Charles Robert Hines

Charles Robert Hines, 77, of Durant died Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Preston Hines and Bessie May Allen, was a crane operator for Diamond “M” Drilling Co. He was a World War II Army veteran and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Durant. His brothers, Ernest and Roy and sister Tommie Walley preceded Mr. Hines in death.
Survivors include: wife, Dorothy B. Hines of Durant; one son, Charles E. Hines of Jackson; three daughters, Edith Weaver of Houma, Nebraska. Rev. Adam L. Burton officiated. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha.
Mr. Bowman was raised in Tchula, the son of the late Willie Bowman and Blanche Bowman.
He moved to Omaha as a young adult and in 1968 moved to Gary, Indi-ana where he worked in a steel mill. He also did concrete masonry work.
Survivors include: his wife of 33 years, Luretha Bowman of Omaha, NE; daughters, Yolanda Bowman-Brown of Omaha, NE, Deirdra Almodovar of Gary, IN, Tasha Bowman of Omaha, NE, Clevetta Bowman of Omaha, NE, and an adopted daughter, Deborah Mills of Gary, IN; sons, Cleveland, Samuel and Andrew, all of Omaha, NE; brothers Rev. Andrew Bowman of Denver, CO, Rev. Alvester Bowman of Memphis, TN and Arnold Bowman of Dolton, IL; sisters Hattie Collins of Omaha, NE and Cilva Bowman of Tchula; and 12 grandchildren.
Evie Rias
Died: Friday, June 20, 2003
Age: 83
Evie Rias, 83, of Blackhawk died June 20, 2003 at Green wood Leflore Hospital from renal failure. Services were Saturday, June 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Union A.M.E. Church near Lexington with burial in Union A.M.E. Cemetery. Elder Leslie Benson officiated.
Mrs. Rias was a longtime resident of the Blackhawk Community where she was very active. She was a member of Steel Chapel Church until her health failed. She was a housewife and farmer.
Survivors include: two daughters, Dr. Mattie Rias of Lexington and Martha Jones of Chicago, Tennessee and Lloyd Burrell of Camden; an aunt, Myrtis Carroll of Vicksburg, who raised him; and 5 grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were: Donald Walls, Paul Fowler, Bill Devine, Paul Devine, Randle Walls, and Johnny Hart.
Shirley Patricia Barrick Brown
Died: Friday, June 20, 2003
Age: 67
Shirley Patricia Barrick Brown, 67, of Lexington died Friday, June 20, 2003 at her residence. Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Lexington. Rev. Andy Cline officiated
Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Dude Barrick and Rose Lee Dial and was born in Arkansas. She was a housewife.
Survivors include: five daughters, Darla Rix of Blackstone, Virginia, Carol Lowe, Christina Farmer of Lexington, Debbie Juan of Knoxville, Oklahoma; two brothers, M.L. Barrick and Elsie Barrick; and twelve grandchildren.
Grady Harold Eakin
Died: Wednesday, May 05, 2004
Age: 69
Grady Harold Eakin of Sidon, 69, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at Green wood Leflore Hospital.
Services were Saturday, May 8 at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with burial in Coxburg Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Riley Ainsworth and Rev. Don Newton officiated.
Mr. Eakin was born in Attala County to Alton Eakin and Myrtle Burchfield Eakin. He was a retired chief engineer for Magnolia Marine Transport and an Army veteran. He was a member of Sidon Methodist Church.
Survivors include: wife, Helen Spell Eakin of Sidon; one son, Grady Dewayne Eakin of Yazoo City; one daughter, Myra Dawn Lucas of Carrollton; three sisters, Mary Ann Johnson of Sidon, Marvis Maxine Bolton of Houston, Texas; one brother, Luther Edward Eakin of Annopolis, Tennessee, Randi Miller and her husband Jeffrey of Sum-ter, S.C., Daniel Parrish, Drew Parrish and Megan Parrish; one great-grandchild, Emma Grace Miller; sisters, Christine Adams of North Richland Hills, Louisiana.

Mamie Lee Foster
Died: Sunday, May 02, 2004
Age: 72
Mamie Lee Foster of Lexington, 72, died Sunday, May 2, 2004 at St. Dominic Health Services in Jackson. She died of congestive heart failure.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lexington with burial in Georgeville Cemetery. Quentin Williams officiated. Final services and arrangements were entrusted to Porter and Sons’ Funeral Home in Lexington.
Mrs. Foster was born on May 12, 1931 to the late Chorial R. Prather and Anthony Robinson. She was married to Willie L. Foster in September, 1947. Her husband, one daughter, Barbara F. Landfair, and one brother, Lloyd Prince, preceded her in death. She was a member of the Lexington Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include: six daughters, Vivian Gordon, Josette Mississippi Medical Center’s Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
