Mrs. Josephine McKie Davis, 86, died Sunday, September 18, 2005, at Heritage House in Brandon. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, at the Pickens First United Methodist Church. Breeland Funeral Home of Canton was in charge of arrangements.
A native of Akron, Florida; daughters, Hardye Burkhardt of Pickens, Phoebe Ashcraft of Madison, and Martha Goff of Ft. Myers, Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 5834 Hwy. 17, Goodman, MS, with viewing times commencing before the service at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be rendered by Westhaven Funeral Home, 3580 Robinson Road, Jackson, MS, where public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 22 and Friday, September 23.
Mrs. Malone is survived by her husband, Ralph Malone; four daughters, Nikki Levy-Hunter, Shantell Levy, Christie Levy and Salisha Jordan; her mother, Mrs. Mary Ann Parks; 7 sisters, 6 brothers and 5 grandchildren.
Charlie Sinclair
Died: Wednesday, September 14, 2005
Age: 76
Dr. Charlie Sinclair, DDS, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. Dr. Sinclair was born July 14, 1929 in D'Lo, MS.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 16 at 10 a.m. from First United Methodist Church in Lexington. Officiating ministers were Rev. Gene Asbury, Rev. Cecil Jones, and Rev. Skipper Maxwell. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
He served in the Army and the Navy during the Korean Conflict. After graduation from Delta State College, he attended the University of Mississippi Federated Women's Club.
A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Rhett and Ann Presley of Pickens; her daughter, Daphne Presley of Scottsdale, Alabama; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were: John Rhett Presley, Brandon Martin, Bobby Frazier, Marvin Presley, Ronnie Murtagh, and Scott Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Katrina Hurricane Relief organizations, such as the Salvation Army and Red Cross.
Howard H. Carey
Died: Sunday, September 04, 2005
Age: 68
Dr. Howard H. Carey, 68, of San Diego, California, San Diego; Morehouse College Alumni Association; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity; Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and its Alpha Pi Boule; and National Association of Black Social Workers.
Dr. Carey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in San Diego where he served for many years as a member of the board of trustees and treasurer.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Arnold Carey; a daughter, Melba; son, Rodney; five grandchildren; his mother, Lillian D. Carey; his brothers and sister, Sam, Roland, and Gladys
Richard Halford
Died: Wednesday, August 31, 2005
Age: 59
Funeral services for Richard Halford, 59, were held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant. Burial was in Harmonia Cemetery in Sallis. Bro. Matt Brady, Rev. Dave Westerfield and Rev. Thomas Wicker were the officiating ministers.
Mr. Halford died on August 26, 2005 at Hospice In His Hands in Durant.
He was born June 23, 1946 in Natchez to Willie Mae Havard Halford and the late Alton Halford.
He was a Security Supervisor at First Baptist Church in Jackson, where he was also a church member. He was a member of the Louisiana died Monday, August 29, 2005 at DeRidder Retirement and Rehab Center.
Graveside service was held Friday, September 2, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington, Louisiana; three daughters, Diana Monahan of Dallas, Vermont, and Charlene Stevenson of Ellsinore, Mississippi as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck by an automobile, recently.
A memorial service was held Monday, August 29, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Oregon Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey was born on February 14, 1931 in Lexington to the late Floyd Dewey Bailey and Keety Herring Bailey. He was a custom designer with Georgia.
Survivors include: a son, Robert Clayton Bailey, Jr., of Raymond; a daughter, Laurie Lee Bailey of Raymond; and a sister, Martha Margaret Bailey Rice of Tanner, Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Graveside service was held Saturday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Madison County. Bro. Matt Brady was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were his nephews.
Mr. Crapps, 79, was born August 13, 1926 in Attala County, a son of the late William and Viola Jenkins Crapps. He was a maintenance operator for the The Laundry Mat. Mr. Crapps was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Bailey Crapps of Durant; two brothers, John Wesley Crapps of Morton, and James Kelly Crapps of Jackson; and a sister, Nell Sturgeon of Natchez.
