Ima Smith Peoples
Ima Smith Peoples, 84, died April 14 at University Medical Center in Jackson after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery with Wilcox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A native of Roseland, LA, she was a member of Carthage First Baptist Church, Carthage Culture Club and a charter member of the Thursday Club. She attended Carthage High School, Blue Mountain College and TX, and Carl Peoples, Carthage; two daughters, Kay Peoples Freeny, Carthage, and Amy Peoples Wood, Pass Christian; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Waggoner, Flowood, Dot Holaday, Brandon, and Emily Moore, Kosciusko; and four grandsons. Pallbearers were Dr. Howard Holaday, Anthony Freeny, Dr. Charles Wood, Dick Peoples, David Peoples, Keith Peoples, Jackie Mann, Bob Thorton, Wayne Moore, Joe Waggoner and Zeb Henson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jared Peoples, Joshua Peoples, Guy Wood and Morey Wood.
Jack K. Wolverton
Jack K. Wolverton, 77, a pharmacist, died Monday at his family residence.
Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carthage First Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Carthage Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wilcox Funeral Home.
A native of Leake County, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Carthage First Baptist Church, a graduate of the University of Price Roberts
Kathy Marie Price and Steven Roberts, both of Philadelphia, 13 grandchildren; father, Glendale Moore, Carthage; mother, Mildred Moore, Philadelphia; five sisters, Wanda Barrett, Joyce Barnett, Rhonda Buchanan and Brenda Dianne Osterloh, all of Philadelphia, and Carolyn Belk, Carthage; and one brother, Roger Moore, Franklin, LA.
Pallbearers were Dean Belk, Jon Belk, Robert Rogers, Davy Moore, Chris Belk, Earl Ferguson, Jr. Dawson and Hugh Belk.
Ina Louise Adcock
Ina Louise Adcock, 96, of Carthage, died April 15 at Texas.
Myrtle Clotel Watkins
Myrtle Clotel Watkins, 95, of Houston, died Thursday at Floy Dyer Manor.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Tom Brooks officiating. Burial was in Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Wilcox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A native of Leake County, she was of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith.
Survivors include two sons, Hubert Watkins and Doug Watkins, both of Houston; one daughter, Josephine Babb, Houston; 15 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Travis Sanders, Billy Watkins, Robert Watkins, Danny Watkins, Leon Burgess, Brooks Watkins and John Coleman.
Reba Lynn Johnson
Reba Lynn Johnson, 51, of Carthage, died April 17 at University Medical Center, Jackson.
Services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastopol, with Rev. Barbara Taylor officiating.
Burial was in the Lake Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Johnson, Carthage; one daughter, Shannon Mowles, Modesto, CA; one son, Gary Mowles, Eugene, OR; five grandchildren; her mother, Maxine Lindley, Harrison, CA; four sisters and one brother.
Pallbearers were Mark Ware, Matt Ware, Dustin Gibbs, Thomas Everett, Teddy Stokes and Timmy Leppard.
