William A. Wade
Clinton
William A. Wade, 61, died April 8 at his home.
Services were April 10 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Concord Cemetery.
Mr. Wade was native of Rankin County and has lived in Clinton for the past 11 years, moving from Pelahatchie. He was Baptist. He worked as a carpenter all his life and was employed by Foshee Construction Co.
He was a graduate of Pelahatchie High School where he excelled in basketball and track. He broke many scoring records in basketball and also broke records in jumping hurdles. Some of his records still hold today. After high school, he attended Hinds Junior College where he led his team in scoring and rebounding.
Survivors include his wife, Janell Wade of Clinton; mother, Lee Merle Wade of Morton; daughters, Linda Nelson of Gulfport, Paula Page of Pearl, Donnes Brown of Foley, Ala., and Dana Morris of Brandon; sons, Shannon Beaver of Madison, Dwayne "Red" Wooten of Byram and Drew Wooten of Foley, Ala.; brother, Jerry Wade of Brandon; and 13 grandchildren.
W. "Marcus" Whigham
Clinton
On Saturday, April 9, we said an earthly goodbye to our husband, father and grandfather, William "Marcus" Whigham, 79.
Funeral services were held May 11 at Lakewood Funeral Home with interment following at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Whigham was born May 24, 1925, in Pascagoula. He lived most of his life in Jackson and the last 20 years he resided in Clinton.
Mr. Whigham worked for the United Gas Pipeline and retired from the Mississippi Employment Security Commission.
Mr. Williams was a longtime communicant of St. Columb's Church where he was a licensed lay reader. He was an avid golfer, biker and community volunteer. He volunteered regularly for University Hospital, the IONA House ministry at St. Columb's and the Clinton public schools, where he tutored students in math and algebra.
He was also known throughout his neighborhood for his dedication to recycling. Even in death, nothing went to waste. He is an anatomical gift donor, whose body will be used to further the advancement of science and medicine; his corneas will be used to give others the gift of sight.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Cecily; daughters, Leigh M. Williams of Clinton and Laurie Williams Brown of Florence; two grandchildren, Dalton and Trevor; brother, Charles Williams Sr. of St. Louis, Mo.; and nephews Charles Williams Jr. of Madison and Christopher Williams of Richland.

Carey Alan Craft
Green ville
Carey Alan Craft, 52, died April 9 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Green ville.
Graveside services were held April 11in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson. Boone-Wells Funeral Home of Green ville handled arrangements.
Mr. Craft was born July 24, 1952, in Indianola and attended school in Jackson, Brookhaven, Indianola, and graduated from high school in Senatobia. He also attended Northwest Community College. He and his parents moved to Green ville in 1977, and he is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Green ville. Carey was very interested in sports, county music and current events.
He is survived by his father, John Rimmer Craft, and mother, Janice Barnett Craft of Green ville; sister, Cindy Craft Massey of Tunica; brothers, Michael Craft of Jackson and Jim Craft of Senatobia; two nephews, Lee Veazey of Senatobia and Hunter Craft of Shreveport; niece, Meredith Craft of Shreveport; and aunt, Diane Barnett Boyt of Clinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942, or the donor's favorite charity.
Wilton Chisolm
Union
Wilton Chisolm, 95, died April 18 at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home in Union. Services were April 21 at County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. Barron Pilgrim and the Rev. Robin Risher officiating. Burial was in Green land Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home of Union in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Chisolm was a member of County Line Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Versie, and a son, Willie Chisolm.
Survivors include: son, Billy Chisolm and wife Sue of Flora; daughter-in-law, Dot Chisolm of Clinton; five grandchildren, Dale Chisolm and wife Betty Ann of Clinton, Ricky Chisolm and wife Kim of Clinton, Allen Chisolm and wife Leah of Clinton, Wanza Chisolm Anderson and husband Robert of Birmingham, Ala., and Diann Chisolm Robinson and husband Roy of Madison; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Janie Langham of Union; and brother, Barney Chisolm of Pensacola, Fla. Also survived by special friend and neighbor, Mae Carby.
Pallbearers included Dale Chisolm, Ricky Chisolm, Allen Chisolm, Wanza Chisolm Anderson and husband Robert, and Diann Chisolm Robinson and husband Roy. '
Myrtle Nunley Curtis
Iuka
Myrtle Nunley Curtis, 75, formerly of Clinton, died April 18 at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka. Services were April 20 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
She was a member of the Iuka Baptist Church. She retired from Texas 7523.
Ira Mildred Brister
Jackson
Mrs. Ira (Mildred) Brister, 83, passed away April 20 at Hospice Ministries Inc. in Ridgeland. Services were April 22 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Brister was a native of Johnston Station (Lincoln County) and a longtime resident of Jackson. She was a member of Parkhill Baptist Church and Van Winkle Baptist Church, where she was very active in church.
Mrs. Brister was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and her husband, Ira M. Brister.
Survivors include her sons Monty Brister of Canton and Richard Brister of Hattiesburg; grandsons, Trey Brister of Clinton, Steven Brister of Victoria, Jon Brister of Hattiesburg; granddaughter, Lindsey Brister of Hattiesburg; sisters, Audrey Wallace of Summit, Annabelle Acaley of McComb, Hilda Mason of Magnolia; and sister-in-laws, Lorena Newman, Irva Brister, Ava Carol Albritton and Geneva Albritton.
Susie Faye H. Peden
Jackson
Susie Faye Hudson Peden, 70, a homemaker, died April 19 at her home. Services were April 22 in the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton with burial at Bethel Cemetery.
Mrs. Peden was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Lincoln County, the daughter of the late Herman Lee Hudson and Clara Gertrude Bland Hudson, and moved to Jackson at a very young age.
Mrs. Peden worked at the GE plant on U.S. 80, Stainless Steel of America in Flora and the Mississippi Medical Center. Services were April 25 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Ms. Carson was born March 14, 1947, in Mississippi at age 12. She graduated from Clinton High School and continued her education graduating from the University of Mississippi Army National Guard and was stationed at Camp Shelby, where she served in a MASH unit caring for Vietnam veterans. Ms. Carson retired from Methodist Hospital, now CMMC, where she served as a LPN.
After retirement she accepted a position at Sprint Mart on U.S. 80 in Jackson. She was a member of Westhaven Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday school.
Ms. Carson was an avid member of Cowboys for Christ. She enjoyed studying about different Indian lifestyles and loved Indian arts and crafts. Ms. Carson enjoyed music, county, blue grass and ballads, particularly Mozart. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and caring for animals.
Survivors include: Son, Charles L. Moore Jr. and his wife, Delonda (Dee) of Richland; son, David S. Oregon; granddaughters, Krista Metcalf of Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eddie 'Bud' Crawford
Magee
Eddie Urshen Crawford, 63, died April 22 at Magee General Hospital.
Graveside services were April 24 at New Hebron Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Boswell Regional Center in Magee. Saulters-Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss handled arrangements.
He was born Nov. 5, 1941. He was the son of James Eddie and Leatha Ann Sullivan Crawford.
Mr. Crawford is survived by his sisters, Mary Merrell of New Hebron, Christine Cook of Brandon, Margie McMorris of New Hebron and Carolyn Rains of Brandon; and his brothers, Arthur Crawford of Clinton, Frank Crawford of New Hebron, Cliff Crawford of Clinton and Mitch Crawford of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ottis Crawford of New Hebron.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Friends of Boswell, Boswell Regional Center, P.O. Box 128, Magee, Miss. 39111.
Pete Frierson
Clinton
Pete H. Frierson, 84, went to be with his Lord April 25 at Florida where he graduated in 1942. He went on to serve his country as captain in the Infantry division of the U.S. Army.
He married the love of his life, Lucretia, on May 8, 1942. and spent the next 62 years in Mississippi.
Mr. Frierson had many interests: he was a past president of Amateur Field Trial Clubs of America, served on the Board of Trustees, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was passionate about education and was a strong supporter of schools including Mississippi 4-H Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Lucretia Texas; granddaughter, Stacie Salter Brown and her husband Johnny of Brandon; and his great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Katie, Sophie, Kellar and Hayden, who loved their Papaw dearly.
Pete Frierson: Faithful man of God, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, inspiring leader, adored by his family and respected by all who were blessed to have known him.
We will dearly miss you, but know that Heaven is rejoicing upon your arrival.
