MARY E. LANGSTON
NEWHEBRON
Mary Easterling Langston, 93, died Jan. 13 in Jackson under the care of Providence Hospice.
Services were Jan. 17 at Saulters-Moore Funeral Home in Prentiss with burial in the Newhebron Cemetery.
She was born in 1913 in Covington County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Van Easterling, and grew up in Clem.
She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in the Grange community where they lived. She loved seeing and visiting with her friends and neighbors and being with her family.
She was a member of Newhebron Baptist Church, the women's Sunday school class and the Newhebron Garden Club.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patty Estes and husband Jack of Madison; one son, D.T. "Sonny" Langston III of Newhebron; grandchildren, Bill Estes of Madison, Mary Estes of Madison, Lisa Langston Self of Pearl, Tal Langston and wife Rosalind of Clinton; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dewitt T. Langston Jr. of Newhebron; her sister, Lois Bozeman of Bassfield; and brothers, T.J. Easterling of Clem and Ray Easterling of Pascagoula.
NETTIE LOU C. PONDER
PUCKETT
Nettie Lou Corley Ponder, 90, died Jan. 21 at her home.
Services were Jan. 23 at Puckett Baptist Church with burial in County Line Cemetery in Mendenhall.
Pallbearers were Michael Tillson, David Tillson, Brad Calhoun, Thomas Ralph Calhoun, Cliff Johnson, Michael Means, Jason Ivey and John Kilpatrick.
Honorary pallbearers were Rufus Vanderford, Robert Means, Ken Thompson, Sam Roberts, Andy Algee, Will Massey, Billie Wright, Bid Owens and Jake Aucoin. Officiating was the Rev. Grant McElveen.
Mrs. Nettie was a longtime resident of Rankin County. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Willis Chapter No. 350, and Puckett Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Winkler (Herman) of Brandon and Sandra Calhoun (Prentiss) of Puckett; sister, Mary Helen James (Raymond) of Highland, Mississippi-ESTARL, or the Puckett Baptist Church Brick Walkway.
HELEN SASSER
CLINTON
Helen Sasser 90, died Jan. 15 at Central Mississippi Medical Center.
Her body has been donated to science at the University of Mississippi College. She taught at Forest Hill School until Van Winkle was built. She moved there, staying more than 20 years, to teach sixth grade and later serving as principal.
She was a past member of Leavell Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. She was surrounded by family as she passed away peacefully following a brief illness.
Services were Jan. 12 at First Baptist Church in Richland with burial in Kennedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee.
She was born and reared in Magee, where she married her husband, Sammie, on Christmas Eve 1951, and then moved to Richland. Doris was a loving, giving person and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by parents, Willie Olyer and Earline Henderson Moseley; daughters, Peggy Lynn Craft and Prudie Dianne Craft; grandchild, Heath Ray Craft; brother, Claude Moseley; and son-in-law, Raymond Rushing.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Sammie R. Craft; sons, David Craft and wife Patty of Star, Robert Craft and wife Tina of Richland, Doug Craft and wife Shannon of Florence; daughter, Janice Rushing Benson and husband Tommy of Clinton; grandchildren, Phil Morgan, Heather Edmonson, Brandie Gilder, Wendy Craddock, Josh Rushing, Landon Craft, Isaac and Kaylee Craft, Colton, Cortlin, Carson and Cannon Mae Craft and Risha Holmes; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Ray Moseley of Magee, Charles Moseley of Florence; and sisters, Maxine Hodge and Linda Womack, both of Mendenhall, Elaine Garner of Magee and Delaine Farrar of Jackson.
RANDALL L. DAVIS
BENTON
Randall L. Davis, 61, died Jan. 9 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services were Jan. 11 at Midway Baptist Church in Yazoo County with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by wife Brenda W. Davis of Benton; daughter, Melissa and husband Mike Sumerlin of Atlanta; son, Scott and wife Kim Davis of Millbrook, Ala.; daughter, Leigh and husband Brantley Johnson of Starkville; three brothers, Wallace Davis of Yazoo City, Wayne Davis of Bentonia and Mac Davis of Clinton; sister, Frances Eldridge of Lakeland, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Quint Carver, Rusty Odum, Greg Davis, Keith Waters, Roger Davis, Dewey Hood, Les Waters Jr., Marlin Stubblefield and Brooks Griffin. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmie Wayne Pettis, Bruce Burton, the deacons of Midway Baptist, employees of Malouf Construction and Over the Hill Hunting Club members.

ELIZABETH ASKEW GASTON
TULSA, OKLA.
Elizabeth Askew Gaston, 82, went to be with the Lord Jan. 5 in Tulsa.
Services were Jan. 8 at First United Methodist Church of Tulsa with burial in Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Okla.
Elizabeth was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Madison Heights, Va., to the Rev. Dr. David Leon Askew and Brittie May Stump Askew. She married John R. "Buddy" Gaston Jr. on Feb. 21, 1954.
Elizabeth taught kindergarten at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton. She was a longtime leader in Bible study fellowship and served as chaplain of P.E.O. Chapter CD in Waco, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
