Herbert F. McPhail Sr.
Herbert Felton McPhail of Edwards, 62, died Dec.10 at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Services were held Dec. 13 at Hinds Independent Methodist Church with burial in Reeves Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. McPhail was a retired Instructor with Hinds Community College with 32 years service. He was a Master Mason with the Goodman Masonic Lodge No. 489. He was a member of Hinds Independent Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Lynn Dilmore and husband Darryl of Clinton, and Leigh Lawler and husband Tony of Clinton; two sons, Mac McPhail of Richland, and Quint McPhail of Terry; grandchildren, Charleigh McPhail, Lamar McPhail, Tyler McPhail, Skylar McPhail, Jessica, Caleb and Joshua Dilmore, Andrew and April Lawler; brothers, Charles Ray McPhail, his twin Hubert McPhail, and Herman McPhail; sisters, Lucille Bodie, Addie Mae Holloway, Janelle Briggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lora Etta Hudson
Lora Etta Hudson of Clinton, 66, died Dec. 14 at Central Texas, Mr. Jones had lived in the Richland area for three years moving there from Pearl.
Mr. Jones earned his law degree and spent his life in industrial security and law enforcement and was owner and president of Jackson Patrol Service. A veteran of the Air Force and Coast Guard, his lifelong priority was his family.
He is survived by his daughters: Deborah Kornegay and Kathy McLendon, both of Richland; son: Donald R. Jones Jr. of Richland; grandchildren: Dawn Frazier of Florence, Kellie Daniels of Mississippi Baptist Hospital in 1952. She dedicated her life and career to helping others. She firmly believed and followed the vows she took when she entered the nursing profession. In 1960, she was promoted to director of nursing service and served the hospital in that position until 1970. She respected and honored both the nurses and employees she represented, and in turn was respected by all that knew her.
During the construction of the new Baptist Medical Center, she served as vice chairman of the Hospital Employee's Division for the Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Diabetes Foundation.
David Ellis Morris
Lt. Col. David Ellis Morris of Jackson, 86, died Dec 30, 2004, at Mississippi State University at Starkville. He retired from the Roadway Design Division, Mississippi National Guard.
Active in community and church, Mr. Morris was Past Master of Forest Hill Lodge No. 613, a member of Wahabi Temple, York Rite and the Scottish Rite Fraternal Orders. He was a longtime active member of Riverside Independent Methodist Church, was elected to various leadership positions, and more recently joined Hinds Independent Methodist Church in Raymond.
A passionate horseman, Mr. Morris was Master of Foxhounds for the Whitworth Hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fay Morris, formerly of Clinton, now living in Jackson; his sons, Walter Morris and his wife, Cheryl of Florence and David E. Morris, Jr.; his brother, John Morris; and his three granddaughters, Angie and her husband, James, Heather and Sheri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Shriners Cripple Childrens Hospital-Wahabi Temple in Jackson, MS.
Gertrude M. Albriton
Gertrude M. Albriton of Jackson, 85, died Jan. 6 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Services were Jan. 8 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Albriton was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton and secretary-treasurer of the Ruth-Faith Sunday School Class. She was associated with Albriton's Jewelers for 32 years.
She was preceded in death by husbands C.P. Carroll Jr., and John L. Albriton, Sr. and sister Margaret E. Harper.
Survivors include son, Ronnie Carroll and wife Betty of Madison; grandchildren, Ron Carroll Jr. and wife Susanne of Madison, Jon Carroll and wife Vicki of Madison, Brad Carroll and wife Allison of Madison, and Kim Kelly and husband Chad of Madison; eight great-grandchildren; stepson, John Albriton Jr. and wife Posey of Jackson; and step-grandchildren, John Albriton III and Jan Allinder, both of Jackson.
Pallbearers were Ron Carroll Jr., Jon Carroll, Brad Carroll, Neal Carroll, Blake Carroll and Smiley Ratcliff.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, Miss 39157.
Elizabeth C. Bunyard
Elizabeth Christine Bunyard of Jackson, 78, died Jan. 6 at her home. Services were Jan. 10 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jacksonwith burial in Canton Cemetery.
A native of Flora, she had lived in Jackson for 25 years. Prior to that, she had lived in Canton.
Mrs. Bunyard was a retired employee, having worked for Packard Electric for 15-1/2 years. She was a member of Center Terrace Baptist Church in Canton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton Bunyard; her son, Roger Bunyard; and her brother, David Moulder.
Mrs. Bunyard is survived by her sons, Gene Bunyard and wife, Kathy of Forest, John Bunyard and wife, Shirley of Canton, Paul Bunyard and wife, Dorlean or Terry; sisters, Martha Whitehead of Canton, Jane Hawthorne of Jackson, Barbara Doan of Clinton, Alma Jean Rollins of Selma, Ala., Nell Welch of Pearl; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
