Died: Wednesday, February 7, 2001
Graveside services for Clay Douglas Tucker, 66, of 11 Benny Circle, Tunica, were held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Tucker, , a truck driver, died Feb. 7 at his home. He had served in the Air Force.
Mr. Tucker is survived by two sisters, Judy McElhaney of Hernando, Miss. and Bette Frances Powell of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Jerry D. Tucker of Austin, Texas.
John Franklin "Frank" Lee, Jr.
Died: Sunday, August 26, 2001
John Franklin "Frank" Lee, Jr., 59, of Memphis, TN died August 26, 2001 at his home. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29 at the West TN Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Lee was a truck driver with Teamsters Local 984 and served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife Paula Lee; two daughters, Sherry Pugh of Southaven, MS and Tami Anderson of Walls, MS, and a stepdaughter Carolyn Glaze of Memphis, TN; three stepsons, Bobby Barlow of Bartlett, TN, Billy Barlow of Hot Springs, AR, and Johnny Barlow of Oxford, MS; three sisters, Sherry Pugh and Sandra Kelso, and Geraldine Wheeler, all of Southaven; and 7 grandchildren.
The family requests that any memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Sarah J. Rowland
Died: Sunday, August 19, 2001
Graveside services for Sarah J. Rowland, 80, of Helena, Arkansas, were held at 3 p.m. today (Thursday), August 23, 2001 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena, AR, with the Rev. Rodger Hooker officiating. Rowland, a retired licensed practical nurse, died August 19 in Helena Regional Medical Center.
She was a Tunica native, the daughter of Ernest Love and Nelle Coker Alexander. She is survived by her brother Ernest Campbell Alexander of Tunica; one sister, Delia A. Harthcock of Newton, Miss.; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Jack Verner
Died: Monday, August 6, 2001
Services for Mr. Jack Verner, 89, of Tunica will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2001, at Lane Chapel CME Church in Tunica, with burial in Lane Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Verner, a retired farmer, died August 6 at his home. He was a steward at Lane Chapel CME Church. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Selma S. Verner of Tunica; three daughters, Dorothy Baldwin of Detroit, Missouri, and Kathleen Backus of San Diego, New York, and Curtis Verner and Jack Verner, both of St. Louis; two sisters, Otye Smith of Flint, Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gulfport at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.

Lee 'Butch' Wood
Died: Sunday, July 29, 2001
Services for Lee "Butch" Wood, 58, of Lake Cormorant, Miss. were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens in Pontotoc, Miss. Rev. Ed Norris officiated at the services.
Mr. Wood, a retired farm manager, died July 29 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven, Miss. He is survived by his wife Marianne Wood of Lake Cormorant; his father Thurman Wood, also of Lake Cormorant; two daughters, Kim Northcut and Carry Martin, both of Horn Lake, Miss.; and one brother, Glen Wood of Pontotoc, Miss.
Pallbearers were Raymond Montgomery of Olive Branch, Miss., Bannie Ramage of Walls, Miss., John Copper of South Carolina; one sister, Aline Nelson of Bartlett, Tenn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Jimmie Carlton Frazier
Died: Sunday, July 22, 2001
Jimmie Carlton Frazier, 60, a Crenshaw, Miss. farm manager, died Sunday, July 22, 2001 at Batesville Hospital in Batesville.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on July 24 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Tunica, with burial in Truslow Cemetery in Sarah, Miss. Rev. Danny Smith officiated at the services.
Mr. Frazier is survived by two sons, Jimmy Frazier of Crenshaw and Timothy Frazier of Strayhorn, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Louis Stepp, Jimmy Tillman, Daniel Sexton, and Eric Stewart, all of Strayhorn; Terry Tillman and Bubba Hernandez, both of Askew, Miss.; Michael Miles of Tunica; and Bill Polan of Longtown, Miss.

Mrs. Mable Watson Latham
Died: Wednesday, July 18, 2001
Graveside services for Mrs. Mable Watson Latham, 88, were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at Oakwood Cemetery in Tunica, Rev. Danny Smith officiating at the services.
Mrs. Latham, retired as owner of Latham's clothing store in Tunica, died July 18 at McKendrick Village Nursing Home in Nashville, Tenn. She came to Tunica in 1932 as the bride of "Rip" Latham and worked actively as a member of Tunica First Baptist Church. She was also Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Latham is survived by a daughter, Mary Sue Johnson of Antioch, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Mr. Otis B. "Rip" Latham, also of Tunica.
Pallbearers were Tommy Tucker, Ken Whittington, Mike Hill, Richard Fullilove, James Pegram, and Stewart Woods, all of Tunica. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Rushton, Jack Wilkes, Mike Boren, Clarence Cariker and Ted Emanuel.

Mrs. Emma Lou Bass Ryker

Services for Mrs. Emma Lou Bass Ryker, 91, of Biloxi, Miss. were held on Thursday, July 12, at 3:30 p.m. at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home in Biloxi, with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Gulfport, Miss.
Mrs. Ryker, a teacher, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001 in Biloxi. Although a resident of Biloxi for 20 years, Mrs. Ryker had lived with her husband and two daughters in Tunica, Clarksdale, Senatobia and Natchez, teaching English, science, nurse's nutrition, art, and home economics at a number of Florida; one brother, C.W. Erwin of Duncan, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Vera Irene Aven
Died: Sunday, February 4, 2001
Mrs. Vera Irene Aven, 98, of Memphis, Tenn., died February 4, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She was a homemaker.
Services were held on Tues., Feb. 6 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Doug Hardin officiated at the services.
Mrs. Aven is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alpha Underwood and Mrs. Mattie Gilles, both of Cordova, Tenn.; one brother, Evert Barlow of Tula, Miss.; three sisters, Eura Mississippi Delta Levee Board, died Feb. 3 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. He was a veteran of the Army in World War II. He is survived by his wife Alice Laurene Mills Stewart; a stepson, Jerry Hern of Tunica; one sister, Polly Huddleston of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Archie Stewart of Memphis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Leo Frazier
Died: Thursday, February 1, 2001
Services for Leo Frazier, 70, of Sarah, Miss., formerly of Tunica, were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2001, at C.O. Pate Funeral Home in Senatobia, Miss., with burial in Truslow Cemetery in Sarah.
Mr. Frazier, who was retired from Chromcraft Furniture, Inc., died February 1 at his home. He was a member of Truslow Methodist Church and a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Frazier of Sarah, Miss.; two sons, Robert L. Frazier of Southaven, Miss. and Andy Pete Frazier of Horn Lake, Miss.; one sister, Deatrice Holliday of Tunica; three grandchildren;and two great-grandchildren.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the Truslow Cemetery Fund.

Roger Thomas Fuller
Services for Roger Thomas Fuller, 54, of Tunica were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2001 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Tunica, with burial in Longtown Cemetery near Crenshaw, Miss. Rev. Roy Hartzell of Sledge, Miss. officiated at the services.
Mr. Fuller, a farmer, died of accidental drowning on January 22. He is survived by his wife Pearl Dykes Fuller of Darling, Miss.; one son, Robert Thomas Fuller of Sledge; two daughters, Brenda Childers of Crenshaw and Jeanette Ann Fuller of Sledge; three brothers, A.D. Fuller of Tunica, Jimmy Fuller of Clarksdale, Miss., and Tommy Fuller of Hernando, Miss.; two sisters, Betty Joe Fuller and Rosie Fuller, both of Tunica; and one grandchild.
