Rebecca Duke Grove
Rebecca Duke Grove of Clinton, 85, died Nov. 15 at the Willow Creek Nursing Home.
Funeral service were at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Clinton. Graveside services were in Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home of Clinton handled arrangements.
Mrs. Grove was the daughter of the late W. M. Duke Sr. and Nell Rowan Duke of Hattiesburg. She was a graduate of Duke University in Durham, N.C. A former longtime resident of Hattiesburg, Mrs. Grove had lived in Clinton since 1971.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Duke Fike and brother, W.M. Duke Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Harold Franklin Grove Sr. of Clinton; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Basile and Helen Grove Pepper; two sons, Harold Franklin Grove Jr., and Michael Rowan Grove; and nine grandchildren.
The family asks that a gift be made in Mrs. Grove's memory to the Building Fund at Holy Savior Catholic Church, P.O. Box 85, Clinton, Miss. 39060.
James Harold Graves
James Harold Graves of Canton, 80, died Nov. 17 at the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Jackson.
Services were Nov. 20 at Culpepper Funeral Home in Canton with burial in Canton City Cemetery.
Mr. Graves was born in Covington County, a son of the late Luther M. and Mary Bell Smith Graves. He was a retired truck driver, a member of Center Terrace Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Jo Poole Graves of Canton; daughter, Betty Vance King and husband Paul King of Canton; brother, Luther Graves of Canton; and grandson, Reid Vance of Clinton.
Julia H. Prevost
Julia H. Prevost of Utica, 85, died Nov. 18 at Central Mississippi Medical Center. Services were Nov. 23 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Hamil was born Feb. 11, 1962, in Jackson, the son of Jack W. Hamil and Dorothy Holliday Hamil. Emmett graduated from Wingfield High School in 1980 and attended sheet metal school. He was employed by Fountain Construction, where he served as a sheet metal mechanic for 16 years.
He was a member of the Sheet Metal Worker's International Union No. 406 and was a mason, holding membership at Pearl Lodge 23. An avid sports fan, Emmett enjoyed professional and follege football and watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Jarrett. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack W. Hamil.
He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include: wife, Lanell Hamil of Jackson; daughter, Leigh Ann Hamil of Byram; son, Douglas O. Hamil of Byram; daughter, Lindsey Hamil of Jackson; stepson, Josh Blackwell of Jackson; stepdaughter, Jennifer Foreman of Clinton; mother, Dorothy Holliday Hamil of Jackson; sister, Mary Kay Hamil of Jackson; brother, Ralph S. Hamil of Jackson and many aunts, uncles, and other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Services were Dec. 4 at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson with burial in Taylor Cemetery in Flora.
Peoples Funeral Home in Jackson handled arrangements.
Dora G. Durr
Dora Griffin Durr of Forest, 95, passed away Nov. 28 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Dec. 1 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with burial in High Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Durr was born and raised in Neshoba County, and had lived in Forest since 1946. She had been a resident of Riggs Manor in Raymond since 1998. She was a longtime member of Forest Baptist church and was active in many areas of ministry in her church.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Scott County Home Demonstration Clubs. She was a retired cosmetologist and worked for many years in the Scott County tax assessor and collector's office.
She was a talented seamstress and cook, was accomplished in all areas of handiwork, an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing, especially with her grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and friends and spent countless hours sharing her time and talents with them.
She challenged her children with Proverbs 3:6, "In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."
Mrs. Durr was predeceased by her husband, William Atley Durr, former tax assessor and collector of Scott County, and three brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her son, Bill Durr and his wife Donna of Raymond; daughter, Janis Clark and husband Mike of Jackson; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Lee Walton of Jonesboro, Ark., formerly of Union.

David Herod
David Herod of Clinton, 30, died Nov. 28 at home.
Graveside services were in Oak Grove Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Attala County with the Rev. Donald Self officiating and Jordan Funeral Home of Kosciusko handling arrangements.
Mr. Herod is survived by his mother, Faye Souligny of Clinton; father, Arnold Herod of Sallis; and stepfather, Paul Souligny, and stepbrother, Matt Souligny, both of Clinton.
Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital, 2500 N. State St. Jackson, Miss. 39216.
Aline B. Wise
"Jimmie" Aline Bagwell Wise of Clinton, 75, passed away of natural causes Nov. 29 at Trinity Missions Nursing Home in Clinton.
Services were at Lakewood Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Officiating at services were the Rev. Byron Yawn and her nephew, the Rev. Harold Scott.
Mrs. Wise was born in Webster County in 1921. Her parents were the late James Henry Bagwell and Mississippi State Veteran's Home where he lived up until his death.
She leaves behind her children: one son, Jimmy Wise and his wife Beverly of Pontotoc; daughter, Linda Wise Crain and her husband Mike of Raymond; brother, Bill Bagwell of Mobile, Ala.; and her greatest treasure, her grandchildren, Rhett Wise, Scott Wise, Reagan Wise, Josh Wise, Christi Crain Oswalt and Kelli Crain Slay and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Rhett Wise, Scott Wise, Reagan Wise, Josh Wise, Edward Oswalt and Scott Slay.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the may caregivers at Trinity Mission and Hospice Ministries for all the love and kindness shown to their mother during her illness.
Myrtle F. Milner
Myrtle F. Milner of Morton, 85, homemaker, died Dec.1 at Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Services were at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Graveside services were in Pinecrest Cemetery in Tchula.
Mr. Gant was preceded in death by his parents, Bilbo and Irene Farish Gant; brothers, Bill Andrew Gant and Hubert Lewis Gant; and his beloved grandsons, Marshall Shane Gant Jr. and Michael Bradley Gant.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Gant of Jackson; daughter, Teresa (Katie) Thomas and husband Danny of Brandon; sons James E. Gant Jr. of Clinton, Marty W. Gant and wife Tammy of Brandon and Marshall Shane Gant Sr. of Pearl; sister, Arty Oakes of Tchula; brothers, John Gant of Laporte, Price
Cora Lee Price was born Nov. 28, 1908, in Janesville, Wis., the daughter of Clarence Palmer and Cora Bertha Griffith Beers. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Beloit College in California in 1933, and earned a doctorate in English literature with a minor in classics in 1940 at Stanford University.
Mrs. Calif. She later taught English and Latin at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa., and at Kansas University and later became a full-time teacher in the KU classics department. She was president of Lawrence Music Club and helped establish Lawrence Civic Choir. She served in Janesville and Lawrence as a church organist.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sigma Alpha Iota and Zodiac literary society. She taught English for a semester at Baker University after retiring from Kansas University in 1979 at age 70. She was inducted in 2003 into the KU Women's Hall of Fame.
Her husband established the Cora Lee Beers Price on June 18, 1940, in Beloit, Wis., He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Griffith B. Washington, D.C.; five daughters, Cora Lee Kluge, Madison, Wis., Lucy Jean Price Eisert, both of Lawrence, Kan., S. Diane Price Burgert, Wichita, Kan.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home.
Dr. Bobby L. Shelby Sr.
Dr. B. L. Shelby Sr. of Clinton, 84, minister, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 30 at Central Parker and husband Selby of Clinton, Ashlee Flynt and husband Bobby of Purvis; great-grandchildren, Logan Parker and Kaylee Flynt; special aunt, Virginia Smith of Vimville; special cousins, Lynda Barkley of Vimville and Shirley Davis of Pensacola, Fla.; sister-in-law, Judi Kramer and husband Jack of Madison; a number of nieces and nephews.
