Bobbie McDonald Moore of Memphis, Tennessee since 1978. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Clifton McDonald and Annie Sue Lofton McDonald; brothers, Roy, George, and Sonny McDonald; and sister, Wardine Tindoll.

Survivors include: daughter, Cindy Mills of Collierville, Tennessee; brother, Sam McDonald of Haughton, Tennessee and Irene Wade of Cruger; and 4 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Wesley Highland Towers Choir Fund, 400 S. Highland St., Memphis, TN 38111.

Henry Lee Burns
Died: Friday, June 18, 2004
Age: 49

Henry Lee Burns of Lexington, 49, passed away on June 18, 2004, at University Hospital in Lexington. Funeral services were Saturday, June 26 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Lexington with Rev. Dan E. March officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Cemetery.

He was born on July 17, 1954. His daughter Sabrina preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, Timothy Wilson, and his grandchildren, Deandra Wilson and Timothy Wilson, Jr.

Henry also leaves to mourn, a father George Burns, Jr., of Lexington; a mother, Maxine Henson Chester of PA; two brothers, George Burns and Michael Burns, both of Alexandria, LA; eight sisters, Betty Jordan of Chicago, IL; Rose Tate of Green ville; Louretha Smith of Durant; Muriel Burns of Columbus; Patricia Williams of Starkville; Carolyn Lampkin of Receda, CA; Melissa Sherrod and Cassandra Burns of Starkville.

Active pallbearers included Jessie Jordan, Herbert Andrews, George Harris, Willie Beverly, Leon Beverly and Levon Andrews. Honorary pallbearers included Jimmy Sherrod, Marlon Burns, Llewellyn Tate, Charles Dixon, Channon Dixon, Sammie Smith, Jr., Llewllyn Tate, II, and Cleatonia Burns.

Willie Scott
Died: Friday, June 18, 2004
Age: 62

Willie Scott of Lexington, 62, a farmer, died Friday, June 18, 2004.

Services were Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. Century Hairston Funeral Home of Lexington handled the arrangements.

Boyette Stevens Parkinson, Jr.
Died: Thursday, June 17, 2004
Age: 73

Boyette Stevens Parkinson, Jr., of Durant, 73, a farmer/cattleman, died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at his home.

Services were Saturday, June 19 at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant with burial in Mizpah Cemetery.

He was born February 21, 1931, to the late Boyette and Maggie Parkinson. Mr. Parkinson was an army veteran and served in the Korean conflict for which he received a Purple Heart for bravery. After his return from Korea he attended Holmes Junior College and Tennessee, Joanie Parkinson of Biloxi and Jane Smith of Lexington; one brother, Roy Parkinson of Gulfport; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice in His Hands, 317 W. North St., Kosciusko, MS 39090.

Patsy Thornton
Died: Wednesday, June 16, 2004

Patsy Thornton, 70, of Brandon died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Funeral services Friday, June 18 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl with burial in Damascus Cemetery in Brookhaven. Pastor Bill Divine and Rev. Daniel Blaylock conducted the services.

Mrs. Thornton was a native of Franklin County but has been a resident of Brandon, moving there from Florence. She was a member of Florence Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Thornton retired from St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Oliver "Buddy" Thornton preceded her in death.

Survivors are her sons, Billy Guy Thornton of Anderson, Mo., Charles "Skeeter" Thornton of Durant, James "Bay" Thornton of Florence and Raymond Thornton of Brandon; daughters, Virginia Kay Inabnitt of Angie, La., and Annie Overby of Brandon; brothers, Albert Smith of Sanford, Fla., and Richard Smith of Cleveland, Tenn.; sisters, Ann Corban of Pearl and Nell Fisher of Ridgeland; 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Earnest Cook
Died: Tuesday, June 15, 2004
Age: 101

Funeral services for Earnest Cook, Sr., 101, were held Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Joseph McChriston officiated, assisted by Rev. Major Sheard, III. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Pickens.

Mr. Cook passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at his daughter's home in Pickens.

He is survived by one daughter, Bobbie Malone; 6 sons, James, Jimmy Lee, George Willie, Estell, Jerry B., and Fred Earl; 62 grandchildren, 149 great-grandchildren; and 102 great-great grandchildren.

Martha Jo Mansker Jackson
Died: Monday, June 14, 2004

Martha Jo Mansker Jackson of Cruger, 63, died Monday, June 14, 2004 at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Services were Thursday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with burial in Garden of Memories in Winona. Bro. Donald Leach officiated.

Mrs. Jackson was born on August 2, 1940 to W.E. Mansker and Lynn Howard Mansker in Montgomery County. She was a retired merchant and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include: husband, Bubba Jackson of Cruger; one son, Al Jackson of Cruger; one daughter, Brenda Mayo of Grenada; sister, Scottie Mansker of Grenada and one grandson.

Pallbearers were: Bro. Don Rowe, Bro. Dale Blakley, Elder Pettingill, Elder Hobley, John Boyer, and Bro. Donald Leach.

Mary Lee McLellan
Died: Sunday, June 13, 2004
Age: 82

Mary Lee McLellan of Lexington, 82, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Neshoba General Hospital.

Services were held Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.

Mrs. McLellan was born to James H. Harthcock and Willie Malone Harthcock on May 22, 1922 in Holmes County. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Lexington.

Survivors include: one son, Billy McLellan of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren.

Lila Welch of West, 90, died Monday, May 31, 2004 at Green wood Leflore Hospital in Green wood.

Services were Wednesday, June 2 at 2 p.m. at the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant with burial in County Line Cemetery in West. Rev. Gerald Welch officiated.

Mrs. Welch was born September 8, 1913 in Attala County to Joe Cummins and Mary E. Passins Cummins. She was a cashier at Welch's Store. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Annie Welch Gant and Beverly Welch Gant, both of West; four brothers, Joe Cummins, James Cummins, and Mitchell Cummins, all of Grenada and Herman Cummins of Elliott; 15 grand-children; 21 great-grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were: Tim Ables, Tim Gant, Joe Gant, Gerald Gant, Larry Cole, and Dennis Champion.

Honorary pallbearers were: Garry Caldwell and Ronnie Phillips.

Billie Ruth McLellan Holditch
Died: Wednesday, May 26, 2004
Age: 79

Billie Ruth McLellan Holditch of Ripley, 79, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Magnolia Place in New Albany.

Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27 at the First Baptist Church in Ripley with burial in Tippah Memorial Gardens. Dr. Albert Wilkerson assisted by Bro. Tom Young officiated.

She was the retired owner of Billie's Dress Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ripley.

Mrs. Holditch was preceded in death by her parents, Ivey and Eunice Ellington McLellan; sisters, Rachel McCarver, Mary Ryan and Annie Miller; and two brothers, Marvin McLellan and James McLellan.

Survivors include: her husband, John D. Holditch of Ripley; sons, Alan Holditch of Brandon and Rob Holditch of Ripley; sisters Betty Jo Jones of Dyersburg, North Carolina and Reedy McLellan of Durant; 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Melvin S Worthey
Died: Tuesday, May 25, 2004
Age: 95

Melvin S. Worthey of Madison, 95, died Tuesday, May 25 at St. Catherine's Village in Madison.

Services were Thursday, May 27 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Pickens with burial in Quiet Ridge Cemetery in Pickens. Rev. George B. Butler and Rev. Skipper Maxwell officiated.

Mrs. Worthey was born September 3, 1908 in Madison County to Emmette C. Simpson and Bertha Floyd Simpson. She was a teacher and a member of Pickens United Methodist Church.

Survivors include 12 nieces and nephews.
