Rev. Lavay Crawley
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at Vardaman Street Baptist Church for the Rev. Lavay Crawley, 63, of Wiggins, who died Nov. 11 in Laurel.
Interment was in the Wiggins Cemetery.
A resident of Wiggins, he was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Seminary, former pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Purvis and Vardaman Street Baptist Church in Wiggins and interim pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church in Seminary.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Crawley of Wiggins; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Daura Crawley of Wiggins; a daughter and son-in-law, D’Shea and Dr. Bobby Burn of Wiggins; five grandchildren, Caleb, Madelyn, Tymber and Ashlyn Crawley and Jonathan Burn; his mother, Mylie Crawley of Columbia; and a sister, Naomi Ramshur of Columbia.
Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins was in charge of arrangements.
Margaret Ann Spiers
Funeral services were scheduled to be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home for Margaret Ann Spiers, 73, of Prentiss, who died Saturday, Nov. 8, at Prentiss Regional Care Facility.
Interment was to be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with Kenneth Jackson officiating.
A native of Mayersville, she was a home maker and a member of Collins Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Thornhill and Hazel Deruron, and two brothers, Robert T. McDonald and W.S. Fortenberry.
Survivors include four daughters, Robin Crawley of Prentiss, Clara McDonald of Hattiesburg, Elaine Lutz of Boise, Idaho, and Debbie Cooper of Columbia; two sons, Carroll Smith of Canton and Charles Spiers of Natchez; two brothers, Jerry Fortenberry of Pearl and Austin Fortenberry of Dallas, Carter officiated.
A native of Texas, she was a florist and a member of Edna Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Howell, and a brother.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara “Bobbie” Loveless of Albuquerque, N.M., Peggy Harris of Columbia and Jerry Lynn Tinerella of Chesterfield, Va.; three sisters, Dorothy Byrne, Lucille Powell and Wanda Pittman, all of Columbia; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia was in charge of arrangements.
Lucy Tynes
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home for Lucy Tynes, 92, of Kokomo, who died Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Interment was in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother Willie Martin officiated.
Music was provided by Jennifer Thornton and Larry Lott.
Born in Marion County on Feb. 2, 1911, her parents were William Manson and Gena Holmes. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Kokomo Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Tynes.
Survivors include a son, Glen Dale Tynes of Kokomo; a brother, Manson Holmes Jr. of Kokomo; two grandsons, Cale Tynes and Garrett Tynes, both of Kokomo; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Tynes and Deanna Tynes.
Pallbearers were Jerry Bullock, Jim Hathorn, Doug Holmes, David Scarborough, Cale Tynes and Garrett Tynes.
Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia was in charge of arrangements.
Bob B. Carson
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 14, 2003 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home for Bob B. Carson, 82, of Colmbia, who died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at his residence.
Interment was in the Green s Creek Cemetery. Douglas Laird officiated.
A native of Monticello, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Rogers Lumber Co. and was a member of Green s Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sons, David Carson and Marty Carson, and two brothers, Frank Carson and Dub Carson.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Carson of Columbia; a son, Kenny Carson of Columbia; a sister, Exer McNeese of Carson; four brothers, John Carson of El Paso, Texas, and Jerry Fortenberry of Pearl; nieces and nephews.
