma M.B. Church in Thornton with burial in Horseshoe Cemetery in Tchula. Rev. Young officiated.
She was a faithful member of Quofaloma M.B. Church where she served on the Mother Board until her health failed.
Mrs. Solomon was married to the late Woody Solomon. To their union nine children were born, two of who preceded her in death, Dora Lee Solomon and Joseph Solomon.
Mrs. Solomon’s memories will be forever cherished by her children: T.L Rias, Haines City, Florida, Henry Solomon and Ethel Lee Solomon both of Yazoo City; four sisters, Annie Ethel Powell, Tchula, Dena Mae Cullock, Dallas, Alabama. Services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2003 at First Baptist Church in Durant with burial in Monte Vista Baptist Cemetery in Webster County. Southern Funeral Home of Durant handled the arrangements.
Mrs. Owen was born and reared in Calhoun County. After graduation from Vardaman High School and Clarke College, she received her BS degree from Mississippi State University. She taught business in the Durant School system for over 31 years. She also taught at Pope, Good Hope and Conehatta. She was named Star Teacher in Durant in 1977.
Mrs. Owen was a member of First Baptist Church of Durant, where she taught the Mamie Clark Sunday School Class for many years.
A resident of Durant since 1960, she lived near her son in Vestavia Hills, Alabama; a sister, Bobbie Ruth Hood Pennington of Byhalia; and two grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were: Joey Hill, Dale McBride, Billy Binegar, Hugh Carl McLellan, Jason Dew, and Bill Bowie.
Faye Sanders Clark Jacks
Died: Wednesday, December 03, 2003
Faye Sanders Clark Jacks of Lexington, 74, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at her residence of heart failure. Graveside services were Friday, November 28, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Green brier Cemetery in Becker. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jacks was the daughter of Thomas Sanders and Mamie Young. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Survivors include: one son, Dr. Mike Clark of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one daughter, Pam Clark Hooker of Lexington; two sisters, Doris Sanders Seals of Shelbyville, Alabama. He was self-employed and the owner of Box Top Software Company. He was a member of the Methodist-Protestant Church.
Survivors include: wife, Susan Fullilove Anton of French Camp; mother, Willye Anton of Lexington; two sons, Travis Ian Anton of Lexington and Neal Anton of French Camp; one daughter, Dell Anton of French Camp; one brother, Richard Neal Anton of Stuart, FL; three half-brothers, Noel Anton and Vincent Anton both of Richmond, VA, and Greg Anton of Nashville, TN; one half sister, Connie Sandman of Richmond, VA.
Active pallbearers were: Alex Cooksey, Rex Cooksey, Max Pepper, Kent Pepper, Battle Noble, and Jimmy Hicks.
Essie McNolia Lewis
Died: Sunday, November 30, 2003
Age: 88
Essie McNolia Lewis of Lexington, 88, died Sunday, November 30, 2003 at the University Hospital Nursing Center in Durant. Services were Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 12:00 noon at Guiding Light Church of God in Christ in Lexington with burial in Green lawn Cemetery. Elder William Dean, Jr. officiated. Porter and Sons’ Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lewis was born to the late Willie and Zola Lewis in Noble Lake, Arkansas. She received her education in the Crittenden County Public School System in Crawfordsville, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Mose Wilson, Jr. in 1933. Her husband, a daughter, Mozella and a son, Charlie preceded her in death.
She moved to Chicago, Tennessee, Deacon Robert L. Wilson of Chicago, Indiana and Elder Eddie L. Wilson of Marion, Arkansas; forty grandchildren; seventy-five great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Deacons and Trustees of St. Paul Church of God in Christ.
Essie McNolia Lewis

Essie McNolia Lewis of Lexington, 88, died Sunday, November 30, 2003 at the University Hospital Nursing Center in Durant. Services were Saturday, December 6, 2003 at 12:00 noon at Guiding Light Church of God in Christ in Lexington with burial in Green lawn Cemetery. Elder William Dean, Jr. officiated. Age: 83
Ann L. Heard of Lexington, 83, died Monday, November 24, 2003 at Lexington Manor Nursing Home. Services were Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Beulah Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with burial in Liberty Chapel Cemetery in Lexington. Rev. Doug Lawson officiated.
Mrs. Heard was born on February 3, 1920 to Robert Hunter and Lillian Herring Hunter. She was a retired garment inspector at Henson Kickernick and a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Mills F. Heard, Jr. of Lexington; three daughters, Lynda Heard Matthews of Madison, Barbara Heard McBride of Tchula, and Mary Heard Killebrew of Lexing-ton; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 5 step great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were: Tim Joiner, Kenny Joiner, Kevin Killebrew, Chris Killebrew, Bryan Killebrew, Mills Heard, III, and Jay McBride.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Beulah Baptist Church.

Age: 94
Mary Lou Burkett of Jackson, 94, died Sunday, November 23, 2003 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 25 in Roseland Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home of Jackson was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burkett is survived by her sister, Kate Chapman Albin of Goodman; three nieces, Linda Multer of Vicksburg, Mary Kathryn Young of Brandon, and Cynthia Harvey of Macon; three nephews, James E. Albin of Goodman, David Chapman of South Carolina
VIVIAN LOREE KILLEBREW
Died: Sunday, June 18, 2006
Age: 79
Vivian Loree Killebrew, 79, of Biloxi, MS went to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 18, 2006.
Mrs. Killebrew was born August 8, 1926 to Thomas L. and Ruby Earl Simpson in Goodman, MS. After traveling around the world as the wife of an Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, she settled in Biloxi where she served as a school secretary at Beauvoir Elementary while she pursued her Bachelors and Masters degree in elementary education. She taught at Beauvoir for seventeen years before her retirement in 1990. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Biloxi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Fred Simpson, and three sisters, Lucille Burrell, Lavell Blackstock and Mildred McCrory.
Mrs. Killebrew is survived by her husband of 60 years, William O. Killebrew of Biloxi; three sons, Nolan Craig Killebrew and wife, Soo of El Paso, TX, Ronald Wayne Killebrew and wife, Hwa Cha of Seoul, Korea, and William Murray Killebrew of Biloxi; one daughter, Gloria Ann Phillips and husband, Richie of Hoover, AL; two brothers, Roscoe Simpson of Durant, MS; Willie "Little Buddy" Simpson of Sallis, MS and six grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Biloxi. Interment followed at Biloxi National Cemetery.

ANNIE LOYD PEACOCK
Annie Loyd Peacock, 88, of the Acona Community passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006 at Lexington Manor nursing home in Lexington.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at Acona Methodist Church with Bro. Ricky Reece and Bro. Rick Shepherd officiating. Burial was in the Acona Methodist Cemetery.
Ms. Peacock, the daughter of the late W. B. Peacock and Annie Loyd Lee Peacock, was born in Holmes County on May 10, 1918. She was a member of the Acona Methodist Church.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Willie Mae Johnson Anderson

Funeral services for Willie Mae Johnson Anderson were held Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul C.O.G.I.C. in Lexington. Burial was in Green lawn Cemetery in Lexington with Supt. William Dean, Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Anderson, 73, died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
She was born on January 1, 1933 in Lexington to the late Annie Lee Moore and Charlie Johnson. She was educated at Pine Grove and Mount Olive Schools. She was a seamstress and a caregiver. Mrs. Anderson was an active member of St. Paul C.O.G.I.C. where she was a member of the Hospitality Club, and was a cook in the Lexington District Meeting.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Anderson, and a son, Charles.
Survivors include her three daughters, Bertha (Tommy) Wright of Chicago, IL, Jessie Mae Anderson of Lexington, MS, and Barbara (Carl) Randle of Chicago, IL; one son, Jesse Anderson of Chicago, IL; four brothers, Ray (Anna) Johnson of Olympia Field, IL, James (Catherine) Benson of Chicago, IL; Leslie (Everlena) Benson of Lexington, MS and Tony (Ruby) Benson of Joliet, IL; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
