Mr. Goode was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was born December 4, 1915 in Tupelo, MS to R. V. Goode and Mildred Hendrix, both of OH in 1945 to serve in the military.
Funeral services were held February 21, 2004, at Stricklin-King Chapel in Yazoo City, MS, with burial in Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. Charles H. Anderson officiated. Stricklin-King Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Survivors include, one son, Carl L. Goode, Jr. of Mineral Ridge, OH and Sheila Wishart of Gainesville, FL; one sister, Louise Shannon of Yazoo City, MS; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 6 step grandchildren; and Celoie Outlaw McMinn.
JANIE LUCILLE ROBERTSON
Belzoni, MS - Janie Lucille (Lucy) Robertson, 78, a homemaker, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004.
Funeral services were held February 21, 2004, at First United Pentecostal Church in Belzoni with burial in Green crest Memorial Gardens. Officiating ministers were James Campbell, Charles Thornton and Will Massey. Mortimer Funeral Home of Belzoni handled arrangements.
Mrs. Robertson was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Belzoni. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Kelly Robertson, Sr., her mother, Janie P. Brown, and her brother, William (Bill) Merrell.
Survivors include, one son, Tom (Sedgene) K. Robertson of Belzoni; one sister, Margaret Harkins of Yazoo City, MS; six grandchildren, Eden Robertson and her fiancé, Charles Edwards, Kade Robertson, Seth Robertson, Bree Robertson, Evan Tom Robertson, and Dara Robertson, all of Belzoni; and many nieces and nephews.

SADIE MAE COATS
Belzoni, MS - Sadie Mae Coats, 70, died February 19, 2004, at Methodist University of Memphis, TN.
Funeral services are today, February 25, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at New Hope MB Church in Belzoni. Rev. Burl Holmes will officiate. Byas Funeral Home of Indianola, MS, is handling arrangements.
Survivors include, two daughters, Mamie Robinson and Lenora Stevenson, both of Belzoni; four sons, Larry Coats of Isola, MS, Jasper Coats and George Coats, Jr., both of Belzoni, and Jimmy Coats of Jackson, MS; and a host of grand and great grandchildren.
DOROTHY WEAVER TRIPPE
Kosciusko, MS - Dorothy Weaver Trippe, 95, a retired teacher, died February 22, 2004 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for tomorrow, February 26, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Jerusalem Baptist Church with burial in Bethel Ind. Methodist Church Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home of Kosciusko, MS is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Trippe was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Trippe.
Survivors include, a daughter, Kathryn Kusak of Wenatchee, WA; a son, James Leland Trippe of Birmingham, AL; a granddaughter, Martha Ward of French Camp, MS; a sister, Betty Thornton of West, MS; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

FAYE HELENA CROTWELL
Yazoo City, MS - Faye Helena Crotwell, 62, a retired seamstress with Jockey International, died February 22, 2004, of heart failure, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City, MS.
Funeral services were held February 24, 2004, at Stricklin-King Chapel in Yazoo City, MS, with burial in Straight Bayou Cemetery in Sharkey County. Rev. Darrell Covington officiated. Stricklin-King Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Ms. Crotwell was born May 17, 1941 in Moorhead, MS to Miller Leonard Crotwell and Myrtle Marie McCoy. She was a member of Straight Bayou Baptist Church.
Survivors include, two brothers, Freddie Crotwell of Yazoo City, MS and Ted Crotwell of Vicksburg, MS.
Pallbearers were Teddy Crotwell, Allen Osborne, Gene Hodnett, Bill Byrd, Jason Watts, and Dewitt Hodnett.
MORRIS GRIFFIN
Belzoni, MS - Morris Griffin, 72, a contractor/carpenter, died April 13, 2005, of leukemia, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
Funeral services were held April 16, 2005, at Humphreys County High School Auditorium in Belzoni, with burial in Deovelente Cemetery. Rev. Henderson Field, pastor of Shiloh (Deovelente) M. B. Church, officiated. Smith Funeral Home of Belzoni handled arrangements.
Mr. Griffin grew up in a small community called Deovelente (meaning God willing). At an early age, he became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a man of God and loved his family and church. He was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, church treasurer and served in multiple roles in his church. He was a model husband, father, grandfather, brother, advisor, and true friend to his family and community. He lived a life befitting of the scripture “A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one’s birth” (Ecc. 7:1).
Survivors include, his wife, Annie Grace Griffin of Belzoni; two sons, Jeffrey Griffin of Gretna, LA, and Maurice Griffin of Arlington, TX, Millicent Griffin-Jacobs of Marietta, GA, Erlexia Abby of Colleyville, TX; three sisters, Doris Reed and Clarissa Harris, both of Belzoni, and Ecola Thimes of St. Louis, MO; and nine grandchildren.
MOSES ELDER, SR.
Belzoni, MS - Moses Elder, Sr., 88, a farmer/delivery man, died April 17, 2005, of heart failure, at his home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at Goodwill M. B. Church in Belzoni with burial in Humphreys County Memorial Garden. Visitation at Smith Funeral Home Chapel will be held Friday, April 22, 2005, 12 noon - 5:00 p.m. The body will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Goodwill M. B. Church. Rev. Earl Reed will officiate. Smith Funeral Home of Belzoni is handling arrangements.
Survivors include, his wife, Minnie Elder of Belzoni; three sons, Clifton Elder of Tuscaloosa, AL, Marvin Elder of Indianola, MS, and Gregory Elder of Green wood, MS; two daughters, Bobby J. Pearson of Roulett, Iowa City, Bradford McAllester Stewart, and his wife, Varner Hines Stewart, of Starkville, MS; grandson, Brady Stewart, and wife Kathryn, of Madison, MS; granddaughter, Sara Parks Martin, and husband, Josh, of Cleveland, MS; granddaughter, Susanna Stewart of Oxford, MS; and great grandchildren, Ben and Meg Martin, and Ford Stewart.
Pallbearers were Rob Hines, Thomas Hines, Eddie Sory, Bryan Jones, Clark Pittman, Bob Cato, Griffin Norquist, Jr., and Bob Bailey.

WILLIAM FRANKLIN "BILL" DARNELL
DARNELL, William Franklin "Bill" - of Nashville, TN, age 67, died Dec. 12, 2005 at his home. Mr. Darnell, a former resident of Belzoni, was a coach at Belzoni High School. He played baseball for the University of Mississippi public schools. He was in sales for Jackson, MS, based MISSCO from 1974 and in 1985 was named Vice President of Contract Sales. Mr. Darnell was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. He was a lifetime member of the Ole Miss M Club and the University's Alumni Assoc. He was a long-time member of Ro-tary International, was a Paul Harris Fellow, and served as President of the clubs in Senatobia, MS, and Donelson-Hermitage, TN. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lin Kel-sey Darnell, Nashville; daughter, Mary Kelsey Akins (Alan) of Smyrna, TN; two grandchildren, Amanda Lee Akins and Corey Alan Akins, both of Smyrna; two broth-ers, Richard Hamlin Darnell of Edmond, Ok.; and David Stephen Darnell of Memphis, TN. Services were held Dec. 15 at Donelson Presbyterian Church, with inter-ment at Magnolia Cemetery, Col-lierville, TN. VIVIAN S. STRANGE
Louise, MS - Vivian S. Strange, 57, a homemaker, died January 2, 2006, of heart failure, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City, MS.
Graveside services are today, January 4, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., at Cypress Gardens Cemetery in Yazoo City, MS. Rev. Kerry Burrough will officiate. Stricklin-King Funeral Home of Yazoo City is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Strange was born November 17, 1948, in Humphreys County, to Duey and Corine Steed. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Louise, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Strange.
Survivors include, two daughters, Tami McDonald of Louise, MS, and Angela Heffner of Brandon, MS; a grandson, Colby Heffner; and her mother, Corine Steed of Louise, MS.
JOHN WOO, JR.
John Woo, Jr. (Feb. 22, 1938 � May 22, 2008), 70, of Huntsville passed away May 22, 2008. He was the owner and president of Gamma Research Inc.
He is survived by his wife, June Woo; sons, John Woo III and Daniel Woo; daughter, Julie Woo Smith; brother, Brian Woo; sisters, Mary Lee Hunt, Ruby Chen, Nancy Soo Hoo and Elisa Yee; and four grandchildren, John Woo IV, Anthony Woo, Riley Smith and Andrew Smith.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Twickenham Funeral Home East with burial in Twickenham Memory Gardens. Rev. Steven Fang officiated.
NINA HEAFNER ELARDO
Belzoni, MS � Nina Heafner Elardo, 94, former owner of Elardo Cash Grocery in Midnight, MS, died June 2, 2008, at the Humphreys County Nursing Facility in Belzoni.
Funeral services are today, June 4, 2007, at 1:30 p.m., at Mortimer Funeral Home Chapel in Belzoni with burial in Oddfellows Cemetery in Green wood, MS. Visitation will precede the funeral from 12:30 � 1:30 at the funeral home. Dr. Billy McKay will officiate. Mortimer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Elardo was a member of Silver City Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Elardo; sisters, Annie Maude Heafner and Lilyan Marie Crauley, and her brother, Harold E. Heafner.
Survivors include daughters, Mona Yelton of Clinton, MS, Charlene Ducrest of Brandon, MS, and Rose Marie Seguin of Caswell Beach, NC; half sister, Doris Hodges of Whitehaven, MS; half brothers, H. L. Heafner, Jr. of Orlando, FL, Henry Heafner of Batesville, MS, Sid Heafner of Hot Springs, AR, and Tommy Heafner of Batesville, MS; 5 granddaughters, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
