Edith M. Spang
Edith Morris Spang, 96, of LaBelle, Fla., and formerly of McComb, died Sept. 11, 2000, at Sun City Retirement Residence in Sun City Center, Fla.
Her ashes are interred in the Morris family plot in Atlanta, with the National Cremation Society of Fort Myers, Fla., in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Spang was born Nov. 3, 1903, in Atlanta. She was the daughter of Charles Morris and Alice Berta Morris of Atlanta.
She was a homemaker and an an active member of Episcopal Church of the Mediator until her husband’s retirement to LaBelle in 1968. She moved to McComb from New Orleans in 1941, and was a life member of the Junior Auxiliary and the Flower Lovers Club, both of McComb.
Mrs. Spang was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Spang Sr., formerly of McComb; and two brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Rhoda Spang of LaBelle; four grandchildren, Dorothy Anderson of Minneapolis, Henry Spang III of Vancouver, Wash., Elizabeth Still of Fort Myers, Fla., and Edith Spang of Los Angeles; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local hospice care.
Josephine Guidry
Josephine Guidry of McComb died Oct. 3, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi. He was the son of the late Daniel Pamplin Harvey and Bessie Jane Crawford Harvey.
He was a retired railroad engineer with Price of Vicksburg; and one great-great-nephew, Tyler Joseph Louisiana, 9418 Brookline Ave., Suite C, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
Stephen L. Laird
Stephen L. Laird, 50, of Chatawa, died May 4, 2000, at Beacham Memorial Hospital in Magnolia.
Hartman Funeral Home of McComb Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Private services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Laird was born Aug. 9, 1949, in Monahans, Texas; one brother, David A. Laird of Metairie; and a sister, Deborah Ermon of Metairie.
Elzie Wood
Elzie Wood of Tylertown died May 8, 2000, at his residence.

Roma M. Wittenburg
Roma Clyde Madden Wittenburg, 94, of McComb, died April 23, 2000, at her residence.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in McComb, with James Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Monaghan Cemetery in Tylertown. Catchings Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wittenburg was born Jan. 14, 1906, in Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Owen M. Rawls
Owen Moak Rawls, 83, of Bogue Chitto, died of heart failure April 22, 2000, at Southwest Texas, and Winston “Pete” Rawls and Gale “Cooter” Rawls, both of Bogue Chitto; two daughters, Linda Bond of Purvis and Elizabeth Dyer of Raymond; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Margaret VanNorman
Margaret VanNorman, 92, of Liberty, died April 23, 2000, at Southwest Texas; several nieces and nephews; and long standing friend and sister-in-law, Maggie Cannon Thomas of Roxie.
Katie M. Watts
Katie Mae Martin Watts, 99, of Pride, La., died of heart failure April 20, 2000, at her residence.
Services were 3 p.m. Saturday at Harrigill Funeral Home in Brookhaven. Elder Wayne Myers and Elder Melvin Myers officiated. Burial was at Alderman Cemetery in Lincoln County.
Mrs. Watts was born Feb. 19, 1901, in Jefferson County. She was the daughter of John Carroll Martin and Pernecie E. Tarver Martin.
She was a homemaker and a charter member of Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La., where she was the oldest member of the church.
Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claude P. Watts.
Survivors include two sons, Clifton Watts of Prairieville, La., and Carroll Watts of Arlington, Parker Sr.
John Rhodes “Jack” Parker was born April 4, 1925, in Smithdale. He was the son of Bud Parker was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Diane Parker; one brother, Wellie Parker; and one sister, Clara Belle Godwin.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Carrol Naul of Nashville, Tenn.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Lee Ferrington of Baton Rouge, La., John “Jackie” Parker of Brusly, La.; and three grandchildren, Alexa Ferrington, Cody Parker and Anna Katherine Parker.
Pallbearers are Bart Jones, Greg Cotten, Thomas Parker, Henry Dupree, Robbie Zima and Roger Lewis.
